And whats about all the hatred towards the me2 intro im seeing in the forums? If you hate me2 intro no way you will enjoy this one
I hated the me2 intro at the time - not because it was bad - but because of what happened. I had just finished my first ME1 playthrough when I started ME2, so I was very much emotionally tied to my shepard & the crew of the Normady SR-1...ofc once the main game started it all made sense so I was happy again.
From my understanding, ME3 does start during the trial, it's just that the trial happens offscreen, and the action starts during a lull in preceedings....will be interesting to see - roll on Tuesday & then roll on 8/3.
I would find it interesting if for example your on the Citadel and you notice a recording or some news cast mention the trial. But by then I think the news would be freaking out about the reapers.

Was the trial present in the leaked beta ?
No, though their was a more satisfying reference when Anderson mentioned the Batarians and Arrival. Instead of just saying the "**** you've done..."

There's hate for it? I thought that was a pretty epic intro. It starts off the game with the Normandy getting destroyed and Shepard dying. It leaves you with a "OK, what is Bioware gonna do NOW?" feeling, and it's cool to see what happens with that.
I just feel like the internet in general just likes to whine.

That's likely because the demo isn't an import Shepard. An import Shepard would likely have Arrival directly referenced. Otherwise, they have to be generic to avoid referencing material a player might not have any idea even existed.

Like the fact that it was specifically stated that no matter if you played Arrival or not, shepard will still be on trial? Because it's canon?
I'm just gonna go with the word that it was cut from the demo to conserve memory space.

It's honestly the thing I'm looking forward to most out of everything I've heard about 3, if it's pulled off right it'll be magnificent.
But I wouldn't be surprised if it were cut.
I might like spending the first hour of the game listening to accusations, evidence, witnesses, then having the ability to defend myself as I saw fit, but I'm pretty sure casual gamers and anyone new to the series would be bored to tears.
Skipping to the big explosions like in the demo would probably be vastly more appealing to the non fan majority of players.

Also I'm pretty sure the question of what Shep was doing on Earth will be brought up when you have boarded the Normandy.

I'm glad it's gone - it would only have served to give the game a stuttering start (like Skyrim) and be a info dump for new players, For once Bioware said "F*** the new players lets just get the ball rolling".

Umm...you have that backwards. BioWare said **** the old players lets just get the ball rolling. In any case, the opening is poorly done whichever way you look at it.

The problem is that the new players wouldn't be the only confused ones, but pretty much everyone that didn't play Arrival and read Conviction, which means a lot of old players.Anacronian Stryx wrote...

Umm.. no - Old players know what Shep has done and why the alliance would bring him/her in and also why the alliance demoted Shep, Everything brought up at the "trial" would just be repetition of things that already happened and while this might be interesting to somebody who just bought his/her first ME game it wouldn't really serve any purpose other than being a info dump.
The semantics of the "trial" can be solved with Joker asking : "hey commander how was it to stand before a tribunal?" and then add appropriate dialogue options to Shep.

Anderson says anyone else would have been tried, court martialed and discharged, but your knowledge of the reapers was the only thing that stopped it from happening to you.'
It sounds like you just got grounded and relieved of command.

Why do people seem to think that scene is the hearing/trial?, that scene is when Shepard is called in to confirm what they already knew!Good Chaos7 wrote...

It's very likely that what we're playing has been slimmed down quite a bit, with excess fat for story taken off for the sake of getting to the point. Not everyone playing this demo is an avid ME fan who wants to see trial proceedings. A demo has a very slim opportunity to convert potential buyers.
That said, if "most of" the trial has been cut down to only a reference, I'm going to be upset. I wanted a real question and answer trial using the dialogue wheel.
