And there you just shattered the little ray of hope I had regarding the intro... ;)

I read in the spoiler group... supposedly someone got the game early and said when you import an Arrival save all you get is an additional line from Anderson.

Obviously this isn't proven yet but I don't have a hard time believing that the game has leaked already. Microsoft does a horrendous job at keeping checks on leaks and early copies.

One line, eh?  Better be the most informative, cohesive, thoughtful, and intelligent full sentence ever constructed by a sentient lifeform, PERIOD. :)

*Shaking head* so that one line of dialogue is going to have to explain to me how I got from being aboard the Normanyd cruising in space to being on Earth after an unspecified time period, and why I'm getting called before a (less than intelligent) council after apparently being stripped of my rank and losing my ship...

The line was "Whats that!" as he points to the sky, upon turning around to look and then back again all you see is a dust shape of Anderson left behind while his actual self is long gone.

Why is Shepard saving the galaxy in first place? Have you seen how fast that old codger can actually run in the demo. He's fitter and faster than Shepard is. :3

Pfft, Anderson is not that fit, my Shepard managed to beat him to the first ladder, mind you, on all subsequent runs Anderson gains ethereal power and runs right through Shepard, I want that power, be great for those annoying code locked doors

Sorry OT.

Not to mention he calls Shepard an old man (hm... must see what he calls FemShep)  if you don't jump over the gap and just look at it. Image IPB

Where Bioware located? Edmonton? No, not Edmonton, there are no that body of water around... According to Normandy flight to orbit - there is something like Vancouver-Seattle area down below, so maybe that's the place.

yes Vancouver merged with Seattle and created a super city...which I guess is the Capital of Earth.

Also I believe the line goes along the lines of "when you destroid that relay and killed all those Batarians." Which replaces "the s*** you done." ....thats it....

It's Vancouver. You can actually see Canada Place in the distance.

There is no 'capital of Earth.' Earth is still divided into various nation-states in Mass Effect. The capital of the Systems Alliance is Arcturus Station.

That would suck if that is the only change but Bioware makes things much worse when they claim things have a bigger impact than they really do.

I know how Earth is situated...and I know how things are. But I have to wonder why he was not sent to Arcturus Station to answer to the REAL Top Brass...rather then some random super city.

I've been wondering the same thing. I think BioWare just fudged the lore a bit to get Shepard on Earth for the Reaper invasion. It's kind of sloppy, but eh, whatever.

I'm thinking it's because, despite Andersons assurances, the Alliance still isn't taking you seriously.  I mean look at the defense committee's reaction to learning the Reapers are coming, it's clear they never thought it would actually happen.

So like I said...with all the shoehorning Bioware has done lately...maybe they made this Super City the groundside Capital of the Alliance or something.

I don't know Canada that well, Vancouver or not. I used mostly maps and some TV feed from Montreal F1. Image IPB

No. That would suck to be us - either way we screwed. We have no damn idea what's going on, what's the situation up ahead (a.k.a. in full game) and whatever we do will not change a thing. It's not some event we worried about, it's total lack of info (or projected image of presented info) what worry us. At least me.

Maybe that is their vision of "making things personal"? What is Arcturus station to us? Nothing, some space station. Even if it's biggest and most important one in human space. Earth, on the other hand, is our homeworld. Problem is, the way it was presented in demo, I felt sorry for those cruisers' crew and most military personnel killed (not that board - they felt... they don't felt at all, to be honest), but not Earth.

Thing is it wouldn't be personal to my Shepard, he was a Spacer and a Paragon, he always looked at the bigger picture rather than just human interest. My hopeful ending for Shepard was to see him and the rest of humanity make an ultimate sacrifice to stop the reapers once and for all for the sake of all Galactic life.

I have a group of fourteen people, and we've been tracking our decisions and predictions since Mass Effect 1. Not all of them have played through the entirety of ME2 yet (mainly b/c of DLC), but I got responses from those who have about this issue (nine in total). Many of them know nothing about ME3, and some of them follow the news to varying degrees (watching trailers, reading magazine articles). I'm the only one who follows the forum. Here is the bottom line:

Me:
There's no trial in Mass Effect 3.

All of them:
What do you mean there's no trial? They set it up at the end of "Arrival"! I've been looking forward to it!

Me:
No one is sure on the details, but it looks like they just gloss it over, at least as far as the demo goes.

All of them:
That sucks! Why would they even have that DLC if they weren't prepared to do something great with it? (insert various other comments, including vitriol against EA)

Not that this is a scientific sampling, but for those players invested in the Mass Effect franchise, it certainly seems to point to a severe amount of disappointment and resentment.

Likewise.
But, like I said - it could be THEIR vision of "Making it personal, part deux". Hmm, after typing this, I'm not sure - was some pun intended or not...
Regardless, I hope to see him alive. IMHO that "ultimate sacrifice" is not just overused, but abused by mediamakers. Why just not give him good old happy-ending, without that GladOS-like "we revived you for another run of tests" thing. I put those Linkin Park lyrics for reason.
BTW, it's just me or Bioware misunderstood old meaning of RPG as "people interacting game", limiting interactions to hypervelocity rounds exchange?

I do not remember GTAIV to that extent, but if memory serves, there definitely was some good gibe on that.

Ah, the 'noble' types. Always looking to be martyrs.

I hope to hell that ending isn't in. If this game *yet again* totally panders to Paragons, I'm going to be pissed.

I still wish there was a trial, I have my shepard stand in front of all of these admirals and actually role play/defend myself in front of the admirals and who ever. You know despite me likeing arrival and when I heard about the trial I was like ooh lets do the trial and I will defend myself. Now that there doesn't appear to be a trial and us players can go thru the whole thing, I'm starting to think that the whole arrival dlc was a waste of time. Sadly me likeing ME i'm starting to think of going and having my N7 Collectors edition that I just paid off and cancelling it, and getting a different game after hearing about these complaints and agreeing with some of them.

Uniformally up and down from my friends, that was their feeling - that the "Arrival" DLC was rendered pointless.  You take this event of seismic political proportions (blowing up a mass relay and killing hundreds of thousands), set up a cliffhanger leading into a trial, and then...do nothing with it.  Why bother doing it in the first place?

Again, we don't know what's in the game...maybe the Batarians kidnap him and put him on trial (like Kirk in ST6), but even still the way they seemingly gloss it over at the beginning of the game leaves a really bad impression.
