Then your an idiot, it's getting pretty annoying now with big game developers throwing in dieing children to try and get a shock reaction. This is no better than the vapid attempt in the most recent call of duty game.

I may be an idiot but you can't read to save your life, if it was me you were replying to.

The trailer is not the demo footage. It only shows the kid entering some shuttle. And I said it would be cool if the kid had lived. Plus, have you ever seen any kid die on BW games? I tried so hard to kill them in NWN! *tag. you're it !* *eww, you smell*

I was replying to the OP, if I was replying to you I would have quoted you. It seems that you are the one that needs to reevaluate your reading skills, in a follow up post I even stated the name of the person I apologised to.

Hate to break it to you guys - most of the Renegade players dont care what happens to the child. The Paragons here do. There are few exceptions.

It's the time to turn EMO and cry like children, because of this hyper-emotional scene.

I felt worse for the cube in Portal, tbh.

(GoW3 Spoiler!!!) The only time I ever legit cried during a game was when Dom died in GoW3. It was executed so perfectly, from the music, to the circumstances... And I wasn't even mad at Epic for killing my favorite character since it was such a worthy death for him. (GoW3 Spoiler!!!)

Yeah I don't know how to use spoiler tags on this forum.

There are no spoiler tags.

As for me, the only times I cried in a game, I think, was at the end of FFXIII. FFXIII-2 I got teary eyed, but I desperately held it in. Had to pause a couple times to clear my eyes.

The kid was supposed to be a symbol of all the innocent people who were dying. They met briefly and he says "you can't save me." just like all the people who are getting slaughtered by the Reapers. Shepard can't save them all.

It doesn't matter that he didn't know the kid, it's about what he represented. With the music, the whole scene was very moving.

It is just a goddamn child! How could the kid say that, when the typical adult cries and says "SAVE ME SHEPARD"!

I always picture male shep to be perfect for renegade shep - not giving a damn about anyone but himself. I always pictured him with glowing red eyes and scars appointing himself ruler of the galaxy upon slaying the reapers. To see him as a full paragon just seems unusual to me.

Fem shep on the other hand, is totally opposite for me. I cant ever imagine her conquering the galaxy like male shep. It would look really horrible to me, to see her with glowing red eyes and scars using humanity as a stepping stone under her boot to domination of the galaxy.

So, in the scene with male shep ''trying'' to show emotion for the loss of the child... it just does not sell it for me. Fem shep, it just looks ''right'' to see her with emotions.

This is just me however.

I almost laughed when the shuttle with the kid blew up, I mean talk about trying to force drama on the players.

Yeah ok, so I watched it and I didn't see a problem with it really. So there's a kid... kids do exist after all. There were also adults on the shuttle who died.

saw that coming from the moment he puts his cog tags on that monument, but you are right, Epic executed that scene perfectly. the music was an excellent touch.

to throw my 2 cents in, the inclusion of the kid is a classic film (literary technique) to show the cost of war by using the kid as a representative of all the innocents killed by the reapers. I saw him run into the building from the balcony as i was running toward the part where you start shooting those husks. That moment struck me (as i saw it on my second playthrough) because i suddenly realised that this kid was probably out there playing or something, then 10 min later he is toast. my shep is as renegade as they come. i still believe the kid dying has value in this case because i see in shepard expression as he is flying away (i may be crazy) a sense of determination, of steel.

the scene was done well, especially the music. it was one of those scenes where you knew what was happening the moment you saw it. you were powerless but still wanted to stop it.

The scene was moving alright. Being excited or emotional over games has nothing to do with weakness. Roll Playing Games are a form of Literature. U are within your rights to cry. They better not do something like that to my squad though.

^This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the scene

It was to show new players just how ruthless Reapers are, and to remind old players yet again what they are capable of..

Killing children isn't particularly impressive. People do it all the time. The average person could do it in three easy steps, in fact.
