 Ugh - I am really, really hoping this isn't true. 
When they released James, I remember thinking - "nope, not my type" and forgetting all about it. As I began to learn more about his character and watched his appearances in various trailers I found myself preparing my femShep to abandon Kaidan.  Mr. Vega had handily won out. 
While I guess I can't say I'd be 'surprised' by this turn of events... I would be sorely disappointed if he isn't an option for both Sheps.
Here's to hoping!!!

This is exactly what happened with me. I don't see how bioware could include him and not make him a LI for at least Femshep. Especially since he would be her only new option.

It is possible that Vega's romance is part of a separate script. He is heavily promoted for this game, after all, and I'm sure EA and Bioware are continually going over his character to tweak it so he's "just right." I'm not saying they'll be successful, but I do think part of their strategy includes continually rewriting him up until the last minute.

Here's hoping for an epic friendship and/or romance with either Shepard.

Same here.
I figured my main Shep would stay single out of lack of interest in any of the available romance options until I started reading up more about Vega and really liking what I found out about the character.
Gah, this possible news is a pretty big disappointment.

This tweet makes me think he is a LI. Don't the writers work on the romances last? Maybe they didn't have Vega's fleshed out in the leak's version.

Hear hear! Zaeed is by far one of my favorite characters in ME. And also, I still haven't fully gotten over Canderous from Knights of the Old Republic.  One of these days, I swear....One of these days Bioware will give us a badass, grizzled, amazing merc as an LI, I just know it!

I really can't believe that Bioware would do something like lead the fans on with Vega's character, only to pull the rug from under us and say that he is not an LI.

 I know that I sound a little silly in my optimism, but this is Bioware that we are talking about! They may not be perfect, but they are one of only video corporations that actually pride themselves on caring about the fan's opinons.

And say what you will, but I just don't think that all the tweets, the hints in the script and the nods by the devs are simply coincidence. There are just to many signs. 

My guess?  The script is, as many have assumed previously, just a draft and is missing various other lines of dialogue and plot points.  

I know that this seems difficult to take, but please, everybody, give those brilliant girls and guys at Bioware the benefit of the doubt on this one.  I think they deserve it, as they haven't let me down in the Mass Effect series yet, and I don't think they will for the finale.  They aren't blind to what the fans want, they know preciesely what they are doing.

I know, I know.  But let's just Sherlock this one:  look at all the evidence: most notably all the little hints by the devs. And also, his character design, ect. ect.  

Too many coincidences!! And we should all know that "there are no coincidences, only the illusion of coincidence." 

 Something is amiss.

'A' Build? Was this a build before ME3 went gold?  How did he get his hands on this? Is he a critic or a tester?
And most importantly, does he have any fapps pictures or anything like that to prove that he actually does have the game, or do we only have to rely upon his word? 

I'm only saying this because I can't believe that this is the only leak in terms of the 'real game' yet.  I know this may sound douchey because I'm saying that I can't believe someone on the internet by their word even though he's a 'reliable source'  but I don't buy it.  There's just too much conflicting information in terms of leaks. So that guy can kindly take his build and play it.
 I'll keep my occam's razor and my sense over here.

Well, one of my Sheps is going to romance Kaidan, the second - Steve. And the third that was hoping for Vega will make the whole Galaxy pay for Vega turning him down  :devil:

Ok guys I have a friend whose brother's uncle's cousin knows a guy who once rode an airplane with a guy that works at Bioware and he said James IS romanceable.

...obviously this person has some things to backup his claims we're not that stupid. <_< *like pictures of certain characters in development when we didn't know what they looked like (like a really weird picture of Allers with her arm going through her chest and FemShep in the CC a day before the trailer hit (femShep trailer) and a certain spoiler squaddie's name before the demo was released and we learned it from the files).

It's not like we are insulting your intelligence.  But still, even with that evidence, the concept art, pre-released FemShep, and secretsquaddie's name, I still do not think that we should blindly follow what this guy is saying, About 95% of what he says is stuff that we have to take his word on with 5% of little tidbits of evidence to hook in the belief factor.  I really don't think that it is wise to be so invested in his word at this time.

But, if you don't believe me, just start texting the devs on twitter, ask them out front whats going on with Vega, They may resist, but once they see the leak with Vega and the reactions that it has caused, (anger, frustration, ect), who knows, they may settle this thing once and for all and just announce that Vega is romanceble. <3

Anyway re your edit: I suppose yeah we can tweet the devs but I doubt they're going to respond to any spoilers. And sure he could be trolling but A. At the time he didn't know he was talking to BSNers and B. It was too offhand to really be trolling.

To be fair, we don't know how finished the build this guy played is. Considering he has a screenshot of a horribly glitched Allers, it's a bit safe to say that he's probably not playing the final build of the game.

I feel with you - not only because I really liked James in the demo and was planning to romance him in ME3 with a femshep but additionaly because my hope for a Joker romance was crushed too. It seems that Bioware is doing that frequently....

But as it was already mentioned - that does not leave many male romance options for a non imported femshep. And here I think I understand why Bioware told us ME3 would be a great game to start: you can see how it all plays out so you can play ME1 and ME2 again and to plan your romance options accordingly so that your Shepard has not to stay single in ME3.

 It makes more sense that he is for the Female Shepard. The femShep's look was introduced to everyone (I dig it), and so she needs another romance option- as Male Shepard has quite a few lol. I'm sure you'll probably be able to romance James as Male, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if you can't. He's definitely not gay or bi, unless of course you decide that as the player. I also don't know why people are complaining about his look, he looks like a lot of soldier's I've seen.  Kinda ugly he is yes, but many of the characters on the game are; and could have been a bit better looking- and I don't mean Final Fantasy better looking. I don't expect hardcore soldiers, to be looking like androgynous J-POP/J-Rock idols/bubble gum girls  lol. Just speaking as a character designer myself, they could have been better looking.

On the funnier side of things.. I think it would be absolutely hilarious, if maleShep; or James is getting "boned" by one another. Guys who exhibit their type of character (especially military, or fighters "MMA")... If they are homosexual, they tend to model whatever romantic feelings/relationship; after the way soldiers/warriors/fighters did in acient times. There was no boning each other (its also a huge turn-off to those kinds of guys, who by the way also have no problem with their sexuality), for some pretty understandable reasons (gonna keep it PG lmao). There was something else they got into. if and when things became... Intimate lol.

 For me I can see them not making him a LI; there wasn't much in the way of romance dialogue in the leaked script so everyone just assumed his romance parts were missing, but maybe they just ran out of time and decided to scrap what was done already since they couldn't finish. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they did the others first and left his for last, just so that if it came down to the wire, the characters who'd been in the last games were the ones who ended up with romance scenes. It sucks cause I was really excited, especially seeing some of his dialogue and really liking what I saw
