Did the start of the game (demo) feel really abrupt to anyone else here?

Yeah, anyone else find this? Felt really, really random. This the opening we're also gonna be getting in the actual game does anyone know?

There was supposed to be a trial/hearing....but apparently that got cut. Shame now Earth is pretty much an afterthought.

Bro, everybody is mad. Bioware should have never released that demo.

To me it does. The fact that the reapers blow up the council room the very moment you get summoned there...I dunno. It's not convincing.

It may only be part of the beginning. But, it doesn't feel as abrupt if you were to play ME2 and 3 back-to-back.

I didn't think it was abrupt because I realized Shepard has been on Earth for at least a month (AT LEAST!) and the trial has already happened etc.

It's obvious when you think about it :s

That's what happens when you remove spoilers from the demo
Glad they did that, myself.

Yeah, the ending of two and the start of 3 really don't fit together well.

Shepards on the Normandy at the end of 2, then all of a sudden he's in some tiny grey room in some random building at the start of 3. Felt reeeally strange

I'm hoping there was something before the start which fades to the kid with the toy cruiser. I hoping Shepard was in the window thinking back on something. But as it stands, it felt really abrupt.

I'm also hoping I get my day in court with my dress blues on like Hackett said.

Well, if this is the case, better still.

It bolws. As will many other parts of the game. I'm not sure it will reach DA2 level of failure, but right now it looks like a neck and neck race for ****ty intros.

Not really, I like how it throws you into it. A comic is supposed to detail how Vega meets Shep IIRC.

They're probably gonna have a intro cutscene in the full game like the the other mass effects...hopefully. Also everyone seemed somewhat calm about the reapers invading too.

Hope the trial is in the final game. May have had to cut it in the demo to reduce space. You saw how close it was to the limit.

I'm hoping that they did cut stuff from the demo. But yeah, it all happened kinda fast

Who knows, maybe in the final game it will be more elaborate and what not.
Past Mass Effect openings were also rushed but you had the sense of urgency present (Collector Ship attack, and THEN it's like MOVEMOVEMOVE). With Earth, before the Reapers even show up, everyone is hurrying up, Shepard is there randomly, they don't recall how he got there unless the player played Arrival and can connect the dots, he acts quite buddy-buddy with James even though you don't ever see him actually speaking to him in Conviction, yadda-yadda. Seems a bit unpolished to me.

In other words, yes, I agree it is quite messy/more confusing and rushed than previous entries. Some of the dialog, especially from the Admiralty Board/Defense Committee or whatever, is just... cringe-worthy lol. BUT, that's just my opinion.

I will officially judge once the game is actually out, and give BioWare the benefit of the doubt. The demo has to be small in size so there is a very big chance they cut plenty of cool stuff out. They definitely removed a chunk of Sur'kesh. Dunno about Earth, though.

This is about an accurate representation, actually.

And no, you're not the only one. Far from it, in fact. But I doubt the demo is the beginning of ME3.

Yessss

I liked in ME2 how they had the Miranda/IM bit before the collector ship attack, it set everything up much better and carried the tone of the game.

You're not the only one. I hope the actual intro has the trial, because the demo felt way too fast. They did cut quite a bit of stuff from the Sur'Kesh level, so I hope the Earth level had some stuff cut too.

That's a terrible way of going about it. Comics shouldn't be required reading.

Even the events in the demo were way too fast. They lost contact with the moon, and literally a minute later the Reapers have made their way to Earth overwhelmed the defenses in the atmosphere and fallen upon the city.

You know if just one dev would clarify these issues everyone on this board would be completely content. I think they like watching us squirm.
