I guess the lack of confirmation confirms that the intro in the demo is

...the actual intro of the game.

players of the demo, professional reviewers - everyone has said the same thing: "the intro feels rushed and confusing."

i fail to believe that BioWare wouldn't catch how poorly paced the intro is. i just can't bring myself to believe it - but the leaked demo AND the official demo all start at the same place - and no dev confirmation of a trial (or anything) before the demo start point leaves us with only one conclusion:

where the demo starts is where the game starts. good luck to new players because they are gonna be so confused, and a wasted opportunity for import-players to refresh their choices.

If somebody gets confused by the intro, then they are too young/dumb to play video games anyway.

Seriously...just like ME2, it holds your hand and explains basic game mechanics while showing an impressive intro story.

There isn't any conclusive evidence that the demo intro is the game intro.

I don't think it's rushed or confusing.

Unless someone didn't play Arrival, I don't get how it's confusing.

The confusion in the intro isn't so much a gameplay confusion, it's a narrative confusion. There's no real explanation of how Shepard ended up where s/he is, what became of his/her trial, how s/he knows Vega, what happened to the Normandy crew after ME2...

But I didn't think that was a particularly bad thing, and I'm satisfied with the opening should those things get explained down the line in the game proper.

Rushed, yes. Confusing? Not really.

And I don't see how "lack of confirmation" can "confirm" anything. They are antithetical by definition.

It would be from the perspective of some one that has never played Mass Effect.

OFC IDK WHY those people would even buy ME3. But there is a reason for what their saying. (Its just not a very good one in my opinion.)

Uh, I dont know, maybe the fact that the game suddenly jumps ahead an untold number of months; youre suddenly discharged, best friends with Vega... oh yeah AND the Reapers are already here. maybe its not confusing, but its jarring and poorly paced. like BioWare was too eager to get to the big explosions and shooting to build up any sort of tension or drama.

it intro just... is. it doesn't introduce anything, except an Earth smack-down Reaper style.

If you were a new player, who just recently pick this game up with little prior knowledge of the mass effect plot line, you would be confused. It's ok for most of us, we get it since we have played me2, but I worry for others that just picked me3 up if they will get scared off by the demo's intro. For me it feels rushed, so here's hoping for a better intro

Confusing isn't the word for any veteran of the series, but I can empathise that it hasn't effectively established itself as the supposed "ideal entry point into the ME universe" for the newcomer. Rushed is how I would describe it though certainly.

I assume there will be a video of some type before what we saw in the demo. Other than that, it was perfectly fine. I like how quickly they throw you into it, it adds to the sense of urgency and confusion I'm sure all the characters should be feeling at that point.

Remember, they have to fit the entire Reaper war into this game.

Yeah. Doesn't feel like Bioware's classic, measured cinematic style at all. I'm still willing to bet this isn't the authentic introduction. Image IPB

There's a thread already going on this very subject. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9234841/1

They very much needed a trial sequence in which they detail what happened in Arrival and kinda bring players up to speed.

There is already a lot of scenes missing in the demo, I"m still convinced that the very first one is missing.

Vega's introduction was left to a comic book. As for the trial, I'm not too concerned that the lack of it going to a defense committee to confirm that the Reapers are on the March. As for the rushing part, Reapers, invading Earth, have to flee. I don't see the need for a superficial explanation for an hour when your ass is on the line again.

It would make sense if it was, minus some parts. They wouldnt make an entirely separate demo that has nothing to do with the game, and they would not put the demo in the middle where it would be hard to omit spoilers. It is most likely the beginning.
