I'm interested in having Shale in my party, but it occurs to me that the ambiguity of what a Golem is in the world of DA:O means that I have no idea what role he would fill. More specifically, I am wondering whether a Mages + Rogue + Golem arrangement would work the way I'd imagine (with the Golem supplanting a Warrior).
Since the exact details of Shale's abilities might be spoilerific, I actually just want to know if this information is available anywhere right now (e.g., that leaked Prima guide), and would appreciate if someone could point me to the specific place. I'm not too keen on browsing through heaps of spoilers just to find out this one thing, and a forum search for "Shale" was not especially fruitful.
I would also welcome a PM with the relevant information, again to avoid the problem of spoilers.Thanks.
What characterizes the "Golem" class?

The only thing I've learned is that he besides Rabbit is the character most suited for "tanking". I'm guessing high resistance and hitpoints with decent damage. As for abilities I have no idea. He is probably customizable depending on which crystals he uses, as rabbit with paint.

Rabbit is apparently pretty beast (no pun intended)... but I'm gonna save him for later playthroughs (maybe with my Dalish elf, just to rub it into the human's faces that one of their dogs bonded to me).
Now I just have to decide between Alistair and Shale and Sten for my tanks... I'm gonna have Morrigan as my buffer/shapeshifter/spirit healer, and my mage is gonna be nuke/blood mage/arcane warrior, and I'm gonna have Leliana for my stealth/lockpicking/backstabber... But who should I have tank? If Shale is indeed more resilient, then I'm definitely gonna end up like that one mage from that one DA book (spoilers intentionally avoided), and have him follow me around, taking all of my hits for me (until I'm an uber arcane warrior capable of temporarily turning myself into a magic-fueled death-ninja with blood slaves).

Wow.
I'm sorry, guys... I think my internet flipped out. Big time.
(And yes, I have been double billed several times; thankfully it's only been $2.00 purchases on Rhapsody, but still... maybe I should have that looked at?)

Hes a warrior with warrior talents but since he does not use weapons he will not use weapon talents. He will be like a ogre/warrior mix with specific golem abilities
i would say the dog is like a warrior/champion mix with dog specific abilities
