I find some of the character facial models for the pc to be hideous, particularly the drow ones. Are there any mods that allow you to get a nicer appearance of greater control over the appearance?
Any anti-fugliness mods?

Fugliness is part of the game's charm.
Male elves are the High Kings of Fugly, whereas half-elves only manage to attain the rank of Crown Prince in the fugly hierarchy. Sun elf maidens qualify as fugly duchesses at the very least.

It's fugliness that keeps the rest of us looking so beautiful.

Half-elves are definiely the worst. They look like an elf that ran repeatedly and deliberately into a stone wall.

This might be off topic, but I think a real weakness of NWN/2 is how they had to follow WoTC on art direction. I think a game needs its own distinctive visual style, whether campy or gritty or sublime. In particular I feel like the LotR movies took fantasy from Renaissance Fair kitsch to epic grit, and every cRPG produced since has been stuck trying to strike a balance between the two, with the NWN2 heads being one such misbegotten compromise.
Whatever they do with the next big DnD game, or 5th edition for that matter, they need to put some artistic heart and soul into it, and create something distinctive.

But, if the content has a style then we're all stuck with it until Hellfire freezes over.

The faces are nowhere near as bad as the running animations. Here I was thinking nobody could look as stupid running as Steven Seagal.. and then I installed NWN2.

The attack animations are pretty bad as well. Most look like a simpleton wielding a broomstick. There is absolutely no finesse in the two-handed rapier animations, for instance. Who in their right mind would execute a two-handed downward power slash with a delicate thrusting weapon?
There are actually some pretty cool attack animations available, but some of them seem to relate to specific feats (and some I've never seen used in the game at all). I used several of them in the 'dance of death' in Shaar Moan.
It's a pity they didn't spend as much effort on the player animations as they did on the dragon animations. The breath weapon and wing buffet animations were particularly cool (although like most creatures in NWN2, they walked like they had the simpleton's broomstick inserted into them).
