Origin is mandatory everytime you launch the game. Origin is mandatory even if you buy the retail version and never play online. Forcing 3rd party software on us is not a good thing to do.

Who told you Origin is required to be running when you launch the game (with the exception of multiplayer)?

I have several games on my Origin account and Origin does not have to be running to play any of them.......unlike Steam.

Some games yes, but there are exclusive Origin games that force you to have Origin active if you want to play the game. Battlefield 3 for instance.

Mass Effect 3 is such a game. HOWEVER one can set Origin to offline mode.

I put brackets around "with the exception of multiplayer" for a reason.  Of course an online game would require an online communication interface..

If you're playing ME3 single player only though, I wouldn't expect Origin to be required to running.

Well it is. Games like ME3 and BF3 require Origin 24/7 no matter offline or online.

pick up an Xbox.....they will listen then

As soon as they make consoles that are that powerful that devs don't need to tune down games for them I'll buy one. Maybe Xbox 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 ... etc. Honestly I don't see why I should play games on an inferior platform. Even my laptop is more powerful than the Xbox.

So any game with a multiplayer component requires Origin to be running then...  Ah well, no biggie.

Steam has to be running regardless of whether a game is multiplayer or not, so it's not like anyone can say Origin is any worse.

Actually we got more than console players. I just wish they would make better consoles. Then we could all play on the same platform and save everyone alot of trouble.

Forgive my ignorance but WTH is Gears of Wars? Not a PC game I presume. :pinched:

Yeah it's a console game. Dive, sprint, and cover are all on the same button just like Mass Effect 3.

Does it get you stuck in some cover position exposed to open fire because you tried sprinting to save your life?

Sometimes.

I think the first one got a PC release. The other two are Xbox 360 exclusives.

If your version of the game is superior to that of the consoles, you have already been given more than any console player who pays $10 more than you for the game gets so you aren't entitled to ask for more.

That extra tenner console players pay has nothing to do with game quality or the developer or publisher.
It's a fee you pay for using the console in question, since it's a closed and owned platform. It's a sort of an extra publishing cut.

Which is AA+more graphic options.

Has AA been confirmed to be in this time?

So after 8 pages I guess i'm gonna be the only one who's gonna say i don't think the textures in the demo were bad? They looked fine to me.

AA is relatively unimportant, since you can easily apply AA through your graphics card control panel.  The most important graphical enhancement is definitely high rez textures.....then perhaps ambient occlusion.

UE 3.5 supports AO, but Bioware were too lazy to even enable it in ME2.

the answer was that because of the way ME handles textures the patch would be several gigs in size

Dude you were looking at a 720p picture with muddy washed out colours, everything is going to look consistently crap. Low textures are so much more noticeable when everything else is crisp (1080p, vibrant colour scheme, actual shadows).

I didn't think it looked like crap at all. If you wanna say inferior than sure, but to say "crap" is over exaggerating.

*shrug*

Looked fine to me as well...but we're talking about BSN where we have 20 page threads talking about HAIR customization.

re: Developers favouring Consoles
Most developers do favour consoles because development time (a.k.a money) tends to decrease over the age of a console as they become more familiar with the ins and outs of a console.

You also have less worry about having to figure out WHAT you're designing for since ATI and Nvidia seem to use different standards and a game that utilizes the latest ATI card tends not to work as well on the latest Nviidia card.

Less worry about piracy as well (although second hand games are an issue which might be solved with next generation consoles).

The ME series was always an XBox first affair anyway. Hell PC gamers didn't get ME1 till over a year after it was out.

I do hope they release a HD texture pack, since at 1920x1080 the uniforms usually look horrendously blocky.

I'd still download the freaking "gigs". I've done it before with GTA (13 gb) and i'd do it all over again.

BTW, the cause for Garrus's blurred face was probably because he had  a reversed LOD.

I would've said the same thing a year ago. Once you've been spoiled by the PC's graphics, everything under 1080p with less than 60FPS looks craptacular. Its a burden we all carry.

Do yourself a favour and never look at TW2 at 1400p at 60FPS on the PC. It'll sour your view of every Xbox/PS3 game you ever played.

False, look at what this guy has done with ME2, http://social.biowar...8/index/5314761
All those textures are not even 1gb. If he can do it then so can Bioware.

I loved The Witcher 2 and it was a beautiful game, but it didn't sour my view on console graphics because i know what to expect. My PC didn't turn me into a graphics whImage IPBre.

I don't understand, what's wrong with having a much more better looking gaming experience while playing our favorite game? If someone has a machine that is perfectly capable of doing it, why not ask for it? It's not that hard really. I fully understand that graphics do not come first in a videogame but there's nothing wrong in having sharper textures. I'm not asking for Dx11 will tessellation and all that goodness, I'm just asking for Bioware to simply give us the higher res textures, that is it.

It's not just "loving" the witcher 2. Stop gaming on your consoles for 3 years and then come back.

Then you'll notice a difference.
