Did the start of the game (demo) feel really abrupt to anyone else here?

I agree it felt a little too rushed, something tells me there's more to the intro, more of a build up, at least I hope so. It would be much appreciated if a dev shed some light on this.

Not really, I like how it throws you into it. A comic is supposed to detail how Vega meets Shep IIRC.

That's a terrible way of going about it. Comics shouldn't be required reading.

I agree. But do you actually want the intro to explain how Shep meets Vega, show the entire trial AND the stuff that's already in there? That would be one long intro. And the reason Shepard is at the trial really shouldn't confuse anyone. If you've played Arrival you already know, and if you haven't, you'll just have to assume it's because of Shep's work with Cerberus.

There's already over 8 minutes of cut scenes before you actually get to control Shepard. That is waaaaay longer than most games.

Well to me it's like starting ME2 after you break out of the Ceberus facility. But instead Bioware just tell us through a few lines of dialogue that Miranda and Jacob are aquainted to Shepard

So you actually want to see Shep get arrested and meet Vega, sit through an entire trial, talk to Anderson while walking up to the hearing in the demo, go through the hearing and then have the Reapers attack? Again, that would be one LONG intro.

Not the whole thing, but you could have Vega come collect Shepard on the Normandy perhaps Shepard could say a few goodbye to a few of the crew

Then he can go straight to the hearing, last about 5 minutes. See the outcome etc

Then you could have a "1 month later screen" and then start from where the demo intro picks up. I don't think that would take very long, and extra 7 or so minutes perhaps

Yes I would.

Agreed, while I think I'm going to like the vega character, the fact that he's suddenly well known to Shepard from the start is jarring.

Well known? He just says his name. It's not like they're talking about each others' past right from the start.

Yea I would bet good money that the demo level is not whats going to be in the final game. All throughout the development Casey and others have been saying there will be a catch up/recap for players since they haven't played ME2 or 1 for awhile. That little paragraph that traditionally appears can't be the answer to that.

This is about an accurate representation, actually.

And no, you're not the only one. Far from it, in fact. But I doubt the demo is the beginning of ME3.

I doubted the beginning of the demo would be the exact beginning of DA2... Posted Image

It does feel a bit rushed, but a lot got cut from the demo to avoid spoilers plus the demo can only be so big. Hopefully there is more to it in the full game.

this is pathetic I only brought up the thing with Vega and this is your reaction?  I never complained about anything you're the one that was ****ing but fine whatever you're a waist of keystrokes and probably a ****ty person at that too so whatever:innocent:

Talks the guy who started with the insults...

yeah because cry me a river isn't an insult I can't stand it when people feel the need to insert themselves in conversations they have no part of that includes you.  SO GOODBYE!!!;)

So, you are telling me that you are a saint and a victim here?
Funny, considering what you said before the pic:

"I would've already suggested we just cancel the damn game I have never had the misfortune to be part of a whinier community."
"I don't give a crap about the rest of your post"

If you disrespect someone with your opinion, you should expect an answer of that kind.

Who knows, maybe in the final game it will be more elaborate and what not.
Past Mass Effect openings were also rushed but you had the sense of urgency present (Collector Ship attack, and THEN it's like MOVEMOVEMOVE). With Earth, before the Reapers even show up, everyone is hurrying up, Shepard is there randomly, they don't recall how he got there unless the player played Arrival and can connect the dots, he acts quite buddy-buddy with James even though you don't ever see him actually speaking to him in Conviction, yadda-yadda. Seems a bit unpolished to me.

In other words, yes, I agree it is quite messy/more confusing and rushed than previous entries. Some of the dialog, especially from the Admiralty Board/Defense Committee or whatever, is just... cringe-worthy lol. BUT, that's just my opinion.

I will officially judge once the game is actually out, and give BioWare the benefit of the doubt. The demo has to be small in size so there is a very big chance they cut plenty of cool stuff out. They definitely removed a chunk of Sur'kesh. Dunno about Earth, though.

So Shepard telling James he's not a commander anymore and asking him what's going on is acting "budy buddy"?  And yes clearly the demo which features heavy cuts that we've seen from Sur'kesh is a final indication of the actualy pacing of the game, if I were working at Bioware I would've already suggested we just cancel the damn game I have never had the misfortune to be part of a whinier community.

Someone didn't bother to read my post thoroughly.
Nice try, though.

I don't give a crap about the rest of your post I only brought up your statement about acting "budy buddy" with James when the fact of the matter is you don't, your retort is literally worthless.

Maybe, if you had uh, oh I don't know, hit your keyboard's ''enter'' after the James thing, I wouldn't have assumed your entire post was directed at me. I do believe your reaction was actually a bit over the top to begin with.

Don't get all hot and bothered though, partner. Over a BSN post? Nah, not worth it, friend. Not worth it. There's worse sh*t out there. Bigger problems. If assuming I am a ''shi**y person'' makes you feel any better, go ahead. Not gonna burst your little bubble.

I said ''kind of/quite/a little buddy-buddy'' because I did not feel to use another expression. You don't feel like it was a similar encounter? That's your opinion, which if you have bothered to read my post entirely, would maaaaybe realize I stated that is MY pinion.

Now, let's both stop derailing the topic, yes? Okay.

egh no you're the one that started derailing it with your immature little picture we could've just gone on with the whole Vega thing but you evidently felt the need to act clever.  As for hitting enter I geniuinley see no way you couldn've thought the rest of that was directed at you there was nothing to direct at anyone.
As for acting "buddy buddy" again all Shepard said to Vega was "you're not supposed to call me commander" and "what's going on?"  Could you get the impression they know each other?  Yes, I genuinley see no way those 2 lines indicate they're "buddy buddy" that's not how I am with my friends.

the canceled game thing wasn't directed at him directly
if you get offended that I don't give a crap about your post that's problematic
Now this is directed at you GET OVER IT, I'm not talking to you never did the guy can obviously speak for himself don't get all high and mighty when I'm trying to have a discussion w/ some other guy, like I said before I can't stand people like you who just feel the need to insert themselves in conversations they're not part of.

But anyway, like I said, I'm going to wait until the game is released. A word from the devs though would be truly appreciated.

You know if just one dev would clarify these issues everyone on this board would be completely content. I think they like watching us squirm.

They're not commenting because this is the full intro. That's my hunch and I'm sticking to it until further notice.

Well, there is the matter that leaving someone in the hopeful dark is a better sales angle than confirming their fears. It's possible that the devs don't want to comment in the face of such relentless worrying because there's the potential for lost sales.

Myself, I'm fairly convinced this is all final because a.) the leaked beta had much more on Sur'kesh but Earth was largely the same; b.) there's a very distinctly finalized cinematic feel to the opening moments of the intro; c.) contrary to popular belief on these forums, introductory sequences in video game demos rarely diverge much from the final product.

And Dialogue options! I hope Dialogue options were cut from the demo as well! If that is how the begining of the game is with 2 Dialgue trees before the first gameplay part when the should of been a lot more.  (Auto Dialuge *eyetwitch*) It is a let down IMHO. But this means hopefully the Trees and the Trail were cut for size limitaions.

Does anyone remember how the Mass Effect 2 demo was in comparison to the final game? I don't I doubt I ever bother downloading it. It might be a good barring to to judge.

If there's no trial at the beginning, or just a lil' bit. I'm cool with that. I want to get into the galaxy saving and we already know the Reapers are coming.
