Given that I imagine this group would have very high expectations for ME3, I'm happy to see largely positive (and some very positive!) reactions. And of course keep in mind: Earth is an awesome intro but also effectively a tutorial level, and Sur'kesh is really fun too...but the demo is essentially just a very small sample of all the amazing places you go and things you do in the full game :) Probably that's a bit obvious to say, but it's worth keeping in mind. It only gets *better* from there.

It just occured to me that ME2 started without a tutorial level. I had to walk through the Normandy all on my own. It was terrifying, how could you leave me so unguided?

But seriously...holding back the opportunities of such a great scenario because it has to be a tutorial level, too is pretty much a waste. And a bitter one. Potential --> in the wastebin.

PC version:

pros:

Darker color scheme Makes things look nice and gritty.
Music: Mass Effect has yet to go wrong in this department, record remains unblemished
Segmented health bar
Return of grenades
Combat turn arrows surprisingly unobtrusive, reminded me of DXHR

cons:

Rushed beginning: felt like I was being herded towards the invasion
Few dialogue options
One person's outfit (who shall remain nameless on this thread) needs to die in a fire
Combat rolls: kept thinking of the Galaxy Quest line "Does the rolling help?"
No sniper rifle in demo=sad Infiltrator

edit:  One more con:  No workbench:  What am I supposed to do with this scope I found???

It was bland, and really left me unimpressed. I'll wait for the reviews before making a decision as to whether I will purchase it or not.

No because a 40 minute Demo represents the entire Game, at least it wasn't preorder cancelledImage IPB

I canceled my preorder when I read the script. The forty minutes didn't influence me. Then again anyone on here who has an opinion that isn't positive about the game, they automatically claim the person is being purposefully negative.

In this case, the game just didn't convince me.

Don't worry probably someone got you're preorder. When someone is not saying something positive then
he is saying something negative. Its okay,  i just wanted people to have a little faith but it seems people
just want to be negative and whine.

Except I'm not whining. I played the game, I formed an opinion, that opinion didn't convince me that I liked it. That's all I said.

Terrible demo, Lacks so many Dialogue options that i will not be buying the game.

and did you pay attention...

there will be more dialogue options in the final game...

think for a minute, it was confirmed that ME3 is nearly as big dialogue wise as both ME1 and ME2 combined.

Yes it did, I just wish I could have brought my personal Shepard over to it.

I enjoyed it just thought it was short but then again that is because I just want to play the full game. Not sure if I am a fan of the roll mechanic but I will adapt. So far I have played 5 of the six classes and I have to say I am liking the vanguard the most. Still have to try engineer though.

I want to wait until I have the real deal before I do that.  These demos are like practice runs for me.

Pros: I got to play ME3.

Cons: It made me want to play the full version of ME3 even more than I already did, and it doesn't come out until March 6th. FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU.....!!!!

The demo was pretty meh. Very few dialogue options. The missions they gave us were on rails. It didn't leave the same impression as the DA2 demo did for me where I legit wanted to play the game. Also don't like that they merged the ME1 and ME2 skill system.

Is it just me, or is the multiplayer actually really good?

Shields and health seem to go down incredibly quickly. The sentry turrets section makes me cry. My Shepard has been forcibly granted different hair and looks different facially. Sprinting looks stupid. I keep freaking dodge rolling everywhere when I'm trying to do something like take cover.

And I know I'm just going to be levelling up essentially another ME2 character from scratch. They could have added more new powers really...

I don't know, we'll see when the full game is out. The visual style is also a little too different from ME2 for my liking, but I guess that's personal taste.

Seriously not happy about my Shepard looking different in this game though, could have at least left the same hairstyle in the game. Now she has these strands of hair hanging down on her face rather than having it fully tied back. Makes her look like some fantasy character.

Also, the squad from ME2 was so much more interesting than that from ME1, and it seems as though we just have the ME1 squad plus Vega. Hoping some characters get a little more interesting but they're pretty well-established now.

It was...meh. I'm dissapointed, got bored after an hour. The fact that I couldn't wait for the demo makes it even worse. I'm still going to play the game, hopefuly it'll get better.

Before I download the demo, I decided to read the forum reviews. If what I am reading is to be believed, BioWare ended up splintering the ME fanbase similar to what they did to Dragon Age. Maybe its time to take a hiatus from plaing BioWare games. When certain franchises start to suffer from fatigue, the main cause is due to developer and writter errors. Its a common occurance with television and movie franchises. As a result of not taking time off, working on other projects, fans and developers loose a connection due to overconfident choices. BioWare is going through a period, which requires them to take a few steps back. Fans need to find other franchises to experience, so that they can come back with newer eyes.

(But it's not perfect... cover bugs are the primary issue)

The controls needed some getting used to in the beginning, but after a while, it went smooth. Overall, I loved it. The graphics and scale are amazing. I especially love letting Shepard do an air flip when jumping down, by simply rolling forward xD He actually lands on his feet then lol. Awesome. Anyway, I've tried 4 of the classes and they all play fine, but very different.

I loved the way everything was set up. The pacing is perfect, especially in the first level. The voice acting is phenomenal and a clear improvement over ME1 and ME2. The size of reapers.. I could stare at them all day xD And glad to see they added kids in the game too. The second one was more action oriented, which in a way is a good thing because I don't want major spoilers.

I still have some complaints though, but the following will probably not be an issue in the full game. I know the mission on Sur'Kesh was to allow you to experiment with your powers and with different weapons, but, because each class was forced to carry so many weapons without the possibility of un-equiping them, classes like the Engineer and Adept were gimped because their recharge timer was atrocious, and you had to heavily rely on shooting. It was hard to test the powers themselves out. And in the tutorial level all but two of your powers are locked... And where is the sniper rifle? Kind of undermines the infiltrator. Not that I mind, not a big infiltrator fan, but I'm sure others would've liked a sniper to be in the demo.

I also encountered a bug on that same level where the Mattock assault rifle disappeared. Just visually. I could still equip it and shoot with it, but it was invisible. Or is there a special secret power that your guns cloak away? xD After climbing a ladder, it suddenly popped back into existence. Not a major issue, but remarkable nonetheless. Only happened once and couldn't replicate it, so yeah.. Dunno what happened.

I also wished a bit of weapon customization was in the demo. You can find some items that indicate that weapon and armor customization is the game, but it would've been cool to see it and experiment a bit with it. I also missed interruptions, to see if/how they changed, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. Guess I want to see everything lol xD Just excited to know as much as possible I guess.

And lastly, conversations had only two choices throughout the whole demo. I don't know if this is because it was a demo or not, but I do hope the full game has 3 options most of the time, more similar to ME1 and ME2.

After playing the multiplayer, my opinion regarding the weapon customization obviously changed.. It's extensive in the multiplayer so now I get why it wasn't put in the single player. It wasn't really needed.

I absolutely love the Demo and the MP is going to replace CS:GO for me for a freakin' period of time!

Pro:

- Sound (Environment, Weapons, Enemies)
- Cover System (I really like it though, gives you more flexibility on the battlefield)
- Enemy types (at least those I saw, Cerberus is a pain in the arse!!!)
- Intro (I really like it, wanting to save the kid, seeing it again on an extraction shuttle just to be shot down seconds later)

Cons:

- Cover system sometimes little bit buggy
- Those freaking frag grenades, they're really powerful on Insane (okay, that's why it's called Insane anyway xD)

That's it so far!

My expectations were met - and then some. In the first part of demo where we had to go to the ship - the normandy - and the Reapers were attacking, the moment we met the little kid; amazing. And even more amazing was to see that Bioiware had the guts, yes guts, to let the Reapers do something so horribly to the shuttle with the kid in it. And just for that, I'm personally - or rather my female Shepard is - going to haunt every Reaper down....and do something terribly and horribly to them. So, see video games can be art, video games can cause emotions and stir feelings in players.

On the tech side of things, I had a tough time figuring out how to use the controls, but it'll getter with practise, I think. Btw, the running animation sort of looks - ehm- not good. Else, an enjoyable demo.

The graphics and bad sound quality of everyone but the kid and fshep made me very disappointed I loaded up mshep right off to hear his voice if he indeed has inflection and feeling in there and the bad sound quality makes it really hard to tell.

The action was more shooter feel then mass effect feel.

So far the long and short answer to your question is yes in some ways no in others. I'm trying to remember this demo was done way before the middle period of the game itself so of course its going to be rushed, half assed, and glitch but at this point it leaves me concerned for the game but then I also try to remember SB, overlord, and arrival which were supposedly ripped from 3's quests so those missions make me hopeful 3 will be cool, with great story, and feeling between the characters.
