Mass Effect 3 starts (roughly) 6 months after the end of Mass Effect 2. It starts with the end of the trial of Commander Shepard during which the Reapers first arrive on earth. This is the bit that starts the game and the demo.
I guess the lack of confirmation confirms that the intro in the demo is

It's funny how we read people saying things like "this is a WAR! do you expect the Reapers to wait around in space while Shepard walks around" in reference to our concerns about it feeling rushed. what they are doing is missing the point; there is no build-up, no tension, no drama. the devs can make the Reapers show up anytime! why the hell can't shepard have some meaningful, interesting conversations with Vega, Anderson and Ash/Kaiden while waiting to be called into the hearing. Give us some context, give us something to help us understand what we've missed - that's all we're asking for.
It's like the game starts, shepard is rushed to the hearing, bam bam two lines of dialogue, Reapers show up, boom boom, start shooting things. it's like, where did BioWare's awesome sense of pacing go? they used to be the king's of this kind of stuff.
kotor dude kotor (arguably the best rpg of all time)
The lack of intro made sense, though. The protagonist literally didn't exist before the intro started (in that personality).

OFC IDK WHY those people would even buy ME3. But there is a reason for what their saying. (Its just not a very good one in my opinion.)
Even those people would have the comic where you make your decisions for previous games if you aren't importing, right? That's going to be in the release version of the game, right?

Seemed well-paced and non-confusing enough to me.
Really? And you didn't want to scream "Well you didn't F***ing listen to me when I TOLD YOU TO PREPARE!" after one of the plebs says "That's it? That's our plan?"
The only saving grace is that it doesn't last long and hopefully you can skip through most of it.

I thought it was better than ME1's snail-paced tomfoolery and ME2'S sit-back-and-do-nothing-for-half-an-hour.The only saving grace is that it doesn't last long and hopefully you can skip through most of it.

There will be a bit for people with no imports to set flags, but aside from that, I'm thinking the demo IS the beggining.

You all do realize there was a 2gb limit, right? You do realize the Shepard in the doem doesn't have any choices imported, right? Wait 22 days, then start complaining.
Already confirmed it's not going to be in-game.
All Chris Priestly did was play market doublespeak by saying there was a trial (and there was... just not in-game) when most of the fans here were asking whether the trial ITSELF was going to be in-game.
*sigh*
Guess Bioware just wanted to jump directly to the exploshuns. After all, can't go boring the action crowd with such a boring concept as defending or affirming your choices and integrity in front of the galactic community. <_<

Bro (lady?), What I mean by that is that there's most likely more dialogue that is auto-completed in the demo because of either space concerns or because the demo!Shep isn't imported. Also, one must consider the possibility of a flashback between Earth and the next mission.Savber100 wrote...

If nobody could see this coming from the way dialogue and plot lines were handled in ME2 than I'm not sure what to say. ME2 set the standard, that standard being Michael Bay/Transformers style story telling, all visual, little substance. "Tell your friends we're comin for them" is a line uttered in the femshep trailer, I mean, really?
I wouldn't be surprised if Shep defeats the reapers by jumping on the mother reaper's back and pulls it's brain box out with his/her teeth..
Bioware as of late has had some serious problems with pacing and narrative structure along with representing emotional response properly. Shep in ME2 does zero soul searching after being freakin dead for 2 years. Any of the squad mates that died during the suicide mission got nothing, no dialogue, no mourning, nada. DA2, you lose your brother/sister, then most likely the other and your mother and we get all of "meh" out of Hawke for the most part.
*puts tin foil hat on* I really believe that EA has rushed Bioware into a corner of which they can't get out of. 2 years for a game this size just isn't enough time, and it wasn't enough time for DA2 either, which became painfully clear. I'll still hold out some hope that for the most part, the game will excel and be a rollercoaster of greatness, but after being burned twice now by Bio, I'm staying cautious.

Sadly, I think you're right. EA's mad rush for profits is leading to unreasonable timelines to finish games, and it's severely hurting the final products. Dragon Age 2 was rushed out in about a year and a half and you could clearly see where the corners were cut (the poor design decisions didn't help either).
I remember a conversation a few weeks ago complaining about the lack of hair movement, and the Bioware response was "Do you want us to spend time on that, or on gameplay?" The implication was that there was a fixed amount of time that was going to be spent on developing the game, and after that time the game was going to be released whatever the shape it was in. What happened to releasing the game when it was finished? What happened to taking pride in doing a job well done, even if it takes more time and effort than doing it half-assed?
I'm really hoping Mass Effect 3 is amazing and all this worrying is all for naught. But if ME3 is anything like the disappointment that DA2 was, it's time to accept that EA murdered another cherished franchise.

I think ME3'll have a bad intro from the looks of things now, though I expect the rest of the game to still hold up.
