I have read the technical support what to do to import my character from ME1 to ME2, but in no vain. I cannot find the proper file mentionned in the technical support thread.  I have followed all it say's but there is no file with number and dashes in my: Document\\Bioware\\MassEffect\\Save, there is ONLY a profile.masseffectprofile file, and 3 other John save files, in the folder mentionned above. So how can I resolve this issue please?

This can also be done manually if you wish. As mentioned above, ME1 saves are in Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect\\Save\\. Files starting with Shepard's first name are mid-game saves and are of no use to ME2. The files with names filled with numbers and dashes, following the naming pattern Char_01-LL-#-#-#-DD-MM-YYYY-HH-MM.MassEffectSave, are the end-game saves that can be imported to ME2. Copy any or all of them to Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1\\ and they should show up for importation in ME2.

Stupid question of the day.....

You have completely finished the game, killing Saren and then talking to the Councilors/Udina/Anderson afterwards, correct??

I don't know what your issue is, unless you moved your MyDocuments folder from the stock location, but in my ME1 game save files listed at the location bolded, are files that look just like what is listed.... Char_01-.......

First there is no stupid question. Second I have never finish the game. If you call people asking questions stupid, why bother answering us, if you're pissed at our question. There is a saying that goes loke this: It takes another stupid to know one, get it?

You misinterpreted my response.

The stupid question was really mine, not yours. One of the most basic things is you can't import a ME1 Shepard that hasn't finished the game. So generally speaking anytime I ask a basic and very simple question like that and don't preface it with some humorous comment I get back a "What you think I am stupid, of course I did!!" response about 90% of the time. So to try and let people know it is a basic question and I know it I preface it. The other 10% fixes the issue and I hope the humor stops the poster from going "OH, I feel so dumb right about now!!"

So if you haven't finished ME1 then you will not be able to import that Shepard into ME2.

Thank you for your response mcsupersport, and sorry for me thinking you were telling me that I was stupid :-( But to answer you, I have never finish ME1 and ME2 so now I know that I have to finish both game or one of the other game to import my profile to ME2 or ME3.

Again thank you! :-)

I have a similar problem, but with my situation, I've completed ME1 twice, making different choices, and playing as a different class each time. I easily imported my first character into ME2, and again into ME3, but have not been able to import my second character into ME2. I'm planning on firing up ME1 again this evening to see what's going on, but I beat Saren, and had the convo afterwards so should be able to import this second character into 2 right?

:edit: Ok, after rereading the OP's problem, and the first reply I have an idea what's wrong. I only have a char-01... save, not a char-02... Not sure how I'm going to fix that because I've beaten Saren on that character and had the end conversation, but I'll check into it tonight and see if I can figure out what I did wrong. :/

Solved my problem. For some reason the endgame save from my second run through ME1 didn't transfer to the ME2 save directory, so I copied it into the ME2 save directory, and it imported right away. Thanks to WildWeasel, and mcsupersport for imdirectly leading me to the correct solution. :)
