Did the start of the game (demo) feel really abrupt to anyone else here?

All you have there is proof that what happens in the demo happens in the game it does not mean it contains everything from the game even for that part of it. If cut parts or reduced the demo play through from x to y instead of w to z his statement is still true on both counts.

I think (and hope) a lot of the dialogue was cut out purely for the demo. The whole trial scene could've served as a good recap on the last two game's events, with the jury listing off all the things you did/personal background, etc.

People are clinging to straws now. It's over guys, Priestly has confirmed that the beginning of ME3 is going to be the same rushed, confusing and poorly paced intro as the demo.

It's time to try wrap our heads around it, and hope the rest of the game isn't as bad.

Not really. He said it's the beginning of the game, but not the exact same beginning. So bleh!
