To be honest I like all the squadmates so I really don't have an issue with the ME3 squad.

I have no problems with the ME3 squad either. Still...more members means more combinations. It would add to the re-playability of the game.

Dude are you on Crack! I have played ME1 and I personally believe that most of ME2 squad are signifficantly more interesting than the guys from ME1.

First, yeah, while ME1 was a better story, the character developement in ME2 was much better, and I got to know the ME2 characters way better.

Second, this harping on about casual gamers and typecasting James as designed for them is gettin' trite. Personally, I don't know crap about James...because the game hasn't been released yet. =/

Look I dig Miri & Legion too (+ Zaeed, Samara and Kasumi) but I'm not gonna say that ME3 squad sucks because I can't have these people in my team.

Granted Horizon is terrible and it does not paint the VS in the best picture. And you know them in ME2 for like 5 mins?! I personally love both Ash & Kaidan and I would have gladly send one of the ME2 team mates in Virmire if that means I can keep those two.

LotSB gives a *very short* glimpse of Liara, personally I didn't like her in ME1 but I really dig her character development in ME2, I say give her a chance.

I won't comment on the 2 secret squadmates because... I'll believe it when I see it.

You play ME2 without knowing Miri & Legion and you ended up liking them so why not give the new peeps of ME3 some chance, I mean you don't even get to know them yet. Not all sequels have to have the same teammates as their prequels.

okay, gotta admit youve got me there, i do like liara she was pretty cool for the amount of time she was in ME2, and i saw wrex and instantly want kill something with him! but i think they couldve done a little more for those of us who havent played the first game and dont wanna buy it (moneys tight nowadays, and ive already beaten ME2 how i want it so why redo all of it a few weeks before 3 comes out?), but i als dont know whats going to happen in ME3 so i guess we will all wait and see. either way, ME3 is gonna be pretty amazing just as long as jokers there (who else could pilot the normandy? )

I'm liking the ME3 squad the more I think about it. I loved the ME1 squad who are mostly back for ME3 and while I did like the ME2 squad a lot I don't mind a lot of them having smaller roles in ME2. There are a couple (Miranda, Samara, Legion) which I would of liked as squadmates in ME3 a LOT but getting Ash/Kaiden  & Liara back while adding Vega (who I like quite a lot) & EDI is worth it for me.

I don't get why they made EDI a squaddie when we already had our robot, Legion. She was fine on the ship, and frankly I don't see why Legion dieing in the suicide mission mattered. First odds are he survived the SM. Then he's a robot; you ****ing rebuild him, and even if he got vaporized he's Geth, so he's uploaded to the network. Just redownload his data into a shiney new platform without N7 armor and the "hole." 

Legion sounded so awesome in the leadup to Mass Effect 2, but you got him so late that you never really had a chance to develop the guy.

well, the squad (six squad-mates was it? - well i will list them, so you can confirm or deny: 1. Kaidan or Ashley (Kaidan for me then...mostly ^^), 2. Liara (about time...missed her in ME2), 3. Tali (like her of course), 4. Garus (like him to - kind of...but i do not use him often, so i could do without him), 5. vega (what is he? - soldier? tech?...not a biotic is he?...well like him, but would rather have someone from ME2 for him like LEGION or Kasumi), 6. Prothean (does someone know his name?...well like him too - question: what sex is our prothean?) and of course optional (collectors edition i think...and DLC): 7. EDI (this really confirmed that we could get the cool AI as a mate? - sorry but i was of BSN for some time...am catching up now that ME3 is about to come out)

well my thoughts on the squad:

i would love to have more members (going so far as having two of every species wie know from ME-Universe (every humanoid one of course...also a hanar with a big cannon strapped on would be kind of cool...or a volus "biotic god" ^^)

also i seems that some classes are not there as squadmates anymore (would need to look it up what classes)....

well let's see how it plays out, also i am dissapointed that they made so many cool characters for ME2 and now all of them get the boot and that irks me because i liked miranda for example - also i seldomly romanced her, or Kasumi (would have liked to be able to talk to her though....and maybe even romance her) or samara (would have loved a samara romance...), or mr. funny (mordin!) who does not like the gilbert and sullyvan singing salarian?

 I am disappointed with the lack of ME2 squad members in the current known Squad list. However after seeing Mordin and Wrex's roles in the Demo I feel the characters will still be given a fair amount of screen time. I understand the fact that allowing you to take all 15 previous sqad members plus the 3 new ones would be silly and offer no time for character development for any of them. 

As for the current squad I have no real problem with any of them. I like Ashley (Kaiden always dies for my Shepard), Garrus, Tali and Liara. Vega looks like Optimus Primal (see Beast Wars to get the reference) but he seems like a cool guy. I won't judge him befor eI even get a chance to talk with him. EDI I'll have to see how they handle it, but I like Tricia Helfer, so she shouldn't be a problem. Prothy I already like base don his look and voice, so I doubt I'll have a problem with him. 

I admit however the lack of Jack disappoints me. I still have hope that she will be back. No matter how many people tell me she isn't because "THE LEAKED SCRIPT SAYS SO!!!!!111onetwelve", I still am hopeful I will be able to team up with her full time. I also figured Miranda would be back as she was pretty much unkillable and a popular character among fans, me included.  I understand characters like Legion, Wrex, Grunt, and Mordin have obligations to their people (I kinda figured Tali would too, but thats fan service for you). I am curious for the fate of Jacob, Samara/Monrith, Kasumi, Zaeed, and Thane however. Seems like they have little to hold them back from following shepard. I don't want to be spoiled on this however. Please don't tell me. I just find it odd they all where downgraded to cameos. Can't wait to se what happens on March 6th. 

I can see how the current squad "sucks" or is terrible to some. I say play the game first and then make that judgement.

Honestly, I feel as though the ME2 squadmates are given way more story importance due to not being chained to the Normandy. They are all able to do their own thing, and shape the galaxy by themselves. They can now help Shepard in ways other than by shooting random mercs. Sure, the conversations and just having them around will be missed (Especially with Mordin, Zaeed, and Legion. Imo, the three best squadmates), but I feel like the characters will still be done justice.

And besides, we have Prothy now. Who needs any other squadmates?

What's the general consensus on Vega? Granted I haven't followed the game as much as others but I don't like having someone completely new especially another human male, marine. BioWare if they wanted something new can actually do something new and use the unique species they've created.

But no another male grunt. Meh. I'm going to miss Legion, Miranda and Grunt but that's it.

Well, I hate him. But that is mostly because he is a stupid, nickname-giving, insufferable tool that reflects everything that is wrong with the demographic that they are trying to reach with him.

Others seem to like him, though.

I seem to recall that people said the exact same thing right before ME2 came out; "the ME1 team was shafted, I want Ash/Kaidan/Liara/Wrex on my squad instead of these new guys, etc etc". But the game turned out well nevertheless.

But the thing is, they probably still wanted their ME1 cast in it, regardless of ME2 being a good game or not.

We aren't getting a squad full of "new guys" though, just some old ones we could live without.
