This is it. With the MP servers up, it would be interesting to see people's opinion on MP and how BioWare managed to handle it. So I figured it was time to start one official thread for impressions and discussions on it, with the assumption that anyone who posts in this thread have played MP.

A couple of things to note:
  • Depending on the platform on which you play, it may take a while before MP is up and ready for you to download. Typically, Xbox 360 users are the first to download and play, as Microsoft tends to submit very early on the day of release. However, the difference is usually no longer than five to eight hours (tops).
  • Post things about MP, not about the Singleplayer demo. There's already a thread about it, which can be found here.
A statement from Jarrett Lee if you're confused why you aren't getting it to work:

Hey guys, it's definitely confusing in this transition from preview demo to full demo:

1) so far the only publicly announced way to play MP early is to have BF3 online pass
2) the only publicly accessible demo right now is the 360 early access one. If you have item (1), you can play MP on Xbox right now but may have trouble finding other players
3) the publicly accessible demo goes live at various times after midnight PST tonight (ie not likely earlier than that). Once you download the demo on your platform, you canplay MP provided you have item (1) above
4) we hope to announce another way to get in there and start playing MP....

Small answers to questions:

Here's some answers to some of the questions I saw:

- note there are more enemy types in full game MP. Demo is only Cerberus for now.
- you can customize your character appearance, powers - you slowly unlock the ability to customize your appearance more and more.
- weapon benches are in there yes.
- you can also equip 3 equipment slots for things like ammo, self-rez stuff like that
- im not sure what the difference is between the MP and SP powers (if anything)
- there are 3 difficulty settings for a match: bronze/silver/gold and they get a LOT harder past bronze from what I hear :)

someone on the team gave a good tip: if you are an infiltrator, you can rack up the "grab over cover kills" (5 = a medal) because when you are cloaked you can creep up to cover with an enemy behind it and they wont back away. This allows you to do the grabs more easily. If you are not cloaked, the enemy will back away.

Can anyone comment if players can join mid-game? Say if you start with only 3 and then a 4th comes in the middle or are you stuck with only 3 for the whole mission?

No, people can join mid-game if a slot is open from what I've seen.

A mic is not required to play online.

Do you think most people will wear a mic?

So far I have played with people with mic's; however, I noticed that I need to speak and say hi before people started talking .

No because I don't have a mic and i don't want to play with most of the people wearing mics, because i don't
have one while the others playing have mics. So do you think most of the people playing co-op will have mics?

I have found it very beneficial to play with people who have mics. There is certainly some enemies that knowing where they are on the field is very beneficial to the team as a whole. As for most people, all I can say is it comes very naturally when playing

I agree that it does help to know about certain enemies around the area like the cloaked "phantoms" (those are the worst).

Phantoms are mean but turrets have the power to eat your team as well

True, at that point you need to talk in order to work together and take it down while worrying about the rest of the enemies.  So what do you think of the MP?

People with call me bias, but I love the thing. Pretty much have been playing nonstop since we went gold. I used to stay til 1am on thursdays playing it during development as well.

Well, like i mentioned before I enjoy it and when it's a full lobby it's alot of fun.  (Silly question of me; I didn't know you were apart of the team. I'm new at leaving feedback; however, I thought I'd give my positive feeling on the subject since I respect that it was done properly) :D

Why thank you, I am not officially part of the mp team but know they did a very good job. I agree though being part of a full team is "magic" throwing powers around like crazy is sweet

Has anyone else been having a blast an infiltrator? Ally down? Go cloak and revive him while he's surrounded by enemies. Are you gonna die? Go cloak and run right past all the enemies that were closing in on you. It's fun even without the slowdown scope time.

Sniping a Guardian across the map, through the shield slot, doesn't seem to get old :D

you should at least elaborate your statement a bit or most likely you will be considered as troll.

There's literally no time for me to dodge a grenade, and there's no where for me to go to, anyway.

I usually just roll away - is that on silver or gold or something?
