I really can't stand to listen to anything liara has to say. She is the very definition of dull and boring. I also find her creepy obsession with shepard disturbing.
She does sound a bit too ethereal.
I think her obsession is endearingly awkward.

Funny. I enjoy a good challenging relationship
If you want to go down the easy-going-'cause-your-girl-is-entirely-devoted-to-you relationship, pick Liara. Don't be surprised if that doesn't reflect a R/L-relationship (for those who're too young for any experience). Others may simply enjoy Liara's romance 'cause it's easier than the real stuff - in short: what man does not dream of a girl that's so devoted? ^^

I'll pick realism over idealism in that case. Ashley over Liara romance wise

One minute she's a shy dorky scientist. Another she's a cold brutal agent. Then the next she's a wise-cracking Shadow Broker.
She's like a box of chocolates. You'll never know what [personality] you're gonna get.

I love how you put down anyone who prefers the Liara-relationship as an internet virgin-nerd or just wish fulfilment (although all the relationships are wish fulfilment in one way or another). <_<
Liara's "devotion" extends to her bringing your body to Cerberus (which she does even for non-LI Sheps). Other than that she shows no particular inclination to be easy to romance. She even makes you wait till her Shadow Broker issues are dealt with before she'll pick things back up.
I don't particularly mind the Ash romance (in fact I have more Shep playthroughs that have romanced Ash in ME1 than Liara) but to call one more realistic than the other is rather ludicrous imo.

Um, when precisely did devotion become unrealistic? Especially considering they both went off on private ventures unrelated to Shepard's tasks... just that Ashely called her a traitor and didn't let her help.CptData wrote...

Let me put it this way - without flaming or something -
What guy doesn't dream of a fully devoted girl that virtually never ages and is absolutely loyal & beautiful?
That's Liara.
I can't see any negative statement here.
I can, however, say that's a purely idealistic view on a relationship.
And that's why I don't enjoy it.
Can see why others do, however.
Whatever, I'm out. Threads like this usually lead to some sort of flame war. And if it's Liara vs Ashley, Liara wins. Because of obvious reasons (I won't name them). Rest is taste - and taste is stuff one shouldn't argue about.

There's nothing wrong with preferring one LI over the other. However I contend that you continue to assert that Liara is fully devoted without offering a single shred of evidence. What does it mean to be "fully devoted" and how is Liara so? Which exact parts of her romance are unrealistic?

Same with calling one easier than any other. They're all just options on a dialog wheel. Blatantly obvious, "Let's f*ck now," options.
