I wonder if we're going to get an explanation of how the Alliance just "took" my ship from me.

You surrender it as Hackett suggests at the end of Arrival..at least that's one way.

That would certainly fit for a paragon shep, but a renegade?

They drag you away in chains, kicking and screaming, and take your ship.  Your crew was all out on shore leave and you were asleep.

Know who else tried to stop shep when he was unarmed and sedated? Dr. kenson's team in Arrival...guess that didn't work out too well...

I hope that was sarcasm, the Normandy is as iconic to Mass Effect as the Enterprise is to Star Trek, but I heard they had the interior decorators in.

Yes but they didn't have chains, see how that works.  Shepard's not just unarmed and sedated, s/he's unarmed, sedated, and restrained.

Ok how about this one, the Alliance sets up a new shop on Illium and when you inevitably come by to muscle them into giving you a discount the floor infront of the counter drops away and you end up sealed in a crate.  Your crew surrenders the ship under the condition, "Do it or we put a few new air holes in the crate."

Alternatively they set a trap and wait for you right at the Mass Relay (stealth sytstems don't work at FTL so they can hit you right after you exit the relay).  The opening volley conveniently cripples your ship and given the option of surrender or die you surrender on the condition that your crew receives a full pardon.

It's called Canon Plot, Shepard surrenders regardless of your background.

Just to clear up the confusion with the ranks, taken directly from ME1 Collectors edition.

Sorry about the quality.

That's awesome.  Unfortunately, the ME 2 codex arrangement is different then this, or I'm reading it wrong.

This post has been liked.

Whether its the VS's or not, they'll probably give it back...they know what Shepard's capable of.

to be honest it does not matter who has command of the normandy as long as shepard can command the ground forces.

A Captain of a ship should not be going on away missions

Guess someone never watched Star Trek.

other than kirk, the others stayed away much of the time

They are not spectre's at the start of the game, only those who have read the leaked script will know the events that lead to them becoming spectre's, and no I don't want to know!

She is a Spectre now  do you think   She is the CO and Shepard her XO or will she Give Commad  to Shepard?

I would go back and Virmire her in the one game I saved her if BW pulled that on us....though I would seriously doubt BW would place the Normandy under someone else's command.

I could see this happening.
*Shepard walks over to the Galaxy Map and picks a destination*
(behind you)
"Shepard are you sure about that?"
*Shepard turns around*
Ash or Alenko are standing there arms crossed tapping their foot

BACKSEAT DRIVERS, man....

This is the silliest theory I've seen yet, it's Shepard's ship... well he stole it from Cerberus, but that's beside the point.

And the Alliance stole it from him...and now we're back to stealing it from the Alliance. Man this ****'s getting convoluted.

Hey, Anderson basically gave Shepard the keys to it...

Ash/Kaidan served under Sheapard and daved the galaxy.
Shepard proved him/herself a capable commander.
If I were Ash or Kaidan, I'd hand command over to him/her. Let the MOST qualified do what they do.

I'm guessing resolving this problem is our first Paragon/Renegade choice.

Technically, Shepard could've been promoted to Staff Commander, and Ashley would still be underneath his rank.

My only concern is if Kaiden's a major, then there's no way Shepard can just take the ship unless Alenko gives him control over it.

Or Kaiden is shot in the face/left someplace to die.

Does this stem from just a general problem with authority or is it just because Kaidan didn't drop to his knees and beg to kiss your a** upon your glorious return as a terrorist errand boy/girl?  I actually really hope Bioware takes advantage of the fact that we, for the first time, have people on our squad with grounds to question or even countermand our orders.  It could make for a lot of interesting situations though it'd get old fast if they just disagree with everything.
