Vega turned out much better than I thought he was going to. Wish we had more time to get to know/develop him.

I think their intent was to develop him elsewhere, but not giving him a proper introduction was a huge mistake. It turned a lot of people off with the assumption that Shepard had a friendship with him over six motnhs. The time they had spent together wasn't elaborated on either, though it would have taken only a few lines of dialogue to make it clear.

It made him seem like an afterthought, which he definitely wasn't if you look at the dev interviews.

Because "He took the spot of [name of favorite ME2 LI here]!!!" I hate that reason. It's so lame. He's a great character who gets flack because character X isn't in the squad. Haters just like taking their frustrations out on him.

I can't see how he took anyboday's place at all. Even if Bioware said that he did, which I don't think is true, well, they've said one thing and done another before. Their reasoning is not known to us mere mortals. Blaming it on the new guy is childish bullying.

Although I agree that there was no proper introduction for him. He's just there. It took a few missions before I warmed up to him. Looks aside, of course.

I also don't remember who said ME3 could have only 8 squad members. ME2 had like what, 10+? If anyone is to blame for that, it's Bioware.

Well you never know DLC can change that number anytime.

My husband has a theory that they released Leviathan and other DLC in the way that they did, to set it up to release a new alternate ending. I think it's a great idea if it's true. Why not give people an option for canon? It would be in keeping with the free will backbone of the previous releases.

Here's hoping there's way more Vega in all future DLC.... ^_^

That's where the rumored Project X DLC comes in read more here but other then that yeah Vega does have a background Bioware could have shoved in a little more for Vega. If you read the Mass Effect Homeworlds comic you learn more about him, his father, mother, and uncle.

Not much in the way of character development in his issue of Homeworlds. I mean, he dresses up as a cook to get away from the police. Is this an episode of the Pink Panther or Mass Effect? It was just hokey and shallow. I'm using it as inspiration for certain events in my story, but not part of my headcanon.

Even though it was quite small, I love what they did with James in Levianth DLC.

Be nice, I guess, but I don’t see how this can work with Leviathan directly supporting the current ending?

Edit: or, you know, it was intended to anyway. Not that they actually thought it all the way through.

I can see that.

I think they either should not ahve intro'd ANY new characters in ME3 or done a LOT more with their dev.

Characters like Vega and Cortez REALLY suffer for it.

Actually, I think Cortez is better fleshed out than Vega... figure THAT one out.

^Yeah.

There's a need for Extended Cut for Intro of ME3.

Quite literary feels like 45 minutes are missing from intro.

They gave him an emotional story, and a pretty complete one sicne you get to talk to him about his husband lost on Fehl. Vega isn't connected to anyone in particular, aside from his uncle and dad who are only mentioned as possibly missing on Earth.

Too vague and undefinied. He deserved better.

James had tons of dogs when he was little- everything ranging from Boxers to Yorkies to Labs to Greyhounds. He’s never really had a hairy dog though, so as a challenge, he picks up a tiny little Bernese Mountain Dog, the biggest guy in the litter, and the one who seems the most wobbly on his feet. James raises him well; for the most part, he doesn’t pull, sometimes he won’t jump, and he knows every command from ‘sit’ to ‘NO, down boy, ha, come on, geddown! pfffff, alright, gimme a kiss COME’ERE YOU BIG BABY!’ His little bud Maximus, (not so little anymore) will sit with James while he does push-ups and jump at him when he does his pull-ups. He gets more exercise laughing than he does doing crunches.

Well my point was that if BW wanted to add more ME2 squadmates, there was nothing stopping them from doing so. James had nothing to do with it.

I agree with the DLC comments though. Javik, Kasumi, and Zaeed all got added in DLC.

Agreed. Very hot. Just one question:

Why does this man have tin foil covering his hands?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe those are heat-protective gloves, like for baking? You know, because he's hot and all.

Also, men who bake are hot. Just sayin'.

No. Not enough vein pop, no acne, plus other symptoms. That guy is just buff the old fashioned way. Delightfully so.

Highly doubtful.

Anyway Vega is great, flashed before my Femsheps eyes and was also the one that she spoke to when the Normandy picked them up.
