I remember being completely taken aback by the fact that, at first, nobody from ME1 was back. My Shepard was completely disoriented after coming back to life after two years and it took me a LONG time to warm up to Miranda and Jacob (actually, I still don't like him). Finding Garrus on Omega was awesome because it was nice to see a friendly face and, with time, I really came to love the ME2 cast.
I've played both games countless times and, for me, I think the cast of ME2 is superior.
I would seriously be okay with ME3's cast if ANYONE from ME2 were back as a permanent squadmate. At least it wouldn't be like BioWare was turning a cold shoulder to the entire cast. Even if Tali and Garrus weren't your favorites in ME1, at least they were a part of the second game. It helped blend both games together.
For ME3, ten ME2 characters are in glorified cameos or single missions!?
Sorry but that sucks. Of course I'll still enjoy the game, but this is a lame decision on BioWare's part. I know nothing about the two secret characters (aside from what they are), but Vega is a generic slice of machismo. Not impressed at all with what I've seen.
