I found the scenes on earth to be more or less perfect. A great start-off point. Emotional, sets the mood and tone, and everything moves very fluidly

Aaaactually, contrary to Anderson's dialogue there's more early-game railroading than ever before in ME3. Which it sounds like you and I will be happy for - but many BSNers might not be.

There's plenty more post-Earth that needs to be accomplished before select-your-planet formally begins, unless a lot has been altered from the leak.

You seem to have been 'd sir.

Can't say.  I'm a PC player and were not allowed an opportunity to try for early access to the demo like you.

Your tread title would be more appropriate to read as, "Did the demo meet xbox 360 player expectations?"

Agreed. Though I do still kinda feel sad that the trial is cut from the game. Shepard is already trialed at the point where the game starts. He's already relieved of duty for 3 weeks or so when the game starts.

I loved the whole demo, the graphics were improved, the combat was fluid, leveling up has more depth, It was great to see certain characters, the only thing that bothered me was the lack of hair in the CC but I can get over that.

Yes, but my expectations weren't all that high.

I just think the intro is completely rushed.

As opposed to ME1 and ME2's intros?

Riiiiiiiiiight.

Yes, as opposed to ME1 and ME2's intros. ME3 it takes about 15 minutes before you're sent off to collect all the races.

Right, because you get control of Shepard aboard the Normandy after leaving Earth and get to pick any destination you want in the demo.

OH WAIT, NO YOU DON'T. IT CUTS AND THEN YOU GET INSTA-PORTED TO SUR'KESH.

How about not jumping to conclusions before you've actually seen what happens after leaving Earth?

PROHINT: *very minor and vague spoiler* You go to Mars. This is equivalent to Freedom's Progress from ME2. And that's not all - after Mars, you're railroaded to the Citadel. Now, after this part, you're perfectly welcome to go wherever the hell you want. *very minor and vague spoiler*

Overall it was a pretty good demo. The intro on Earth had some nice cinematic segments with Shep and Anderson but the Alliance meeting felt pretty ... hollow.
Honestly, the Council meetings in the Presidium and Tali's trial felt way better than what they did in the intro.

I'd also like to point out some things that bothered me :
1. The camera feels too close to the character. Once I couldn't even SEE where I was shooting because Shep's damn shoulder covered my screen.
2. Bypassing doors : there was no mini-game at all. You just waived your omnitool and 'hey presto' - it opened. Felt pretty lame imho.

Also, as some members have speculated/stated, I was left with the impression that we're not fighting a galactic war, but rather hoarding races to save Earth and if the Galaxy survives too, well, that's just a after thought.

Lastly, when Anderson told Shepard to get the Council involved, I'm surprised no one mentioned their blatant denial of the Reapers. They just raised a meager "what if they don't help ?" issue.

*Demo Spoilers in post*

I agree. I did like it to an extent but I do feel it was rushed. There wasn't even much time for dialogue or exploration at all I was hoping to at least be able to walk around for a bit before going to meet Anderson. I was expecting something AT LEAST like:

Vega: The Defense Commitee wants to see you

Shep: Sounds important

*NEW OBJECTIVE: Go see the Defense Commitee*

*Player assumes control of Shepard, free to walk around the area, talk to people to eventually meet the Defense Commitee*

But instead we got this:

*Cutscene*

*Reapers arrive*

*Fight to the Normandy*

*MASS EFFECT 3*

Or at least that's what it felt like.. the intro takes 10 minutes. Then its off the recruit people unite the galaxy (edited because of confusion).

I confess, I was jumping up and down on my seat and making all kinds of silly noises as the ME3 demo was loading up, even as the main menu popped up I continued to make silly noises, even when making my shepard I-- you get the idea.....

However.. once I actually started playing the game, it was straight to business, shooting my way to the end, I'm a bit saddened that I didn't take the time to appreciate the beautiful [yet ultimately ravaged] scenary while doing this so I'll be playing it once more to fully appreciate it all.

tl;dr: I've never been so excited to play a demo before, cept Resident Evil 5, even then, nowhere near this much. It's just my opinion though no need to spread it around..

Except you aren't off to recruit people, you do other stuff that the game requires you to before you can select your destination. As it has been said before.

@ ReFLeX : Precisely. One long cinematic with little to no player intervention. I didn't much mind the fact that you couldn't walk through the building, but I was annoyed at the lack of dialogue control.
I mean, throughout the entire cinematic (which, mind you, is somewhat long), I got only two moments when I could talk, and the options were ridiculously limited* .

*OK, perhaps it was a demo limitation, but not being able to control what Shepard says was annoying as hell.

By recruit people I'm talking about Shepards objective... He leaves to go to the Citadel and unite the galaxy.

Of course that is what he is GOING to do, but after leaving Earth you to go to..this one place and then you go to the Citadel.  And by that I mean it forces you to go, more tutorial and more story exploring before you can do your own thing.  Just like the previous games.

Yeah I kinda liked the idea of defending myself before the alliance even if the end result was the same.

It exceeded my expectations and gave me a lot of reassurance for the final product. The (re)expanded RPG stuff is great, gunplay is faster and more accurate than ME2. Dying for the MP to unlock so I can see how that is too.

Earth stops right when Anderson throws you your ID Tags. From then on, its the Normandy and the rest of the game. Maybe we'll see it (the planet) at the end but as far as the intro goes, that's where it stops.

The only problem I had with the demo was there was no sample of the armor and weapon customization. Other than that, the game looks much better than Mass Effect 2.

Can't wait to try the Multiplayer. Six more days!

Nope.

Again, like everyone else says, you're wrong.
