I'm still a little annoyed by the idea that almost none of the ME2 squadmates are returning as squadmates in ME3, but let us hear it! Which ME2 squadmates (not counting those who returned from ME1) should have been squadmates in ME3?

My picks:

1. Mordin. He holds the key to diffusing tensions between the krogan and the rest of the galaxy, principally, by offering his expertise to end the genophage. Also, we need a mad scientist type on the Normandy.

2. Miranda. She might be important in terms of resolving the conflict between Shepard and Cerberus.

3. Legion. Like Mordin, he and Tali are important to ensuring that the geth and the quarians do not start shooting at one another, just as the Reapers invade. Also, he's cool.

Mordin, Miranda, and Legion are all good choices.

Apart from Legion and Thane. None really.

Mordin got his moral thing about trying to fix the genophage.
Zaeed and Kasumi were in for the money. (In a suicide mission, as well)
Grunt got a phone call from his clan
Samara and Jack gone like they said.
Jacob............ well we all know why he didn't get chosen.

Miranda is logical but I doubt Bioware would ever have Ash and Miranda in the same game as squadmates considering they're both play the dominate female LI. Plus Miranda has to keep a watch on her sister.

Miranda and Jacob.
Maybe Zaeed, but we have enough soldiers already.

I was sure of Miranda.
She is almost impossible to kill on the Suicide Mission (unless you do it intentionally), so I thought she is going to be a squadmate. And she should have been. Romance or no, she was kind of a female lead for ME2, and it would have provided an interesting atmosphere to have a former Cerberus officer aboard an again-Alliance warship.

Personally, I'd pick Mordin too. He is not only a great character (one of the most developed in ME2), but also a problem solver. And we have a pretty big problem...

Agree completely with your first point. Would have created an interesting dynamic on the Normandy and provided a support base for less alliance friendly Shephards.

Legion. He has so much potential and didn't get to do much in ME2.

1. Jack - I know she got annoying, but she actually had some interesting story come out especially if you romanced her. I definitely wanted to explore it more.

2. Samara - Another underdeveloped character. There was a very interesting dynamic with her, in fact you could ALMOST sleep with her but she would decline. Again, already know the character, lots more story to be told.

Bottom line, I'm really annoyed they are doing so many new squadmates. I may be wrong but I swear they said there were NOT going to be new characters at ME 3 since it would simply be carry over. I guess they wanted to make sure to include sexy fembots and brainless soldiers rather than continue with the characters they already had.

Thane Krios. I'm /pissed/ that he will not be a returning squad mate. He was a LI for gods sake.

I don't know :/ this is just not cool if you ask me.
Liara,Jack,Grunt,Garrus,Tali,Mordin,Jacob,Miranda,Thane,Legion should be returning as permanent members.
Samara,Morinth could be returning depending on the choices you made in ME2.
Kasumi, why the hell not ?
Zaeed probably has the smallest chance.

Instead we get AI (EDI),a wanna-be soldier (Vega),Prothean (lolwut) and the romance options from ME1. Well i don't like this, sorry.

Honestly, they could have fixed this very easy, 1 slot goes to your romance slot for ME 2 or one of the new characters. That way new people could just have the new character since they wouldn't know the difference, and people that took the time to play through ME 2 would get to keep at the least their LI.

Without the slightest doubt - Legion. As a Geth, he knows more about the Reapers than anyone else. That alone makes him an irreplaceable asset in a war against the Reapers. Then of course is the fact that he was a fantastic character, well liked and popular. Another thing is that he was severly underused in ME2, it wasn't possible to recruit him until the end of the game. At the top of that, he's the one character that could've been easily railroaded as being 'alive for everyone', since he's an AI.

Mainly just Legion. I was always in the camp that argued that there was no logical way any of the ME2 squads could be playable unless Bioware went the DA2 Retcon route. Tali and Garrus got freebies because of the Popularity Bias.

But yeah, Legion would offer arguably the best story possibilities with both the Geth/Quarian Conflict, and the fight with the Reapers.

But I suppose we don't need Legion when we can have a Sexbot.
