As it is, though, it isn't bad. Rushed, but not bad. They could have introduced Vega, but hey. Also, I'm still confused as to why it took the Normandy a few years to take off. Did Shepard telecinetically tell joker to hang on a sec? I would figure LEAVING THE PLANET would take precedence over watching some kid we don't know get into a dropship. I don't care about the kid. At all. In any way. He's a scared kid. If that's supposed to make me feel for the kid, it didn't work. Now, I didn't want him to die (I don't like it when people die), but when he left he resigned himself to whatever fate had in store for him.
Dramatics does not take precedence over logic. It should never, ever be like that, and I wish I could slap whoever made that decision (to pause the Normandy's lift-off while we watch a kid). They should have seen the kid as Shepard gets on the Normandy, the Normandy takes off, and everything's good. It was a waste of time and not logical in the least.
I also liked how Anderson had to tell Shepard to reload and pick up ammo. It made sense in ME2 because it was a brand new ammo system and anyone could miss the Thernal clips on the floor. But in ME3? Not so much. Instead of leaving ammo on the floor, Anderson should have given Shepard some ammunition. Literally hand Shepard a Thermal Clip. The player would know what it looks like, and wouldn't need Anderson to tell a SpecOps soldier to reload. This is a bit nit-picky, I know, but to me it didn't make sense.
