I hope there is a renegade option where rather than that stupid look on shepards face I can give a "I approve" smirk. I also hope the change the kid to black or asian just to show some diversity.Total Biscuit wrote...
Honestly I found the child as annoying as he was ugly. I really wish I'd had the option to just ignore him or point out what an idiot he was and that frankly he got what deserved.
Adding in children, especially stupid ones that get themselves and others killed into sequels just for the cheap emotional trigger it sets of in the equally, incredibly, annoying 'children are the most important thing in anyone's life EVAH!!!' parents in the audience is one of the clichés I hate most in fiction
Really, the entire series of interaction with the little git should have been optional.

Exactly, but that's not the story, the renegade Shepard in the story is the one who does give a damn about his own race.Kronner wrote...
That is also what's wrong with that scene. Some of my Renegade Shepards would not give a damn about some kid.

I hope in the final release the kid charges the reaper in rage and is INCINERATED by the reaper beam. That would bring some emotion to that scene.
You just want more clips for your sick-comedy reel.

I just don't cry at cheap emotional triggers such as this child getting smoked. If they can bring the emotion from Jennys death to each character and to the overall universe then that would be great.
Fair enough.
Wouldn't expect it.

You have no choice but to have Shepard act all concerned. I'm sorry but what if my version of Renegade Shepard doesn't give a rat's ass for the little street urchin crawling around in some airduct? What if my Shep wants to get the hell out of there to start kicking ass? Nope, sorry, BioWare wants to shove sappy child death scenes down Shepard's throat.
They should have made the option to go over to the kid a renegade/paragon interupt where paragon is going over to help and renegade is pushing forward.

Why do you keep bringing up that scene? Yeah. we had spent a minute with her in a couch, but we still barely knew her. The only cool thing about that whole scene was the awesome voice acting from the dudes who shot her.King Minos wrote...

Oh jeez, come off it.
It's obvious the main problem here is that you do not get emotionally involved in games. If you feel nothing for fictional characters, than you are totally missing the point. Most, if not all, fictional stories are character-driven. You NEED to feel something for the characters - invest in them, live with them, understand them - for the story to have impact. You can't make that connection, it seems, for the most part.
That's OK, everyone's different. But stop thinking the problems lie with others, because it's not a problem, and it's not about anyone else but yourself here.
For example, I didn't feel sad at all at Jenny's death. I felt anger at the Darkness, for sure, but for some reason Jenny didn't touch me. The reason, I assume, is that is that death doesn't hurt me. I'm the kind of person who can easily make peace with death - it was the restraint of the Darkness that really brought out any emotion in me; the fact that there was a chance to stop her death, but you couldn't.
In ME3, the boy is not what makes me feel sad. It is his symbolic nature - he is there to show you that there are going to be a lot of people you don't save, and you have to fight harder for every one.
My point here is that different people connect with different things in different ways. Don't argue; understand.

To be fair, Mufasa kind of had it coming for banishing the hyenas to an elephant graveyard. They were starving, second class citizens under his cruel, oppressive and racist reign. **** that guy!
In all seriousness, I thought that the scene in which Shepard is leaving Earth was pretty epic. It was all very grim and hopeless.
What personally got to me was seeing the Alliance fleet completely destroyed in space, bits and pieces of the ships raining down on Earth, I thought that was very powerful.

My reaction was a mixture of both. Anger and sadness, that is. I think the Darkness restraining Jackie really was what gave that scene its power. Personally, I was pressing buttons like a madman hoping it would let me do something, which just made the actual death ten times harder.
