Exploding Vorcha in ME2 didn't bother me -- maybe because it was sort of cartoony. Blasting a Cerberus trooper's head off in ME3 -- yuck.;;
How is that 'yuck'?

well it does help for the war ambiance, not necessary but a "nice" detail
This. Fits the overall mood of the game really.

Yeah. I loved that part of the demo when Shepard ripped a Cerberus trooper's skull out through his helmet and proceeded to beat him to death with it too. What's that? That doesn't seem physically possible, you say?
Siiigh.
This game has guns! And people! People who shoot guns!
Pandering to the shooter crowd. I totally called it.
It's not even trolling any more, it's just silly.

Anyway, to me I think if BioWare wants to show these gory moments in extra detail they should've started this in the first game. For me it now feels like they're changing the rules of the ME world (storytelling wise) somewhat. It's a minor thing and nothing to get worked up about. Just wanted to know what other people thought about it. I agree that it somehow does add to the omg reapers are ****ing evil gods feeling that I had in ME1, which I missed somewhat in ME2. In that regard I guess its a good thing.

We're talking about a game series where you can have sex with blue alien chicks, get lap dances, get ****faced and wake up in a restroom, comically punch a reporter in the face, and has hentai references.geertmans wrote...

Look. I can't jump to conclusions from these mere short clips (which i'm doing anyway), But it really seems just like that. A mature game like ME in my opinion should never avoid gore out of obligatory reasons or anything, but solely based on these shots it looks like ME3 is going at the other end of the spectrum. Mass Efect had moments that showed the effects of war and battles. They just never had moments where you could 'kick off heads of former humans because it felt so awesome to do'. It just feels forced and wrong. Not because I don't like gore; hell I like to slice me up some Locust in GoW, but because i just don't think a game like ME needs it.
Exploding faces isn't doing any harm to the series. Saying they're trying to draw in a certain crowd with exploding heads is awfully pretentious. People play Gears for the gameplay and competitive multiplayer. If they were trying to draw in the Gears crowd, the game would have competitive multiplayer.

I guess I'm more talking about Shepard kicking off the head of a Husk, who in my vision seems more 'innocent' than a Cerberus soldier. It just feels out of place to me. I realise how stupid this sounds but to me that just feels like too much and like it was put there to please a certain crowd. It just has the opposite effect on me, thats all.
Oh and believe it or not, I never touched GoW's multiplayer. I play it for the gameplay and......the story.

I'm their target audience. Not the Gears of War crowd, me, the person who's been playing Mass Effect since the first game.

Its on the parents. If you don't want your kid seeing that stuff then don't buy it for them or watch what they buy. But don't hate on a developer cause you can't figure out how to tell you kid no.King Minos wrote...

The crowd they aimed to please was their audience who wouldn't mind shooting the head off of some punk ass Cerberus soldier or curbstomping a Husk. IE, me.

If their target audience was solely 'the person who's been playing Mass Effect since the first game', then ME3 would never have been preordered this many units. There's absolutely nothing wrong with appealing to a wider group of people, but that seems to be another discussion than whether kicking of the head of a former human feels out of place in a ME game or not.

Thats a completely different discussion. Furthermore there is no hating on a developer anywhere here. Just wondering about design choices, thats all.
