This is seriously sad and a lame damned excuse that PC gamers have to suffer because of console limitations.

I was getting back on the fence about getting this game when the demo came out but I do not think I can tolerate the camera shoved up ones backside (the exact reason i want to holster the weapon, so its easier to look around) whenever you are not in a "safe zone". Lets make a vast open world. Kick ass graphics. Excitement, explosions! And make you look at it through a door peephole.

The first part of the demo I was mashing all the buttons to put the stupid gun away before you have to shoot the first time just so I could get a better look at the carnage of the invasion. Nope. I missed so many items on my first go through because I could not get a wider view after the action was over.

And video game makers wonder why piracy is so prevalent on PC.

Your limitations won't have to suffer much more. Come the holiday 2012 Xbox 720 will come out, and it will have a blu ray player. So all people who play PC or PS3, this excuse will no longer be validated. So shut it, please. Thank you.

The animations needed to create the action for shepard and all his squadmates to take out weapons and to place them back takes up space on the disc. Plus you have to write the programming for the controls to work alongside the animation.

And don't quote me on the Xbox 720 having blu ray. It was announced on Attack of the Show a couple months back, and the new colors will be blue and white. And in the reveal, there were hints at a blu ray player and a possible built in kinect. So yeah.

DVDs is what is used for Xbox 360. They have anywhere around 13-15 GBs of information. And a blu ray disc holds twice that so yeah big improvement.

The issue is not the space on the Disk, it's what you need to cache in the 360 RAM.

It will have a blu ray player? So freeking what? The issue is system RAM not disk storage.

Becides when the new consoles come out the cycle will just start all over again. PC's will accelerate while consoles stay the same over their 3-5 year lifespan. So 2-3 years into the next console we are right back where we are now. Console limations PC's don't have with lazy developers that got their foothold in the PC market turning their backs on it.

XBOX 720 is a rumor, not a fact, just because it was in Real Steal doesn't suddenly mean it's happening.

RAM is the problem for Xbox 360 users who frequently mod their xboxes to have better capabilities. I am one of those users. PC gamers need to realize not everyone can shell out  80+ dollars on those fancy graphic cards and HDDs

Then developers and people like you need to realise it sucks to spend money on a rig and have another system cause you a short changed gaming experence. I love gaming on state of the art hardware with a just released game built for 8 year old hardware!

Its like making every single road in the world one lane. Buying  a STi and getting stuck behind someone in a Gremlin.

Really, state of the art and the ability to provide a great experience to you is a Subaru. Really? <_<
At least you know AMC sucks.

I'd actually like to add more fuel to the fire and say that console players are a bunch of friggin prepubescent panzies who wouldn't know a good game if it hit them in the backside. I'm so sick of console ports. -.-

I'm actually going to agree with her post again. Console players are the bane of existance. The soul reason that many games are so crappy today. All it is is port, port, port. Heaven forbid that you spend a couple hundred on a gaming rig and contribute to making better technology. I should not be shortchanged out of fun just because a bunch of console babies won't get a game that they wanted if a dev conforms to PC specs only.

So we can't holster our weapon in combat areas. I'm okay with that (not game breaking) BUT I asked myself if there is an other "running" animation / sprint animation in hub areas for shepard. The running animation seen in the Demo (in combat area) fits the combat style but running like that in peaceful / Hub-areas would look weird i guess . :/ Maybe we get two separate animations , idk

I had no issues with there not being a holstering option in the demo. I had no issue seeing the carnage, nor catching all the items. I get a little obsessive about being thorough though when I play games like ME.

Brenon, could you bring more details into that? It's a RAM memory issue or disc-space file size issue? It's a problem exclusive to the demo or the full game too?

It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.

In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.

All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo).

Well, I have 16 GB of RAM in my computer. Can PC players at least get a patch for it?

I do miss the non-narrow view of holstered weapons, as many state above.  This is perhaps the key thing, whether you use the holstered weapon mode for taking screenshots or not.

In all seriousness, it need not be this way on the PC platform, the lack of holstering, where screenshots are easily done without pointing an external camera at the screen, and memory limitations are far beyond that of any console, even with the same amount of memory (i.e., paging).

Personally I feel that if holstering is completely out, at least allow us to lower the position of the gun with same effect on the camera (i.e., same hotkey but merely lowering the gun)?

EA/Bioware; patch for PC, please?

I though a new Xbox wasn't planned to come out until around 2014, since both Microsoft and Sony decided to create a 10 year life span for the 360 and PS3.

I'd be surprised if a new Xbox or PlayStation comes out even then. I think they view the console redesigns as extensions of the platforms' overall lifespans. They want to milk this generation of consoles for as long as possible. I also very much doubt Microsoft would be willing to include their competitor's technology in one of their consoles.

I just can't understand why nice little features need to be stripped for the "bigger picture". There's no excuse for removing animations, especially ones that matter. I hate running around having my fun just UP ALL THE TIME. I'm a god damned Adept, I don't need to fire my gun all the time, I have POWERS.

You know there's bigger context sensitive non-sense in this series than holstering in a dangerous area, right. Shepard is still incapable of walking quickly outside of cutscenes. Looks like he/she's on ice and if he/she were to walk any faster there'd be much falling on ass. Yeah, it totally makes way more sense to job everywhere than to holster. Or to run and look like an orangutan. Or to give ManShep a kickass leather jacket and FemShep an awkward leather minidress. Sometimes you have to let the nitpicky stuff go.
