How to make the developers listen to us PC gamers (Chris Priestly we need you)

Not saying you're a pirate and I'm not trying to start THAT debate here, just providing a much more comprehensive and credible report from someone PC gamers should have universal respect for.
Anyway, where the heck are those darn signatures?
Well, this is one of the most brilliant pieces about the subject I've read.
There is one "small" point to it that I've even wrote the author about. While I agree with the article as a whole, he only measured console piracy via downloads. The bulk of console piracy is cheap-made illegal copies selling for 10 bucks on "stores" all around. So for me it's even worse than PC's because someone is actually making money out of it. Like I said, I believe that anyone who will play a pirated console game will have a spare hardware for that. And they may or may not have a PC to d/l and burn the files. It's simplier and faster to spend 10 bucks. (And in this case I mean $ 10 Reais, around $ 5.5 US Dollars, when a console game here costs around 200 Reais/111 USD). I never touched a console in my life but I've seen some of those "stores".
Oh, and there is another point to. Digital sales. Most statistics do not consider it. Skyrim had more players at one same time on Steam than MW3, if I read it right somewhere, and it was a huge number, in the millions. Doesn't it mean that the game sold very well?
The market is still there. Not all PC owners are free loaders. Make it right and it will pay... or not! How would I know? heh These issues are listed in the article as a consequence of exclusive console development and then just porting it.
Perhaps there could be a middle term? At least I expect ME3 to sell very well for the PC but that's only my wish. I have no idea how well ME2 sold. I only know I bought it and everyone with the registered mark of it under the avatar and marked PC on their profile/games list did too. (for the PC I mean) Should we really be penalized? Isn't there a way to fix at least some of the basics?
- Fewer options for properly configuring and adjusting the various graphics and audio parameters in a game. Consoles are a fixed hardware platform, hence don't require as much fine-tuning as PCs, nor have as much scope for improving visuals.
- Framerate caps built into the engine.
- Poor performance because the engine is optimized for fixed console hardware not a variety of PC hardware.
- Graphics compromises necessary for consoles but not for PCs. Examples include lower resolution textures, forced texture streaming and aggressive distance LOD systems, resulting in less immersive graphics.
- A lack of modding tools, often a complete lack of even the ability to apply basic modifications to the game engine, resulting in even less flexibility and longevity.
- Inappropriate or unmappable control layouts due to the controls originally being designed for console controllers not a keyboard/mouse combination.
- Console-orientated user interfaces resulting in awkwardly large or badly placed HUD or menu elements on the PC for example.
- Artificially restricted areas, less complex gameplay and storylines, highly scripted linear gameplay, automatic aiming systems, and shorter games with far less replayability. All designed to satisfy not only the hardware limitations, but more importantly the more casual gaming style of the mainstream console audience.

I take offense to this, but I'm not going to dispute a claim that I also feel is accurate, and I'm a console player.

EA is publisher.
publisher gives developer (bioware ) money and schedule to develope contracted game title.
Cos' EA publisher has the money, they have upper hand when it comes to deciding which development team they acquired they keep or not.
In this case, EA long ago decided rpg is niche genre compared to prominent genre like fps (call of duty which several millian is playing) and they decided to reduce money and time that is allocated to rpg dev like bioware.
Well, it might be serious, adult stuff for you to understand, so I will not expect you to fully understand what I've just said, well, ppl who knows about it, knows.
Publisher EA and worker Bioware relationship.
No EA is not the publisher. BioWare is EA. EA acquired Bioware there is no contract, Bioware is not an independent contractor. Nor does contracting an indpendent developer work that way, developers contact publishers, to publish their product.
EA may choose to influence the general direction of BioWare or and IP, because they own it.
You are very very confused, you also sound like a fool "serious adult stuff" I would stop now before you embarrass yourself, you are out of your league in this discussion.
EA ( parent company ) bought out bioware (subsidiary company). So
EA is not bioware. EA owns bioware studio and has power to decide
which game bioware developes for how long.
Or I don't know the EA's exact business structure but
EA
owns many studios like bioware, and "THEY CAN MAKE BIOWARE DISSOLVE" if
they decide to if they think keeping bioware (component) is not
profitable any more.
EA is bigger, Bioware is a component of EA.
Maybe you can learn more about Merge and Acauisition if you decides to take economy class in college.
Thank you for repeating my point for me, and changing tact once you realised you were wrong on principles of contract and corporate structure.
The exception is that EA is not BioWare please re read, what was written. What was written refers to the fact that Bioware does not exist as an independent company, it is a studio, an asset of EA, or a subsidiary company within EA's corporate structure. EA has public listings as a PLC, BioWare does not. There is a difference you have clearly missed.
I also suggest you take an economics class along with a law degree, I already have, several. And mergers and acquisitions are part of law, I suggest you look up the relevant statutes. I've studied both, not at college at university.

I'd rather avoid the entire subject unless I feel it necisary to find out if Bioware simply shammed itself out of a possible GOTY candidate for 2012.

While CerberusSoldier was abit too......abrupt, I agree. Bioware and no developer for that fact owes pc gamers anything. If they decided to use better graphic system for console instead of focusing on pc graphics, they have a right to do that, its there game until its released.
Calling the entitlement card is rubbish though. All gamers of all platforms give feedback and make requests. But only when PC gamers do it do we get called out for acting entitled. Thats some bull**** right thur.
Besides, this has never been an issue of resources, THE HD TEXTURES ALREADY EXIST.

I mean it and in a good way. It is a brilliant article describing how PC piracy is responsible, in big part, for what is happening in the gaming world where MMO's and Online connection requirement for single player games will be the way.
That guys leashes out on pirates and I wholeheartly agree with him. And he doesn't dis console or console users, quite the contraire. It is a full 9 pages article. Never seen anything that detailed and, more importantly, undeniable. I am sure when you see that list on page 3 or 4, within the context it was made for, you will not feel offended. PC gamers should because if that is to happen with 100% of the games, it is our fault. Can't say I like it but I can't deny it.

Owe is really the wrong word though. Obligated is better.
Bioware doesn't owe PC gamers, or any gamers anything. They are however obligated from a professional standpoint to provide the best experience they possibly can for their consumers, and a big chunk of that is utilizing the strengths of each platform to the highest possible degree.
Some studios are more professional and more dedicated than others though.

Report obvious trolls and ignore them.
@SykoWolf: They don't give console better graphics and most aren't throwing a hissy fit over not having it. The main purpose of this thread is to find if Bioware is considering a high(er) resolution texture pack and let them know we'd like to have it.

By watching the demo walkthrough on YouTube I can't help but notice how horrible the textures look (mainly the casual suit Shepard is wearing on the Earth mission). When they look horrible while watching it on a compressed YouTube video I can't imagine how awful they would look on my TV. Although I agree, graphics don't make a game but great graphics add to the overall experience. This is a thread about PC users, if we properly/kindly ask the developers on Twitter to release a high-res texture pack later on for the PC version, we would greatly appreciate it. Is anyone down on this? I'm sure mods will take care of textures but they require a lot more time while developers could do it faster.
Edit: Keep up the thread going guys but please try not to argue about stuff like consoles vs. pc's and other stuff that have nothing to do with this thread. Here are the links of the developers on Twitter in which you should kindly ask them if a High-Res texture pack is possible. I have been trying for months with not much success but if we do it all maybe we can get somewhere.
