So, what happened to the trial?

Also, another complaint I have in mind is how the Reapers entrance could have been more epic. You know, I thought it was too abrupt. They could have shown them entering into the atmosphere, the first people seeing them and then, bang! They destroying that place where Shepards was talking to those Alliance officers.

Mass Effect 3 starts (roughly) 6 months after the end of Mass Effect 2. It starts with the end of the trial of Commander Shepard during which the Reapers first arrive on earth. This is the bit that starts the game and the demo.
The game (or in this case the demo) doesnt really explain clearly why he is there, youre just standing in a room infront of window watching outside when someone you dont know comes in and tells you to follow him, then you meet anderson and he basically just says "the **** you have done, you would have ended up in jail"...I think it would have been better for Anderson to say me what exactly I've done? the Demo doesnt mention anything about Arrival DLC, its not that big deal for me but it seems to cause bad feelings for some people here

That's rather disappointing to hear. I was looking forward to playing out the trial.
I can only conclude that they thought it would be too slow a start for new players and that getting into the thick of the action was the best way to start off the story. But, for those of us who have played the previous two games, it would have been more enjoyable to experience an important event like this rather than skip it completely.
Oh well, what's done is done now. I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway.
Then they should of kept the trial for those who select RPG mode and cut it out for those who select Action mode (people like Hunter who just likes to shoot stuff instead of actually roleplay/read/have an attention span, who admits he found almost half of dialogue in past game to be waste of time and skipped it). Like I said earlier this reminds me big time of how shoddy DA2 was handled via intro and horrible acts with missing years. Bioware is on a streak of cocking things up recently with their titles and I end up disappointed with their actions again. The fact they said for months would be trial and then slapped us in face with no trial just a "derp, derp REAPERS!!!", feels quite insulting to me personally.
The only question left is how much is the missing 6 months where Shepard was around and doing things plus actual trial, going to cost us as DLC? Which I am sure is their plan to nickle and dime us for it.

This. We only had...what...8 minutes or something of gameplay on earth and then the title screen popped up. And because the title popped up after the earth part, I like to see it as a prologue, with the real intro being whatever comes next. A bit like ME2 where Shepard got spaced. With the real intro being him waking up during the attack. Works for me that way.SonvarTheMighty wrote...
I'm fine with the intro. More backstory about what happened with characters will be brought up through other dialogue. I'm sure that conversations with James Vega will probably fill in more gaps than anything.

Okay, here's why I'm thrilled the trial is off, this is the final game and I don't want to spend the first ten to fifteen minutes explaining the reality of Reapers when such becomes obvious as they crash through the ceiling.
Exactly, Commander. The whole scene would be enormously redundant.

don't know why you guys are complaining about, this is the THIRD mass effect game you are gonna play, not the first, is not mandatory the game recap all events from the previous games within the first 15 minutes. And if you are a new player in the ME universe, why are you start playing from the THIRD GAME? Is like you begining to watch the Star Wars moviesand the 1st one you watch is Return of the Jedi
PS 3 owners don't even have access to ME 1 in that platform (I am not going further with this).

Seriously...the more I think about it, the more disappointed I am. It would have been the perfect stage setter for the final showdown, and a great/different way to start a game. I guess "The Godfather" should have excised the wedding in favor of Vito's getting shot.

The trial would have been great - it could have been like the Chrono Trigger trial where your actions in Arrival and other places get used to support or condemn you. I was looking forward to a great courtroom sequence in ME3, one the evoked your choices from the previous games, and am disappointed it has been cut in favor of "MOAR KILLING AND NOIZE".
not to jump into conclusions but since bioware joined EA and mass effect 2 changed more to the "action shooting system" they dumbed down alot of things that made mass effect 1 so loved.
and i get the feeling thats whats happening to mass effect 3, but i would rather not jump into those conclusions into a final situation. i dont have high expectations anymore im very iffy honestly but yet again ive played 1 and 2 im obviously getting the 3rd just to see how it ends, but not excited anymore, i guess i lost the drive of it since alot of new information released concerning mass effect 3.

If they release trial as first day dlc costing 10€ I will buy it. That's how much I was waiting for the trial scene. But that's just me. I even bought that comic thingy on Xbox just to try it out xD
wow uh.. why would you pay for something that should have been provided from the beginning like something so obvious as the trial ? i dont know man, seems like you pretty much falling into EA hands so easly.
they pretty tricky with marketing & costumer brainwash
