i dont see what's so hard to understand about what Brenon has said the Xbox 360 has 512MB of memory and the PS3 has 256 System + 256 Video memory.

the amount of memory used when holstered weapon animation + other animation + other data is loaded into memory in a combat area exceeds or comes close to exceeding the system memory of w/e is the limitation (PS3 or Xbox) therefore they chose the "least important" variable and removed it

I honestly blame kinect it is the most useless feature they added to ME3 and i would rather have the ability to holster my gun than yell at my tv screen...such a waste.

Agree. Kinect is just a marketing gimmick. In marketing terms, we call it competitive advantage or diffrentiation. It's an interesting feature, sure. It does enchance the entertainment value in the game but it doesn't improve the functionality in issueing commands. In the hands of a veteran player, kinect would certainly be an useless feature. Fast paced and sophisticated FPS games using voice activated sync just won't cut it in a real competitive in game situation.

Wasn't able to holster it in the demo, but they pretty much had you in combat the whole time. Hopefully they didn't forget about it or take it out for some reason. I feel retarded running around with my gun out everywhere

Welcome to war 101...

bummer, I really hope it's there in the final product.
And if it isn't I'll be very displeased, but eventually will get used to it after a few days... :3

(off topic: The best part about the demo imo was seeing Wrex back in action :D

Well holstering weapons did allow for free orientation cam and gave a better angle for you to take screenshots.

Not just for screenshots, it let you take in the cinematic beauty of the game BW worked so hard to create. Just for pure enjoyment.. The camera would pull back and the FOV would increase.
Also, PC hacks are not an acceptable alternative, as I actually prefer using the console.

This is sad, really. I don't want to sound like another whiner complaining about how the PC version is simply a console port, but seriously, does the PC version has to be just a console port?

So you guys couldn't enable holstering for PC & disable it for console???

Have to say I'm astonished to hear about this. PC version should not have these kinds of ridiculous limitations. Period.

Huh?

I think it's kinda sad people are getting so upset about something so incredibly trivial...

The camera has been panned back to give a wider viewing angle with the gun drawn anyways, but either way, it's just not a big deal.

This is a deal breaker for me if it isn't in the final product. Who the F*ck runs around their own Normandy ship pointing their gun at their own crew all the time? This is mass effect and not Gears of War. Did EA take it and turn this game into F*cking gears? wtf?

If you don't bother to actually read what we are talking about and what the bioware guy said in this, you really shouldn't bother to post. It is about memory, console limitations and pc optimization.

He won't have it up in non-combat areas.  Most encounters will probably begin with Shepard whipping out his gun like normal, it's just that you won't be able to put it away again.  Alas.. I may get used to it.

I don't quite see how holstering is the one thing you couldn't fit in...

I'm glad holstering is gone - you never know when a potted plant might need to take a few rounds for galactic freedom. Also, it's just good weapons discipline to have a pistol up and ready at all times, when surrounded by friends, with your finger on the trigger...

I liked looking at everything in a calm state of mind once I cleared out a room. Now I have to walk around like I never finished the battle? That really is a kick to the atmosphere for me.

One of the main reasons why I avoided FPS's is because the character runs around like an idiot throughout the entire game with his weapon drawn (DX:HR doesn't count as the main character can holster his weapons.) It may be a minor thing to some of you but it's a big thing to a lot of people. I don't want to run around with a gun drawn all the time. This is MASS EFFECT, not FPS crap and not Gears where you run around with your gun out all the time.
