Yes, there are at least two other places Shepard travels to before the main plotline opens up. It's a very long intro.

Nope.
Again, like everyone else says, you're wrong.
Maybe I'm missing the obvious or I'm damn too tired to think straight, but who is "everyone else" and even better, where did "they" say it ? I'm not being rude here, I'm just puzzled by your short answer.

Well that sucks, I'm now off back to Mordin's clinic to kill that Batarian.Luc0s wrote...Agreed. Though I do still kinda feel sad that the trial is cut from the game. Shepard is already trialed at the point where the game starts. He's already relieved of duty for 3 weeks or so when the game starts.

But only because I don't play ME for the combat, I play for the dialogue, choices and characters.
It was a combat focused Demo - fun though.

However....kind of disappointed in them using the term "ammo" now. Its almost as if they havent learned their lesson from the first time with the complaints about "Heatsinks" being introduced, now they arent even trying to explain it away and simply drop any pretenses and straight up say "out of ammo"

Lots of great touches/improvements: Kaidan looks amazing; loved the little people feeling buildings down below on the Earth level, Garrus comment on Kirahee pistol, the new door opening animations. Animations are great full stop, especially the moving cover to cover. Also loved the multi level, less linear cover design.
The weight system is going to be challenging for cool downs as they were huge with four weapons. Levelling system is a ton better that ME1/2. Can't wait to check weapon and armour customisation. Seriously, I did not expect gameplay to be so improved.

And you don't think the mountain of complates about that in ME1 and ME2 got BW to cut the intro time...Also, we're missing a part of the intro. You have Mars to deal with first before jumping into thegalexy in ME3.Gibb_Shepard wrote...

Yes, but my expectations weren't all that high.
I just think the intro is completely rushed.
Riiiiiiiiiight.
Yes, as opposed to ME1 and ME2's intros. ME3 it takes about 15 minutes before you're sent off to collect all the races.
In ME1, it takes a couple missions before your sent off to the main questline. Same in ME2.

The controls seemed a bit touchy. Not bad, just things to get used to. Also I thought the melee would be cooler meaning, the regular melee. Seems like a pistol tap. When we saw the melee in the first earth demo looked bad ass... now it's just a simple tap. That was a huge disappointment. Maybe I was doing something wrong?

The only disappointment to me was we didn't get to test out the weapon bench or swap weapons. That and the shield/health bar needs to be lowered on the screen.
Sized down a bit as well.
I'm absolutely loving the difficulty, though. I felt vulnerable throughout the entire Sur'Kesh level.

It does the badass combination if the enemy you hit doesn't die in one hit. I did it with a shotgun.XyleJKH wrote...

I'm glad I'll be playing on PC. These controls were a little too sensitive. The roll should be a double tap so you don't roll while trying to take cover.

Yes and no. I like the combat (tho if forced to 4 weapons at the start, it's going to crimp Adepts and engineers).

Thanks. Its 4 o' clock in the morning here, so please excuse me for missing yours and the others' posts. But still, if I get it right, all these "other" Earth-related activities happen before you dust-off with the Normandy, which means that my point still holds true. Unless you travel on Earth with the Normandy.
No, Earth is as short as it appears. But then you're immediately railroaded to Mars. Then the Citadel. There's no "gather the races" until all of that. There's no true openness until all of that is done - although I hear-tell the Citadel is big again.
So basically, ME1 pre-nonlinearity:
Eden Prime
The Citadel (lengthy!)
ME2 pre-nonlinearity:
Normandy in Flames
Lazarus Station
Freedom's Progress
ME3 pre-nonlinearity:
Earth
Mars
The Citadel
So you see, by your "before traveling around for the main questline" definition of intros is complete, quite a bit has taken place in ME3. In terms of approximate gameplay time in accordance with my best estimates, at least longer than ME2, IMO.
