Lol, explain to me how it's going off topic to talk about our impressions of the demo. Gatts correct, the BDF said the same thing on the DA2 demo, I would have though you guys would at least update the lingo after 2 years. :P

Now how about you stop drifting off topic with your personal vendettas and we get to talking about the demo again?

Just gonna point out that two days ago you were convinced that there would only be two options for all dialogue choices until a Bioware rep told you point blank it wasn't so. You've been wrong before about the demo being representative of the whole game.

Except auto dialogue was prevalent throughout me2, and subsequently heavily prevalent throughout LoTSB and Arrival. So, you willing to take that to the bank?

The demo speaks for itself G3rman. You're really grasping at straws there buddy.

You are grasping at straws, its ten minutes of the game.  Ten minutes of confirmed auto dialogue, ten minutes of the starting game =/= 40 hour game.

Get your math straight kiddo.

I read this post before,  it was on the DA2 boards that time.

Now would also be a good time for you to notice you aren't a mod.  You don't get to determine what goes where.

Given that the issues people had with the demo had nothing to do with what people eventually decided was wrong with the main game, meh.

Really? I thought the issues people had with the DA2 main game were exactly the issues they had with the demo - plus interest.

Most people I've read say the biggest problem was the repeating dungeoons/lack of promised exploration and railroading story that doesn't give you much in the way of outcome change based on your choices, plus repetative enemies in combat. As I recall, the demo complaints were mostly whining about how "unrealistic" the new combat was.

Either way, I actually liked Dragon Age 2 just fine. It wasn't as good as Origins, but it was way better than a lot of people give it credit for.

Given that I enjoyed the crap out of LotSB and Arrival as did most people, and there was still plenty of control over Shepard's dialogue choices, yeah, I think I will. The banter between Liara and Shepard during the chase sequence and the fight at the doors is some of my favorite dialogue in the game.

Just got home from work, played the demo twice(both as femshep). So were do I begin, I left it on the tittle screen for a min or two just to listen to the beautiful score, messed around with the character creator for a good 20 min, was able to remake my cannon FemShep more or less(she looks great in cutscenes), first playthrough as a vanguard on hardcore & I'me happy to say that I had a blast. The enemies are definitely smarter this time around, no more kamikaze rush attacks like ME1 & no more peek a boo like in ME2, if u hug cover for more than a few seconds you'll get a grenade or two thrown your way. Engineers throw down & repair turrets to pin you down, while guardians press forward with their shields. I found myself actually pausing to strategize the best way to handle each encounter & to issue orders to my squad(something I rarely felt the need to do in ME2).

The game looks as epic as ever, running with Anderson through the buildings while the reapers decimate the city is something you have to see for yourself(doesn't hurt if you have a big flatscreen to see it on) & the sounds they make really sell the fact that these are huge monstrosities, the sound guys did an outstanding job. Even thou I have watched the scene with the little boy in the air duct several times, experiencing it first hand really put a knot in my throat, again the score really helps in making you feel that sadness/hopelessness. I also love all the new little touches like your squad mates lowering their weapons when your not in a firefight(one of my nitpicks from ME2) & being able to toggle helmets on or off during dialogue. If the demo is any indication ME3 is looking like the best in the trilogy...its going to be a long three weeks.

My biggest (if not only) faults I could give the gameplay so far is that the cover system (and environment interaction) isn't as accurate as say... the Gears series... which could get you into trouble at times.

The proximity-sensitive actions (like buttons to push) also don't seem quiiite as solid as ME2's... but they're both not deal breakers at all.

I do need to restate btw that Mass Effect 3 (based on the demo) is poised to easily be the best game in the series... here's hoping the story holds up.

And that was just with a level 12... Can't wait to import my level 30^^

The demo really convinced me that pre-ordering the CE and taking 5 days off is going to be totally worth it. :)

I really liked the music, and that moment on Sur'kesh when you're with Liara, Garrus and Wrex, that's just awesome. It really feels like it's the best of ME1 and 2 combined, just what I wanted.

To those who played the demo, heard there was some problem with the controls, the rolling and cover system, can you elaborate?

How different are the controls from ME2?

I've played the demo last night. Overall, it's really good.

About the Main Menu music: is this the final and complete track? it's only 1 minute long and a really nice track in itself, but doesn't seem to fit 100% imho.

Pros:
-Sound effects and the music overall is mindblowingly awesome. Not a bad thing to say here.
-Nice lighting effects and graphics.
-Cutscenes look delicious.
-The stat bars in the Squad Menu.
-The combat roll is a nice addition. A double A tap to perform the roll would be a better idea though, because sometimes accidental rolls were performed when I just wanted to take cover or activate an item.

Cons:
-Too bad there's not much difference between Paragon and Renegade answers. It doesn't really matter which reply you choose, the scene will always play out the same way. Plus, I didn't see any neutral choices.
-The running animations during the Earth mission look awkward, like there are animations missing... too sudden and too much flopping around with the arms.
-Why no trial during the intro, BioWare?! :) it feels a bit rushed now.
-Enemies sometimes glitch/slide over the floor when in cover. Also, Shepard moving from one wall to another (45 degrees) looks a bit clunky, like there's some animations missing.
-Lip synching isn't always spot-on.

Compared to the Earth level, I enjoyed the Sur'Kesh mission more... a lot of action and the running with armor on looks better than in the Earth part. A pity there's no Weapon Workbench to fiddle around with or in-depth conversations to be had. Wrex is awesome and glorious in pretty much every scene, but at the moment the Atlas is being dropped into the battlefield, Wrex seems to have a different voice??? Don't know if that's a glitch or something... (is it Urdnot Wreav's voice maybe?).

Loved it! I like how the demo has just overly wetted my appetite for the full game now haha! Very pleased with the combat. And the music and sound is just...beyond lush

Very different. They're a lot more sensitive, and since so many actions are assigned to the A button, you'll regularly roll when you want to cover.

Not in the slightest. Seeing the "Action Mode" garbage, the awkward conversations with everyone (no questions, just para or ren options) and the five seconds of Vega left a bad taste in my mouth. Mass Effect 2 blew me away, as did it's demo, but this one felt rushed and incomplete. No intrigue? That's a big part of Mass Effect, one of the reasons people love the games and one of the biggest contributing factors to the roleplaying element. Why even ask us if we want to play in "roleplaying" or "story" modes if we only get three dialogue options in the demo? Talk about misleading.

There was no roleplaying, next to no interactions and it really felt like Bioware was saying "Hey, this is what Shepard is going to do. Sit back and enjoy until it's time to respond to people." If there's this little control over the commander in the retail I won't bother. The demo alone has made me wary of a day one purchase.

An answer to the question, no, the demo did NOT meet my expectations. Heres a post I made earlier about it.

" So I did that Facebook game deal a few hours ago and was luck enough to get a demo code. After playing it, I can say I am honestly dissapointed. I was expecting a lot more gameplay wise out of a game with such hype behind it. The cutscenes and graphics look great, but it plays terribly. Default sensativity is way too fast; turn it down and it's too slow. Same powers and weapon effects as in ME2 (which imo played MUCH smoother).

The cover system is also laughable. Go into cover and from time to time as you pop up to shoot, you will jolt around, as if the character can't decide which way he is going to lean to shoot. Shappard moves strangly. It feels so fake the way he moves.

As in all forums I'll probably get smashed for saying anything negative but I just wanted to voice my opinions in hopes (not likely) that Bioware will see it and take to heart that from what I have played, this game plays and feels so bad. ME2 was perfect. I like that you have the option to skip the irritating dialog options and the graphics as always are fantastic. The gameplay sucks. From what I have played, I'm not sure I'll even buy the game now"

Aaand now I see who action mode was made for. >_> I guess there is a target audience who doesn't like to roleplay but buys roleplaying games. This is what ruined D&D.

It frightens me that no dev has said anything clear about the so-called cut content. Yeah, there is this twitter answer but I have learned not to belive twitter(being a street fighter player xD).

I mean,if there is cut-content, I don't see the point of hidding it, just go out and say "Hey,we cuted content for the sake of the demo and introducing people to the story without asking them questions about the previous game in the trial, real intro will be longer if you import your previous save, chill out thx". On the over hand, if there is no cut content, and if the game is trully this way dialogue wise, it's going to be a large decepointement, and while most of us are still going to buy the game anyway I can understand why they would try to hide the fact that maybe the dialogue is not as good as in the previous games. Beetween that and "action mode" I think concerns about dialogues are legitimate.

Dialogue is what Bioware does best. While I agree That ME2 was a very good tps, I would not have played it if not for the story and the character interaction. Removing that from the game is not a good way to market it, as you are not going to cheat anyone into beliving that this is the next gow, not after the 2 others installement. I am not even sure that making ME 2 action oriented payed off sell wise. Considering how it turned out for DA2, I trully hope that Bioware understood what we wanted and is going to gave us a true rpg, not a shooter with double the amount of cutscene just to say "hey there is a story so it's an rpg, shut up and give us you money now".

What bugs me is that no one has answered to that. I mean it's easy to see what we want right? Basicly same dialogue as in ME1, hell even ME2 would be fine, yet they have made no comparaison that i'am aware of, so i'am kinda worried :/.

Ive seen teh leaks and let me help to put your concerns to rest, the dialogue is extensive and great. At least as good as in ME2. They cut alot of stuff from this demo, It's clearly action oriented and not story oriented, they are saving that for the full game. Sur'Kesh has a whole intro thing that wasnt shown where you can wonder around and talk to people in the STG base, in the demo it shows only the action part.

I'm stil wondering... there's a moment in Sur'Kesh when you have to bypass a door and the usual minigame was replaced with a basic animation : is this representative for the full game ?

I mean, were minigames ditched / replaced with character animations ?
