Funny, even the Bethesduh forums didn't have this much pessimism during Lagrim's lead-up, despite how utterly generic the game looked. I guess they have lower standards or something.

All the examples of the dialogue in this game make me somewhat of a pessimist.

It also doesn't help I have a friend who read the leaked script and voices his displeasure of it every time the topic comes up lol. Conversation always ends with:

Me - "I said don't tell me anything"
Him - "OK, but It was bad, just sayin"

I've read the leaked script, I've played the demo and I've heard the ME3 soundtrack. I'm pretty optimistic that this game is going to be AWESOME!

Your friend needs to get his balls out of a twist and stop complaining. Yes, the leaked script is dull, but you can't judge an entire video-game on a leaked script. The leaked script totally misses context. Everything sounds dull without context. But I trust that BioWare will handle the script well. BioWare always manages to really set the mood in their games with an amazing atmosphere, good music, good voice-acting, awesome cutscenes and decent narration.

If one thing Mass Effect is known for, it's for it's aesthetics. If BioWare keeps that up in ME3 (and it looks like they will), we're going to get an awesome game!

Optimists
I have been forming this character since '07 and I just can't wait to go further. Playing the demo made me realize how important the save import feature is to me. Even though I used my ID code in the demo, its wasn't my canon Shepard and I STILL felt connected.

Optimistic.

The business dealings and marketing nonsense have been, quite frankly, embarrassing to watch imo. Cut through all the fluff, however, and I think that the actual game is going to be awesome. I've been quite happy with (most of) what I've seen so far. Happy enough to put up with the pre-release ridiculousness anyway.

My 2¢

Pessimistic.

Nothing I've seen or heard so far makes me think the story will be anywhere near the quality or scope of the first one. Just more talking to your crew, which while fun couldn't quite compensate for the weaker (but still decent) story. That and I'm worried that almost every decision made in previous games will be rendered effectively useless, barring a few crappy emails like the last one.

But the positive aspect of negative thinking... if it is better than I feared then I'll be pleasantly surprised

Moderately optimistic. I hope Bioware did a great job with the end of the trilogy, but I have some concerns about the story.

I'm optimistic in that I think ME3 will by no means be a bad game. It will at very least be 8/10 material. I'm pessimistic in that when I play game I have been excited for for such a long time I always end up noticing every single flaw. It won't be perfect and when I will look back on ME3 I will probably think it was a great game, but my first time playing it I will probably be dissapointed.

Agreed, I hope that theres a launch trailer that makes me forget all that other nonsense.

Pessimistic, based on:
- a main squad I don't particularly like
- the wax doll syndrome
- the apparently reduced dialogue options as per the demo (I know there may be more in the full game but still)
- the poor facial animations
- the godawful action crowd marketing

This, plus some of the plot based stuff I read in the script is unimpressive at best. Also seeing them reuse the combat animations from ME2 doesn't help my faith in bioware. Reused assets is never a good sign.

I'm optimistic, but concerned at the same time. There are alot of storylines that if not executed right could be really silly (ie TIM). I'm also not a fan of the intro to the game or the amount of automatic dialogue.

However, I've liked everything Bioware's done so far, and am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

In honesty,  I'm seeing alot of potential for a trainwreck here,  and the dialogue in the demo is reinforcing my fears.

By "trainwreck" you mean a game that's generally considered a failure, right? As opposed to a game that Gatt9 doesn't like.

I'm a more of a realist with optimistic tendencies.

I've enjoyed both the story and combat of both ME1 and ME2, making me sure I will enjoy ME3.
Part of my optimism is from low standards and my lack of the mentality of how the devs somehow owe me and should make the game entirely to my standards. As long as the story is good and the gameplay is enjoyable, I am happy because I've seen first hand how rough game developers have it. Their job is rough and very taxing at times, which makes me appreciate what they made even more.

Anyone play Two Worlds? The game was a train-wreck, but my mentality and my focus on what the devs did do rather than what they didn't made me see that it had a lot of great ideas in the game but the game was entirely not even worth $10 to me.

Thanks : )

I'm very optimistic about ME3. Like Lucid said, as long as the story and gameplay is good I'm sold.

I was happy with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
I was happy with Jade Empire
I was happy with Dragon Age: Origins
I was happy with Dragon Age 2
I was happy with Mass Effect 1 & 2

So I'm sure I will not be disappointed ;-)

In terms of story, I've already seen the leaked excerpts, and some of what I've read sounds like something ripped off of fanfiction.net. If even half of that stuff makes it into the game, then I'd be rather pessimistic about the quality of the writing.

As for gameplay, I cannot really say. I'm not expecting it significantly differ from ME2; I just hope that A: the made the enemy halfway decent this time around, and B: the levels do not consist entirely of linear corridors.

Pessimist. After my wonderful ME2 squad, VS is dead to me. Cutting squad size for ' deeper relationships' doesn't mean anything if you don't bother with certain squadmates. I lost faith in the story ( except Prothy :) so hopefully the multiplayer is good enough for replay value. Guess I'll just wait for Witcher 2 for my console rpg kicks.

Pessimist, it's just the way the games being marketed (oh look explosions! Slow motion! Awh a kid died isn't this game just the pinnacle of emotion!). I know it's stupid to take too much heed from it but I can't help but feel that we are going to loose what was left of the exploration ect that ME2 was scarcely present in two. I've typically had full trust in bioware but after dragon age 2, well... Hopefully this just means that im going to blown away and proven wrong on launch though!

I'm pretty sure it will be an awesome game. However, I know that I will have... ahem... issues with an element or two. I'm guessing my final impression will be something like 70% fangasm/10% fanrage/20% yeah okay good enough.

Optimist. Everything I've seen and played is pointing to this being awesome. Granted, I've been in semi-blackout and have only played the NYCC demo and the demo with the early access code. And I've only seen a couple of the trailers. But I have the utmost faith in the Mass Effect team.
