I didn't read whole thread but can't they patch that to PC version? I have 8gb RAM, I'm quite sure my PC can handle that tiny thing, what affects alot to immersion.

Can you imagine the uproar if pc got the feature and consoles did not, they paid for the same game.

So it's better to cripple PC-version from features for sake of equality? I paid more of my computer, and leaving out old, alot wanted feature out intentionally is just so...
They should add it to every version and cut those RAM mb's on consoles elsewhere.

The missing grain filter is a very big let down, but no holstering almost (I'm not kidding) ruins the game for me. I've played through the demo a few times now and it really feels weird not being able to holster, I don't think I can get used to it. I even prefer the system in DA2 were there is automatic holstering. Very, very disappointing.

One more aspect of this is that IMO, one of the coolest things about the ME universe weapons was that they fold and unfold. I just love to see these animations and here the sounds. But no more it seems :(.

Since it boils down to console memory, it really shows how bioware is not even trying to optimize the game for any of the three platforms.

"I'm detecting unusually high levels of melodrama Captain. Requesting permission to purge the system?"

If you actually cared that much about being able to holster your weapon, I really do pity you. It would indicate a level of obsessive compulsive behavior that must really get in the way of everyday life.

I think comments like these are right up there with those "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" comments scattered everywhere on the internet.

Except cutting the holster animation is a perfect example of optimization. Cutting pretty but effectively useless animations to allow for better performance/quality is the definition of an optimization.

What do you think that word meant?

You paying more for a gaming device to play the same product is more an example of poor money management than a justification for special treatment. You may or may not get higher resolution textures (I've seen an as yet unconfirmed tweet saying that you would) and you already get the graphically and performance superior version of the game. Asking for further special treatment is just plain spoilt.

How so? I just don't think any individual platform is owed special treatment and thus far PC only players are the only ones demanding it.

I also have a deep disgust for entitlement mentalities and that tends to bleed through in my posts.

I would argue that cutting out an existing feature (holster animation) is where the extra effort lies. BW needed to do this for the consoles. It's not necessary on PC.

You're basically asking to artificially worsen the PC version so that console gamers can feel better about themselves.

2-4 Megabytes... C'mon Bioware this is getting ridiculous. If your programming skills are not up to par, just come out and say it.

How come ME1/2 all have holstering? You can't blame it on PS3/XBOX hardware or memory limitation, ME2 managed the holstering animation just fine for PC/360/PS3, how do you explain that???

Some people already mentioned it, but Uncharted has much better graphics and a ton more animations, and it can run on the PS3 just fine. If it comes down to simply 2-4 Megabytes worth 'sacrificing' then it's just poor coding/optimization plain and simple.

I don't remember being able to shout commands (Kinect) at my squadmembers in ME2...

There simply aren't the same kind of resources available in the PS3 or 360 as you find in the average PC. So some aspects had to be sacrificed in favour of newer ones, kinect as was stated by an obviously wise and observant individual.

And as for Uncharted 3 (I stayed up all night on a complete Uncharted run) does it look good? Yes undeniably, does it look better? debatable.
There really isn't often as much going on at any one time as there is even in the demo for Mass Effect 3. So I'd bet that ME3 uses more system resources than U3.
And that all nighter's coming back to haunt me, probably shouldn't have gone to the student union bar first. So I'm going to let this train of thought de-rail before I put my foot in my mouth and go to bed.Image IPB
I'm sure some kind person will see where it was going and finish the journey.

What?! You cant holster even in the main game!! Wow that sucks. I honestly hated how I had to run around in the demo. Sure it was combat missions but I dont want to be doing it the entire game, what if we visit a world where you can shop?...doubtful but I hope so.

EDIT

I hear that you have your guns holstered in hub areas, and unholstered in combat areas, Oh not so bad then. hehe. That I understand. Meh not really a huge deal to me now. Aslong as I get to walk around areas freely and shop.

"Hello welcome to the store"

"I want this" (gun pointed at her nonstop)

"Are you robbing us?"

"No I just can't put my gun away. I've tried trust me, i'll pay"

I always had Shepard holster his weapon after combat was dumb.

Feels silly running around with your gun pointed at nothing.

Can't waste 2-4 mgs of RAM on holstering but can waste alot more than that on Kinect that only 1/3 of the playbase can use? Seriously?

The kinect feature sounds really lame. The kinect was a huge fail from the start. Mircosoft tried to make it sound like its the best thing ever and wow did it fail. Bioware could have done what Rainbow Six did with the headset command, no kinect needed. Everything you can do with it can be done with the controller and takes less time to do it with the controller.

I would be fine with another disc! That would give Bioware less restrictions regarding memory.
I'm fine with four discs, as long as it's worth the content.

Memory isn't the same as disc space. It this case an additional DVD worth of data won't do anything.

As a pc gamer myself, I'm going to say this once because it's a very irritating argument, you "CHOSE" to pay more for your pc, you were not forced to do so.

I don't mind the pointing the gun at nothing thing, But the reason I holstered was to explore the levels without having Shep taking so much of the screen.

Since the camera already steps back when you run I don't see why it doesn't step back when not in "actual" combat so as to make exploration of the levels a little less awkward.

That's not an animation issue.

Besides, now you know exactly *when* to expect danger. If Shep got his/her weapon holstered your save.

You mean it's a perfect example of a lack of optimization. They just cut something out that was present in previous version of the game to free up resources for something else, instead of optimizing the game engine to make it work. This makes it seem like they're rushing the game when it could use another few months of polish.

This is aimed at the posts a while back...

So you guys are saying that console gamers are people who can't afford a good gaming PC? Well, that's most likely true. So you're going to prove my point...

If console gamers can't afford a PC, then why should they miss out on features, AS WELL as missing out on the kind of performance and graphical parts of a gaming PC. Just because you can afford a PC, does not mean that you should be given any more, or any less.

You have to except that the majority of the world's gamers have consoles, and developers have to make games playable on them; unfortunately, this means that all versions are the same, live with it.

And before you have a go at me and call me a console gamer, know this... I have all three consoles, and a gaming PC. Yes, I have played all my ME playthrough on the Xbox 360.

This annoys me as much as it does the rest of you! But we all just have to live with it. So please, just stop all this "PC gamers are superior" nonsense.
