Given that I imagine this group would have very high expectations for ME3, I'm happy to see largely positive (and some very positive!) reactions. And of course keep in mind: Earth is an awesome intro but also effectively a tutorial level, and Sur'kesh is really fun too...but the demo is essentially just a very small sample of all the amazing places you go and things you do in the full gameProbably that's a bit obvious to say, but it's worth keeping in mind. It only gets *better* from there.
Did the demo meet everyone's expectations?

1. As mentioned by others, the cover system felt off. I had a lot of issues where I tried to take cover and ended up rolling, getting a face-full of lead for my trouble.
2. The game is too quiet. I had to crank my TV volume up to about twice the level I set it for ME2 for about the same volume, and even then the voices sounded like they were whispering.
Otherwise, really enjoyed it.

Would have liked more dialogue within it but that'll be in the full game I know that. I noticed it skipped a section on Sur'Kesh also, probably for plot reasons. Overall I'm happy. PS My FemShep looked very good. Are others happy with their Sheps?

I just had a feeling that the important parts for ME weren't worked out enough. Conversations were nerfed to 2 identical answers, intro was rushed and completely without explanation and lots of confusion (even for someone who played Arrival).
I am aware that "it's just a demo", but I think I am able to form an opinion of the current state that was shown to me.
Its not the entire intro to mass effect as far as I am aware. I am certain there was more to the earth level that we are not seeing.
Does anyone else know for sure?

I can't really speak to that (game dev side) but I'm sure plenty of devs are paying attention to reactions and feedback.

Don't make it too low though, because on my old TV, in some games the edges would get cut off, and as such, for some games, part of the hud would get cut off :/Jarrett Lee wrote...

The best bet would be to somehow be able to adjust it, but that might be hard.

they should, we helping them with this observations that they might have not considered as *important* or that we would be just *okay with it* honestly theres so much to improve. the game i mean the demo is nice but if thats how the final product is gonna be , you guys can do much better than that, in certain things of course.

I agree that the HUD elements could use some position tweaking, but I think that should be done on a user by user basis. I did have some trouble with the cover, but I haven't had any audio problems and I'm pumping this through my TV speakers AND a set of externals.

Ah yes I had noticed that it was more subtle, too subtle ha.
Another thing I loved was the score that played when Shep sees the kid trying to escape. Even though I had heard it briefly before it was more touching with your own Shepard involved.

I could imagine that this was the intro for ME3-created characters, new players. The imported Shepards would get their intro that explains how you came to the Alliance, where your crew is etc... just an idea.

As for Gameplay, I jumped straight to Insanity, got a good taste of what's to come- it definitely exceeded expectations, and I'll be happy to play on Insanity first time through the full game. Almost all my deaths could be accounted for by player error, and the rest were basically due to being unused to the interface. Once I got used to the new tactical movement/cover mechanics , and realized I could- and needed to- roll, I subsequently died a lot less, really started getting in the groove. Not being able to switch the weapons loadout to reduce cooldown was a little annoying, but we know that'll be in the real thing anyway. Vanguard felt better than ever, and while I was a little underwhelmed by the Infiltrator, that's primarily because my customary method of inflicting pain (the sniper rifle) was nowhere to be seen.
A few things that really stood out to me:
Even on Insanity, most of the enemies lacked protection layers. So while the enemies are much tougher, HP-wise, biotics are now much more useful than in ME2. I think Bioware struck a great balance there.
They really weren't kidding about needing to play smarter. The section on Sur'Kesh with those two Engineers and turrets wasn't too hard on my Infiltrator run; due to Disruptor Ammo and Sabotage, I powered my way through. But when rocking a Vanguard, I died. And died. And died some more. Yet when I started playing it smart, paying attention to enemy behavior, taking advantage of the available cover to move both toward and away from the enemy, and used all my allies' abilities at the most opportune moments.... then in a run or two I wiped the floor with Cerberus. And it was glorious. If the whole game is filled with experiences like that, I'm going to be one happy camper.
Grenades. Just grenades. Basic Cerberus Troopers aren't too great a threat, but when they toss those grenades around, it really puts paid to the old methods of staying behind "safe" cover and trading shots. It forced me not to get complacent, to learn the zone layout, and I think that's a great addition to the mix. (admittedly, there were flash grenades in ME2, but I never much felt threatened by them. These, on the other hand...)
I'm now more eager than ever to see the story unfold. Character-driven narrative (and character antics in general) has always been the strongest part of Bioware's games, and with the combat this strong, I expect the story presentation will blow me away come March.
P.S.: I actually used Cryo Ammo. I *never* did in ME2. Same situation as with Biotics, it's consistently more useful against mooks, and the nastier enemies too once their protections are stripped.

I found the scenes on earth to be more or less perfect. A great start-off point. Emotional, sets the mood and tone, and everything moves very fluidly
Agreed. Though I do still kinda feel sad that the trial is cut from the game. Shepard is already trialed at the point where the game starts. He's already relieved of duty for 3 weeks or so when the game starts.
Yeah, I was really hoping for a begining sequence with giant media-covered trial that gets interrupted by the reapers. But this will do.

I did run into a few issues though:
A couple times when I've used certain powers that you would normally stay in cover for (ammo powers, shielding, etc) Shepard sometimes gets out of cover to use the ability. On normal I usually lost my shields and some health, but on insanity, I could get players getting obliterated because of it. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.
And I noticed that I have to be virtually right next to interactive objects before they even pop up. In ME2 you could see these objects from quite a distance and I could interact with them from a few feet away. Not so in ME3, it seems I have to be almost touching an interactive object before the text isn't grayed out. I missed several items the first time through because of that.
And lastly, the normal movement speed in combat is much too slow. I feel like I'm slogging through waist-deep water if I'm not sprinting or rolling to my next destination.

I've seen playthroughs of the demo and it looks absolutely amazing - I'm psyched. Only thing bad I have to say - and it pains me to criticise this - is that the character creator is wierd for femsheps. I don't like the new hairstyles and there's something odd about the eyes.
I mean I feel like my FShep is going to go from this to this.

Yeah most people on the forums have noticed some irregularities with the CC I'm sure they'll fix it especially invisible eye shadow! For personal preference I wish their would be better lighting.
