Sorry but that's pathetic.wijse wrote...
If all people actually read what has been discussed, they would know why the lack of holstering animations is not there. It is because of the all the new stuff in the game and because the memory of the consoles can not handle it. Thats what you get with consoles with 7 years old hardware.

Don't insult dead space, in dead space Isaac pulls down his gun and just has it ready on his hand, in mass effect 3 shepard just walks around aiming his gun everywhere like a god damn retard.

This is a deal breaker for me if it isn't in the final product. Who the F*ck runs around their own Normandy ship pointing their gun at their own crew all the time? This is mass effect and not Gears of War. Did EA take it and turn this game into F*cking gears? wtf?
Really man?
Really.
They've removed the ability to holster your weapon when you are in combat.
It's still as stupid when talking to Anderson in the demo. At least lower the gun.

i dont see what's so hard to understand about what Brenon has said the Xbox 360 has 512MB of memory and the PS3 has 256 System + 256 Video memory.
the amount of memory used when holstered weapon animation + other animation + other data is loaded into memory in a combat area exceeds or comes close to exceeding the system memory of w/e is the limitation (PS3 or Xbox) therefore they chose the "least important" variable and removed it
I honestly blame kinect it is the most useless feature they added to ME3 and i would rather have the ability to holster my gun than yell at my tv screen...such a waste.
Agree. Kinect is just a marketing gimmick. In marketing terms, we call it competitive advantage or diffrentiation. It's an interesting feature, sure. It does enchance the entertainment value in the game but it doesn't improve the functionality in issueing commands. In the hands of a veteran player, kinect would certainly be an useless feature. Fast paced and sophisticated FPS games using voice activated sync just won't cut it in a real competitive in game situation.
definitely did M$ actually think just because ME is popular people would buy a kinect for it? lol i bet they tried to make this same deal with beth because of the shout stuff but beth probably said "lol no thanks"

Brenon, could you bring more details into that? It's a RAM memory issue or disc-space file size issue? It's a problem exclusive to the demo or the full game too?
It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.
In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.
All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo).
This should help, to know why it's not gonna be in ME3.
Gotta have room for useless gimmicks like kinect right? <_<

Like I said posts ago, I didn't even play FPS games because the character has his/her gun drawn 24/7 for the entire bleepin game (can we cuss on this board?)
I'm not going to play the demo but I watched maybe 30 seconds of it. It was the part where Anderson and Shepard are on a ledge and they run and climb a ladder. The entire time I'm thinking to myself "He looks like a GD idiot, what the F is this S."
OT:
Let me ask you guys a question. Why is it that the exact same red arrow is in damn near every shooting game? You know the red arrow I'm talking about, it's the one that pops up when you're getting shot and the arrow points in the direction of the enemy. Why is this in damn near every shooter?

Maybe a DLC content will come out showing us the back ground story of how Shephard becomes mentally handicapped. That would be sweet seeing how he rolls around like a mental patient on the ground now, runs like he has spazams, and can't remember to put his gun away so he points it at everything infront of him...even his friends.

If they didn't waste their time with MP, which is something I don't even think they will support a year from now, they could have had the resources to do what needed to be done. Seriously people, more and more companies aren't paying attention to the little things and would prefer to be clones of this title or that title because they think it will sell.

I agree, one of the reason that made Human Revolultion so sweet is it was an FPS with a holster option. After Deus EX HR all other shooters feel old and primitive when I can't do something as simple as that.

Yes, I agree the kinect thing is quite useless. There is no telling how much money M$ shoved in their pockets to do it. "The complete Mass Effect experience, only on XBOX 360." I know thats what happened.

The addition of grenade tossing by enemies is a GREAT feature to gameplay and on insanity has resulted in me shouting "oh crap" more than once.
Without the roll, I'm honestly screwed here...*Tries to imagine ME2 with mercs tossing grenades*..yeah..that' REALLY won't work.

AFAIK, Kinect shouldn't impact ME3 on that level. And I can't find anything about other games' performance being impacted yet, by Kinect functionality in that way you imply.
So from what I understand, Kinect device seems to handle the translation from receiving a voice command to sending the command to the console so that it can then be executed in the game, so little work seems to be need from Bioware to implement that, IIRC.
