Is it still possible to holster weapons?

I feel like the biggest douche ever looking around the room, pointing my sniper-rifle at everything. Really kills the mood for me.
I also found myself often walking from place A to place B with my weapon holstered, now i find myself sprinting everywhere.

A patch would be nice.
Don't be silly.
All PC gamers are pirates, they deserve nothing more than a sloppy console port with blurry textures, no multiplayer text-chat, horrible fov, no real anti-aliasing and crappy controls (seriously, you'd think the keyboard has enough buttons for a separate "USE" and "take cover" button).
And didn't they say it's due to consoles memory limitations or something?

I doubt they would do so... we are not paying a motnhly fee and this is not an mmo unfortunately

In combat areas, you have your gun out... in more hub-like areas you don't.
It's unfortunate, but sadly it was needed to claw back a significant chunk of memory.
Hey Brendan,
I can understand the sacrifice needed with all the new movements, unfortunately it turns Shepard into a toy soldier stuck in that fixed combat position. I noticed when she (in my case) faces a wall or squad mate she'll lower her weapon. Could this possibly be mapped to the 'back' button much like the holster was? Personally I'd give up the quicksave as the combat stance is very stagnant and really does detract from the emersion in the fights.
Thanks!

And i didnt even mentioned no "film grain" and lack of decent textures on PC. It looks plastic, it feels false and it takes away a lot of Mass Effect immersion and magic.
Don't start with memory and other issues. For ME1 and ME2 it was alright and for ME3 its a memory issue. Epic failure BIOWARE!

I am sorry to say this, but that is a childish way of thinking, and also a poor excuse for not paying for the games you play. One of the basic principles of business is that you tailor your product for a paying customer. If you do not pay for your games, you have no right to complain, plain and simple: how can you find faults in something you got for free? And why should BioWare listen to you? Because if they do, you are going to go out and buy their game? Really? Who guarantees that, you? Do you give your scouts' honor?Syonco wrote...
This right here is one of many reasons i decided to pirate this game. This is such a sloppy console port it's not even funny. Sorry to the console crowd, if it really is a hardware limitation -- but pissing on the PC crowd like this does not get you my $60.
Until you learn how to create a game that takes advantages of the PC hardware i'll continue to pirate. ****** off VaporWare.
Anyway, this thread, and many others like it, serve to inform BioWare of our discontent with certain decisions they made while designing this product. We, as paying customers, have the right to voice our opinions. It's why this forums exist. BioWare, on the other hand, have the right to heed them or don't, as they see fit: they made the product, after all. However, a paying customer today may not be one tomorrow. Mass Effect 3 is a finale of the Shepard saga, and as such there was no way I wouldn't buy it. Next BioWare game though? I'll think thrice. But even if I don't buy it, I won't pirate it, either, because that would be a hypocrisy: if you like a game well enough to play it, you owe it to the developer to buy it. End of story.

Just to quote you there with that bold text.
Me personally would never buy that game if i knew the site saying "Available now" was misleading and i had to wait for 3 days for the game to unlock for me, that's nowhere near "Available now".
If i knew there is no face import from ME1 ME2 to ME3 and i have to use 3rd party sites just to import the face i would not buy it.
If i knew that there is no weapons holstering i would not buy it.
Your "paying customer" rage and aplomb is laughable. I would not buy the game if i knew about all these things in advance, i would wait out for BIOWARE to improve the game to ME1 and ME2 standard or would simply miss it and watch it on youtube. I didnt knew that since EA and BIOWARE did their best to "market" and not mention about these huge showstoppers.
I am a paying customer but i feel cheated to say the least. The game stripped of its magic in half to say the least and i didnt even started to play it because i'm stuck with recreating face of my Shepard and searching the forums for that holstering button.
What that pirate pointed out and wanted to say as i understand is that Mass Effect 3 is nowhere near ready for release status and we, paying customers just fools that we paid for unfinished product stripped of many things that earlier games of the franchise has in favor of console ports. I disagree with piracy and would not resolve to that to play the game but cant blame him for hinting us that we are fools. I feel like a fool.

I'm playing now and its absolutely not like it was when i switched from ME1 to ME2. It's just not my Shepard in ME3. Its not the way i want to play without holstering and FoV and with so limited dialogue options and choices to make. The game have absolutely great things in it that i love and thank BIOWARE for them. But it's just not Mass Effect RPG/Action i loved so much. Its a different game that resembles Mass Effect

Brenon, could you bring more details into that? It's a RAM memory issue or disc-space file size issue? It's a problem exclusive to the demo or the full game too?
It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.
In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.
All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo).
It seems as though you guys compressed a lot of the animations as well, especially in scriptables. Was this primarily to allow for improved texture quality?

Loaded ME1 to play. Feels like Sci-Fi RPG triple A class and not like class B shooter for consoles that we got recently.

I agree 100%. The limited dialogue choices (you can "feel" the points where choice should be made, but isn't), too narrow FOV, no holstering (bugs me a lot), sub-par journal, crude animations... it all points to a conclusion that BioWare has bitten more that they can chew. That's why I think it's important to sound off. If BioWare have any shred of respect left for it's players, they should take the time to address as much of criticism as is technically possible. Dialogue is already recorded, but the rest? The rest could technically be patched. Will it be? Only BioWare knows, and they play mute. However, I know they read this forums (even if they don't sound off), and I know they are aware of the criticism expressed by the players. That's why I keep posting. Hope dies last, right?Alexbr wrote...

It really looks as if Shephard is just a stupid shooterfigure stuck in this stupid pose.
That and the reason that it´s now really hard to get a good look of the surroundings is what ruins the experience.
But I bet that Bioware won´t do anything about it. They probably won´t even comment on this problem. It´s just sad.

God. I hate it when i have an amazing view, and i can't look around it properly. Imagine standing on the edge of a mountain, POINTING YOUR GUN FORWARDS. Christs sakes, this is really killing a great deal of athmosphere for me.
Yes, yes yes. It's about atmosphere and immersion for me. Not for everyone I know, just was a real neat way that added enjoyment to my game experience.
Still love the game, but when I noticed they took it out - /disappointed
