So it's pretty much confirmed that they cut some dialogue cutscenes out for the demo. Good :)

Did they also auto-select dialogue for the demo? Or do we really only get to have any input once in a while?

It does, AV.

Figured - for some reason, the description for Numerous reminded me of the "Default Shepard" from ME2.
(you know, the one that killed most everything he met? :P )

Once in a while. Like said many times over already the leaked demo actually had alot more content the actual official demo does which is odd I think.

Ok. Insanity is really hard. I must have tried 10-15 times to bring down the Atlas. Was playing Infiltrator. The fight was awesome, and the Atlas would even attempt to corner me on a few occasions. The Cerberus troopers supporting it were being agressive, tossing grenades and flanking me so that I don't stay in the same spot. Atlas could take out your shields in 1 hit.

^So optimists will say.

Truth is nobody knows...we very well could have the entire game with dialogue like that. If so thats MASSIVE blow to what made me enjoy the game. I can't imagine this series without the dialogue being the way it was. It defff does feel like Shepard is his own person. In ME2 it was extremely rare to only have 2 choices...and even when it DID happen it was the 3rd or 4th part of a conversation.

I just pray to god they made it that way for the sake of the demo being about showing off the game itself rather than dialogue...

You didn't see the original demo at the leak did you? Any one that seen it knows there more dialoge in the game.

The leak didn't have more options. The leak only had a hub area that was cut, if anything this demo had an extra option on earth, but there was still a ton of auto dialogue.

To quote myself from the other thread:

"Honestly, Earth was by far my favorite part of the demo. Sur'Kesh, while cool, felt like your typical ME2 shooting gallery, so I didn't really get that much out of it."

Other than that, the whole thing was damn near perfect, in my opinion. I don't know if anything was cut (aside from the Sur'Kesh hub) but it was good enough.

Since I skipped all the cutscenes/dialogue from both segments of the demo, I cannot comment on the quality of the narritive or the writing, but the visuals and gameplay improvements are amazing (epecially the HUD, new level-up menu and talents). HOWEVER the animations are shockingly subpar for a AAA title. Here are a few examples of poorly implemented animations off the top of my head -
  • Shepard's sprint animation. Shepard DOES NOT move his/her lower body while sprinting. It looks rediculous (in fact, the animation is so bizarre that it distracted me from focusing as much as I could have).
  • Squad movement looks forced and awkward
  • reloading is blindingly fast
  • Rolling often results in Shepard sliding into cover and vise-versa, greatly ruining the fluidity of combat.
  • As with the sprint animation, Shepard does not move the lower-half of his/her body when using heavy melee attacks
I understand that the demo may not be an accurate gauge of the final product (DA2's demo was significantly more flawed than the full game), but I'll be damned if the demo hasn't put some doubts in my head regarding the technical aspects of the gameplay.

Just my two cents.

Ok, perhaps I should say 'the general concensus is' or something. People have been referencing the beta leak, tweets by devs and the script leak as evidence, so I'm fairly convinced they shortened the cutscenes for the demo.

I'm now more interested to know whether the reason shep did so much talking on her own was that they auto-selected much of the dialogue for the demo too.

Then here's a good example of a dialogue that was cut from the demo:

**ME3 SPOILER DIALOGUE**highlight to read**
*snip*

If you don't mind my asking, where exactly is this conversation supposed to take place?

Would be nice if they included a 'safe zone' horizontal/vertical box shifter like CoD has. See? CoD can contribute to gaming folks, its possible! Lets people adjust how far to the sides the HUD will sit instead of some 'well it'll be visible on anyones TV' as for a lot of people it floats to far inward.

I loved it. There is cover issue, or at least a "get used to thing" but it is pretty awesome. I am super excited for the game, The demo is a bit "raw" but really great. I wish I could have had Kaidan on my squad, but thats alright. Leveling is better.  Pretty sweet all and all.

The work/upgrade benches were taken out completely in this demo while in the leak and even much older demos had them.  Besides that not much more I can think of at moment.

Its pretty obvious it happens upon the first meeting between the VS and Shepard.

Demo is outstanding. I'm astonished by how much more fluid and intense the combat is, it's truly great. Wish not all of the dialogue was cut, but I understand the need to do so.

@em23 the leak had the exact same dialogue and exact same auto dialogue. Nothing changed except one additional dialogue choice with Anderson by the stairs, that wasn't in the leak. Everything else was the same. I'm sorry but unless bioware states the auto dialogue was for the demo only, it's in game. The script is hardly something to go by since it's outdated.

Your assuming it was cut. Why would they cut dialogue options? Having selectable dialogue instead of auto dialogue wouldn't have meant much difference in space.

I don't know... if that is indeed the case then color me impressed. The meeting with the VS felt incredibly seamless. I could never tell something was cut out of it. Not in a million years.

Well the demo entirely skipped the hub part on Sur'Kesh, that's what I particularly meant.  Idk about the rest of it, but I am going under the optimistic assumption that there was in fact dialogue cut from those parts

People are assuming it was cut out based on a outdated script. There's no evidence to indicate it was. Unless bioware comes out and says that the auto dialogue can be selectable in retail game, it's there. Since they're obviously not going to say that, due to it being prevalent in me2, then its safe to say Shepard is doing his/her own thing now. Welcome to gears of mass with Marcus Shepard.

By dialogue I don't mean dialogue choices but actual dialogue - auto or otherwise.
Quite a few people have said there is more such dialogue in the game for the bits in the demo, perhaps they are wrong, who's to know, but it seems probable.

The lack of dialogue options (as in selecting what shep should say rather than shep saying whatever she wants) is a concern I share with you.
