So, is this like a one time thing?

Can we get some more? Because those sculpts are fantastic. At least Liara, and Wrex? And others deemed important enough at a later time? I'd love to see what kind of crazy detail they could pour into a Krogan.

The same company released the entire squadron from Halo:Reach, but they usually only release a few characters from each property. At this point no one knows.

It's not just the Reach guys, either. I think I recall some Mark V multiplayer Spartans?
Halo is Halo. Their fanbase is nuts. (And so am I. Yes, I like Halo.)
I just hope the Mass Effect fanbase is just as nuts, and enough interest is generated to get some more made. I'd buy the **** out of Wrex and Mordin.

I'm a Halo fan, too(not really the story, just the MP). I bought those Play Arts Reach figures. They're spectacular.
And I hope that before they release these they announce a second series. Mass Effect appeals more to Western audiences than Japanese audiences, and Western collectors want entire teams/squads/etc while Japanese collectors are more than happy to take one or two characters.

I read on another forum that these prototypes were in the 9-10" range, with Ashley appearing to be just shy of 9" and Garrus topping out around 10".

So apparently the price for these bad boys will be $55 USD, and they are in fact in the 9" scale.
Still no word on whether or not Shepard comes with a helmet or if future waves are planned.

I have the Halo Reach Emile Play arts Kai. Other than the difficulty of standing it up, I think Square Enix made a fine figure. I'll probably pick up Garrus but Shepard doesn't look proportional..

It seems just about every toy site has taken down the pre-order pages for these. That doesn't seem good.

I'd prayed for this, but never thought it was realistic. So excited. :)

I'm not even sure that's Shepard. I don't even think that looks human at all.

Yeah. A Google search for them showed them going for $69 on Big Bad Toy Store, but as someone mentioned the page for them is down. The google result still shows though.

I need that Garrus yesterday.

Unfortunately Big Bad Toy Store has jacked up the prices on Kai figures recently. I don't know why, but it is what it is.

Still no word on why so many e-tailers have teken down the listings for these.

My theory on this is that if you look at a photo of the display case you'll see that it says 'pending licensor approval' on it. My guess is that currently they have yet to have officially recieved the 'go ahead' by Bioware or whoever else is the licensor to go into mass production.
Most of those sites probably put up the pre-order thing then realized that exact same problem. They probably realized it wasn't a good idea to let people put up money for something that at present is still in the protoype stage and could be months away from being made or (unlikely) never get released at all.

That said I think it's ridiculously unlikely that Bioware wouldn't approve these figures. If they approved of the DC direct action figures that got stuck in development hell for several months, approved of Dark Horse making the models of the Normandy (the first lot of which were badly painted, admittedly the one I got for my birthday looks very nice), let Kotobukia have the license to turn Liara (and eventually all their female characters) into sexed up anime versions of themselves, licensed the creation of the inflatable omni-blade and allowed the publishing of a book riddled with continuity errors, I can't think of any logical reason why they would suddenly decide that now they won't give the license to Play Arts Kai.

Fact is, these figures are incredibly good quality. Hell I'd buy them as they are now in prototype stage for full price. They managed to get even the tiniest details right, the shine on Ashley's hair, the tiny scars on Garrus's face and the little details on Shepard's armor. They are amazing looking and they would sell really well. New fans and old fans would go nuts on them and given that they would also get sold in Japan they would hit an international market too. Each one would go for a big price as well. I can't think of a logical reason why a licensor wouldn't want all that scratch kicking around.

My guess is that the reason the sites haven't committed to anything yet is because the licensor hasn't yet either. Maybe Bioware is holding off for a while or Square Enix is adding some finished adjustments (like fixing Shepard's face). That said I have found at least one site that still has them on pre-order and says that they would ship on the third quarter of 2012 so I'll post that:
http://www.cmdstore....ies-ashley.html

So it's possible a date has been established but there hasn't been any official announcement. Which, if that's true would be odd. The other thing that makes me hopeful is that if there had been a cancellation,Square Enix would have mentioned it, surely. Likewise Bioware would have made a big deal if it had accepted it, so I'm guessing things are still on the fence somewhat. But like I said I can think of no logical reason why Bioware wouldn't license a whole bloody series of these.

Thing is, I really, really, really want these three figures. In ranking order of importance, Ashley, Garrus then Shepard. Because these are my favorites in Mass Effect 3 currently. Myself, my love interest and my alien sidekick. I want them like crazy to the point where I would forgo all other purchases for the rest of the year if it gave them to me. So I'm kind of anxious as well and would really like some kind of information from Bioware one way or the other and not so much suspense.
I will say that if I get these and my resolution for Mass Effect 3 the way I want it (or close enough) I will be set for life in regards to this franchise and never go wanting for anything else. That said if Bioware really DO decide not to give these approval and push them away (as again unlikely as that is) it would cement to me finally that Bioware really have no idea what they are doing business wise and that they really care not for their fans.
If these get made, then I will continue to love Bioware and may even forgive them for a lot. That's why I really am hoping for some kind of confirmation.

Anytime now guys...:innocent:

DAMN... the Kai figures are usually retail around 55 bucks a pop, more or less depending on where you pick them up. I want that Ashley figure if only because I havent' seen any plans for her in the Big Fish line up.

Big Fish line up?

Will get Garrus, not sure about Ashley, definately won't get Sheploo, would be interested in FemShep

Big Bad Toy Store had a Devil May Cry Dante listed for pre-order after an unfinished prototype was revealed and still had it up for pre-order for months after Neca said Capcom rejected it.
And you can't pay for pre-orders. They charge you when they ship.

Okay then, fair enough. All the same like I said I found one site that still has them on pre-order and has a sort-of vague date when they think they will ship. And again Bioware/EA have licenced all kinds of stuff before, I find it hard to believe they would draw the line here. Not with something this good.
All the same I would like them to give some kind of announcement about them.

That said I have decided that if Bioware/EA seriously don't license these, then that's it. It won't have been the worst thing Bioware/EA have ever done but it will be the final nail in the coffin for me. A clear sign that they care not for quality products for their brand or their own fanbase. If they do the right (and smart) thing and license these which I am at least 80% certain they will, then I will forgive them for a lot.
Largely because, again Shepard Ashley and Garrus in their own trio are all my birthdays come true at once.

Likewise. I badly want an Ashley figure. She's my favorite gal in the franchise and my consistent love interest. I'd like something to permenantly sit on my shelf to honor that fact that years later I can look back at it and smile remembering my fun I've had with Mass Effect.
For what it's worth though there is no doubt in my mind that at some point there will be a bishojou statue of Ashley, given that Kotobukia has been given the license for all the female characters in all of the Bioware games and they are known to never leave a stone unturned in their efforts to make pretty sexualized statues of every female character in a property.
But yeah while that's a 'plan b' of mine, let's just say I'd much rather have Ashley presented here. And Garrus. And Shepard for that matter.

I've bought a few Play Arts in my day.
They're not the best sculpts, but for the price they're not bad. They're better looking (IMO) than the Neca figures but not as nice as the Kotobukiya (Although Kotobukiya are static and typically cost more than the $40-$60 Play Arts charges).

I would love if Hot Toys or Slideshow Collectibles came out with something, but those figures range in the $100+

I'll jump on the Garrus and Ashley for sure. Shepard I gotta see. Also I'd rather cross my fingers for a Femshep down the line since I already have the DC Direct Male Shepard.

Is there exclusive DLC with it? If not, not sale.

/sarcasm

Also, what the hell is going on with the head size? Did somone not do basic human proportions in art class? I thought DE:HR had weird head sizes, but this takes the cake.

Frankly after reading the leaks for Mass Effect 3, these action figures by Play Arts Kai are kind of the only thing that I still really care about. I really badly want these figures, as a token of my time with this series and the happiness it brought me. That regardless of how Mass Effect 3 may end. I'll always have the little Shepard, Ashley and Garrus on my shelf to remind me of the good times.

Please Bioware, new info on these. Please.

I can pretty much guarantee you that we won't get a LOKI mech from Square-Enix. They NEVER delve that deep into franchises.

Can anyone at Bioware share any info on the status on these? Are they approved for production? Will Sheploo's head be made larger so he doesn't look like he sat next to the wrong guy in the waiting room for the afterlife?
