@pHubb88 - that's what we're concerned about, choosing dialogue rather than automatic dialogue. We're on the same page.

I know you get it. I have seen you talking about it today. Its other people misunderstanding you and myself.
I honestly...can't imagine playing the whole game in that same fashion...no choices...no matter how good the game is that would be MASSIVE damper on things if thats how Shepards behavior will be in it, extremely linear and replying to people without even giving me a choice on what I want to say.

People actually expect to role-play in a demo?Hattie wrote...
It's an (action)RPG - I want to roleplay as shep. Having her chat away without me like she does in the demo makes that hard.

What I can't help but wonder is if there is a different opening in general for those who have importaed a ME2 save. One with a select few additional dialogue choices, based on the fact that that player knows about the universe going in. That's what the opneing has to do for new players, but old ones don't need it as much, so I would theorize that Bioware provided some additional control as a result. Just a guess, mind you, based only on my personal wishes and hopes, not on any real evidence.
I'm not sure if they are permanate powers or just new bonus powers.AtlasPilot wrote...
Overall really well done. Only a few small gripes:
1. A few classes didn't really get major new powers ie. Infiltrator only got Sticky Grenades which I hated using, Adept only got Biotic Grenades which have their uses but would much prefer a compeletely new power
2. Altough there's slightly more variety in Character Creation, there's still not as much variety as I would have liked. Was expecting longer hair styles, a few more hair colors, etc.
3. Rolling was annoying when it automically placed you in cover, sometimes I wouldnt be able to duck into cover at all.
4. I was expecting the final evolutions of powers to be much more unique and devestating. Some of the powers final evolutions are really nice. Others are similar to the previous 5 evolutions.
Overall these are all small things, the major things BioWare nailed perfectly. Got really high hopes for this game!

I so agree with this.

There is - Anderson's speech at the start references specific actions. Or at least, it did in the leaked beta.
Devs have commented that dialogue changes drastically depending on whether the save file is new or imported.
Given how much the demo is geared towards new players, I have no doubt it's using the 'new Shepard' version of all the dialogue.

Any idea if the team is considering lowering the shield/health bar down a tad. Several people, including myself (in other threads) have mentioned that it is a little annoying. It is survivable though.Jarrett Lee wrote...
Given that I imagine this group would have very high expectations for ME3, I'm happy to see largely positive (and some very positive!) reactions. And of course keep in mind: Earth is an awesome intro but also effectively a tutorial level, and Sur'kesh is really fun too...but the demo is essentially just a very small sample of all the amazing places you go and things you do in the full gameProbably that's a bit obvious to say, but it's worth keeping in mind. It only gets *better* from there.
I can't really speak to that (game dev side) but I'm sure plenty of devs are paying attention to reactions and feedback.

Did they say anything about the demo specifically, or just ME3 in general?

I'd be so happy if that happens in the actual game. It's kind of messed up but it would encourage people to play Mass Effect the traditional way.javierabegazo wrote...
One of the things that I saw that I really liked, was that if you pick Action Mode in the beginning, it railroads you into being a Soldier.
I see this as a good thing, hear me out:
I interpret this as a kind of punishment to whoever chooses that option. to me, it's their way of saying "What?! You don't want to have any participation in choosing the dialogue to steer the narrative in our video game? Then you don't get to experience the other classes!"
Guest_Catch This Fade_*
No. I understand the concerns, I have them too. My response was in the context of just the demo though.Gibb_Shepard wrote...

The demo is supposed to give us a taste of the final game, and for those of us who enjoyed the role play in the previous two, its not looking too good.
