I was replaying ME1 and was thinking... Shepard pretty much never says a single thing without your direction... ME2 is pretty much the same way.

Hopefully it's only like that in ME3 for the beginning levels so they can set up the story.

You don't get it, do you?

<_<

See little pieces like that is fine. I expect a little auto dialogue but the demo had a lot of auto dialogue. Hence why everyone is concerned that the entire game is going to be this way.

As someone who has read the script, I got the impression that the answers don't vary much and you get an awful lot of one-liners and scripted dialogue; MUCH more than in ME 1&2.

If thats true then that is a deal breaker for me. I don't see why they would change the way the dialgue system works at all. It was done very well in both ME1 and 2.

Its called evolution of the system and I like it you ME 1 fans need to deal with the changes

How is less option evolution? Mass Effect 2 did the dialogue perfeclty, Hell I will even say it is the best part of the game. This isn't evolution, this is 100 steps backwards.

Except that's not how it works out Pyro. Action mode is no dialogue choices. Story and rpg mode are occasional sentence choices every 15 minutes of automatic dialogue. It's not the same.

@Noble Pyro - when was that written? Because not long ago Mac Walters said the trial part was removed and now happens before the game starts.

That post from Chris Priestly was 12 hours ago...

Well he must be referring to the defense hearing not the trial, because Walters stated in a tweet that it was removed and takes place before the game.

@Pyro - you distorted his quote. I just read it, and it fits perfectly with what Walters said, the trial is before the game.

@Wright - well manually choosing a sentence after 15 minutes of dialogue constitutes "full decisions" apparently.

nothing - RPG mode and story mode seem to be misleading bordering on outright lying based on the description

First step action mode, second step auto dialogue, third step no dialogue choices and just turn into linear shooter.

BioWare was simple trying to cater to all types of game play. The feedback from gamers on the previous ME games are now choices indicated in ME3 in hopes to appease those different playing styles.

Some people liked less dialogue choices, they gave them the option of Action Mode.

Some people liked more dialogue choices less combat, they gave them the option of Story Mode.

Some people want to keep the how the game was played in the first 2 games, they gave them the option of RPG Mode.

Action Mode-Not a fan but it is fine. Bioware wants to make more cash  appeal to other gamers.

Story Mode and RPG mode: They F*^K'D us. Auto Dialogue with the occasinal Wheel? That isn't how Mass Effect should be. Choices Choices Choices. Not Auto Auto Auto.

If we wanted auto we would play Action mode, not RPG mode.

@Pyro - you said priestly said the trial was in game. He didn't. He said the trial is before the game, and the end of the trial is in the game, the defense hearing from the demo. This coincides with Mac Walters saying that the trial was no longer in game, and that it takes place before ME3.

Regardless, you think that if there was a trial there wouldn't be more auto dialogue? Come on.

I private messages priestly, even tweeted him and all of the writers/developers. Nothing at all. They're avoiding answering which tells me the game must continue to heavily use the auto dialogue. Try your luck at tweeting them.

Yes there is. It's how you start the game.

This is from a BioWare employee indicating content was removed from said DEMO. By saying yes there is a trial that starts the game. The DEMO clearly did not show this.

This is what I said...

A better way to do dialogue? You mean by removing choice like, oh say, 90% of games on the market? Could you elaborate how this is a better way?

I'd tentatively agree that what is wrong with the games industry is bending over to 'fans' .  But not long running fans of a particular series, more like forgetting about these people and chasing the money of the mass market. lowest-common-denominator gamers.

But this isn't better, Auto Dialogue is a horrable idea for a game that has had Dialogue choices since the first one. Dialogue has been my favorite thing about the game and I'm sure others feel the same. I don't understand how you think giving us Less options is evolution. Just beacuse it is diffrent dosen't mean it is evoultion.

And I agree on the inivation. I hate COD, it gets more sales than Mass Effect will ever get while it is the same crap year after year.

But there is a diffrence about not changing at all and keeping to the games roots. Mass Effects roots? Choices. From what I could tell Mass Effect kepts its roots whith Dialogue and Story from its transition to Mass Effect 2, While also immproving Combat. Mass Effect 2 to 3 seems to pull the games roots from under the rug and foucus more on combat, than the story and the choices.

Even though I agree you did not spam, no need to rage dude.

Edit- Oh and people, stop using COD as an excuse. What do they have in common? They both have guns. That's it. Halo also has guns. GOW also has guns. Battlefield also has guns. GTA has guns. If you're going to call it COD clone then you really have no idea what type of COD is.

Bioware is no even trying to pretend there is choice/dialogue in their next game at least...They ahd to mislead on this one though
