Like the title says.. I went from playing on normal to playing on hard and it definately feels more satisfying when you win a battle.

Opinions?

I find real life challenging enough, wife, kids, work and I dont need a game to create a challenge in my life, so I just like it to take it easy, enjoy the dialogue, feel the atmosphere and immersion ... much like reading a book or watching a movie, the difference is that I am actually controlling a character and making some choices.

But I am glad you are having a good time with your game on hard, its what its all about ... everyone getting their entertainment value for the money.

I just started my second playthrough on hard, my first being on normal. I find it easier now than I did the first team despite the difficulty increase because I know what everyone's abilties and spells do, I'm better at tactics, etc. I even had 2 mages last time around and now only 1.

So yes, it is definately more satisfying!

I'm only level 8 atm, being half way through Redcliffe though, so -you know what- will probably pwn me at the entrance of -you know where- and it will probably get a lot tougher but I'm enjoying my Rogue archer with dex hotfix.

Some people find Hard too easy, and some people find Hard too hard.

And so Bioware created four different levels of difficulty rather than just one. Why, what else did you think those difficulty levels were for except suiting individual player's preference? There isn't any additional "Heroic" loot or achievement!

Congratulations. You are officially insecure **** #498. Want a cookie? I just love people that try to phrase remarks like that in a 'serious' manner to pretend they aren't just utter ****s.

And fyi - hard mode isn't hard.

EDIT: The word I used rhymed with 'grass hole'.

Isn't that a little harsh?  He sounded pretty sincere to me and frankly I can sympathize with him.

Cheeseslayersmu,

You wasted the time to respond to this thread with that?

You sould like a rather angry person who is raging against something that didn't exist. He wasn't being insecure, he was sharing his viewpoint on how he enjoys playing the game.

Now rub both of your earlobes and repeat after me...GOOOOOSSSS FRAABBBAAA....better?

Difficulty shouldn't be a competition. It's a single player game, play it however you want.

It's really uncalled for to bash someone because they prefer to play on Easy or Normal, just like it's uncalled for to bash people who play on Hard and Nightmare.

Can we be a little more civil everyone?

I agree completely. I completed my first play-through with a 2H Warrior on Normal and had quite a few fights where I struggled (too bad my character profiles won't update...). Now, I'm playing through on Hard with a rogue and it feels like Easy. I'm not trying to boast, just stating that the learning curve in this game is where the majority of the difficulty comes from (planning and pulling is essential).

He sounded a little threatened by the premise of the thread to me. "I dont need a game to create a challenge in my life" -- implying that those who play on a harder difficulty do, but he is above such things?

Of course, the over-the-top response was even more defensive.

Wow. That seemed amazingly uncalled for.

Angeljoe- I did the exact same thing my first run of the game, for the exact same reason. Started my next on on normal, and then upped it to hard after a little while. Nice to have that flexibility without penalty.

In b4 the "LOL!! HARD is EASYMOADE. I play DA:O on NIGHTMAIR SOLO using NO POTS and beat teh finalz bosz NEKKID at LEVEL 3 with no statz!! LOLOLO if u play hard u are teh nubz" crowd.

The propensity for people on these forums to measure their worth through achievements earned (whether real or fake) in single player games truly is indicative of how empty some peoples lives are.

Either way, carry on...

I find winning a difficult battle satisfying. Difficulty can vary based on your party, their classes, and their skills.

I'm planning on creating a character (not in the near future) who has no offensive skills except for traps and poisons. He'll need to steal and unlock chests to gain his wealth so he can fund his trapmaking. While in battle, he won't engage in hand-to-hand combat. With a character like this, the Easy setting may still provide enough of a challenge.

As others have said, play the way you like.

Never bothered with normal difficulty. Started on hard, and it's just the right challenge for me.That's what I like about the hard mode in this game. It's hard, but it's fair, nothing is ridiculously difficult if you use carefully planned tactics.

Some of the responses in this forum is beyond my comprehension, some people apparantly feel the need to "down" others at every single opportunity.

My brother can play chess for hours on weekends on his pc constantly getting beaten and easily frustrated by the apparantly more intelligent AI, I dont think any less of him because of that, as I wrote, everyone should play any game in a way which pleases them. I just couldn´t sit in front of a pc getting beaten by the AI constantly ... my mind would go bananas.

I got kids screaming, an obnoxious and often tempered woman ... but I do love her, a boss who should have something sharp shoved up his arse and a pretty psychotic neighbour to top it all .... so without any ill intentions I stand by words, I do not need a game to challenge my life ... but I definately do not think any less of those who do.

I found Angeljoe's post quite "tongue-in-cheek" and funny! Why do some people take what others say so seriously?

Can the Forum Moderators just get rid of some of these guys? Who wants to be subjugated to this name calling?

On topic:  I find hard satisfying.  Kind of like the Witcher and Mass Effect, the harder the better as it requires full use of all the game's mechanics to survive (i.e. traps, bombs, strategy, etc.).

I lulzed at that.

I've a wife and a dog (who is babied like a child) but I play on hard! Where's my bucket of win!? Gimme!!

Really though after moving from normal to hard I felt much more accomplished and rewarded for playing.

No. Yes. I am hardly surprised.
