As I understand it, many of the cross platform releases use aroundish 720p textures, then the engine just upscales everything (assuming you are running a higher resolution TV/Monitor) to match the used resolution.  I'm not sure of all the reasoning behind this.  Perhaps it is for space issues, performance, or a combination of both.  However many studio's art deptmarptments actually create the textures in high resolution originally then are downscaled later for release.

A frequent (and pretty cool) trend has been the release of HD texture packs post release-expecially for PC versions for video games.  More rarely a HD texture pack option is included for optional hard drive installs on consoles, and this would be awesome as well (if doable).  The desire to have realitively homogeneous releases for all platforms for release is understood (probably not univerilly agreed with, but the reasoning behind it makes some sense)-but for PC players like myself, or console players with the fancy 1080p big screens the HD texture pack treatment would be a welcome, or I should say awesome treat for both fans of the series and videophiles alike.

Or-I could be wrong and ME3 is coming out of the gate with all the pretty high rez textures.  In wich case just call me a fool and ignore the request :)

-Thanks

It likely will be only 720p, maybe 1080p if we're lucky. Due to the fact that consoles do not evolve until the next gen hits, PC gets the short end of the stick in the graphics/textures department. Of course, it is not outside the realm of possibility PC gamers will get it but I would doubt it.

Some blame console gamers; I'm PC and Console, I blame the people on PC that pirate the games and screw it up for the honest gamers.

I am both PC/Console as well (what I prefer to game on is game/genre dependent). I don't know if I agree with blaming pirates though-at least not for the texture thing. If they exist, it would probably take more effort to actually post the things and host the FTP servers and create the installer then actually putting the pack together.

After all-the content is already made (usually). I don't see how withholding it or not would either promote or discourage piracy of the PC version in any fashion. Hell, if it was done well enough, I'd probably be willing to shell out a $2.99 or something for it. (Though the fury of actually selling something like that would probably do as much harm as good, just sayin I'd buy it).
