My gold standard for developers right now is Eidos Montreal, the people who made Deus Ex HR. Sure that game had its fair share of problem, but the devs recognized their PC fanbase. They properly implemented PC centric features, and even had a PC Week of press releases where they posted videos showing how the PC version is going to be the best version. All we get from Bioware is "We totally care" and then radio silence followed by a product in dire need of patching. Deus Ex was that studio's very first game. It's amazing how they went out of their way to connect with the fans (and still do, check out their tumblr), while even with all of EAs money Bioware just brushes us under the carpet and hopes that our graphics cards will upscale it enough to make us forget.

Note the icons under my avatar. I love your games Bioware, but your PC ports need a lot more work.

If consoles can't handle it, they won't even bother.

Well, they should have some knowledge - they must develop their games on PC... Ow, wait! Maybe that's why DA2 was that crappy - they developed it on console!

3) Control Pads support.

At least for Xbox controller, i know its a minority, but there is those who prefer it.

I was hoping that Mass Effect 3 would finally get Xbox 360 controller support even though the first two games didn't have it. After all, BioWare already have the interface and icons, etc., from the Xbox 360 version so it shouldn't be that big of a task. I've now found out that the game will again be mouse and keyboard only which is very, very disappointing.

Now, I actually bought Mass Effect 2 for the PC then for Xbox 360 when I found out that the PC version didn't have controller support. Although, the PC version was by far the superior version technically and visually, I actually enjoyed playing it on the 360 more to completion with the controller (please don't hate me!). I really do not want to buy the 360 version this time round as, while the demo suggests it is certainly impressive for that hardware, the fact that the console was clearly struggling to run some of the cutscenes smoothly and the abundance of screen tearing put me right off it. So it's the PC version only for me but it looks like I'll have to use Xpadder if I want to play it with a controller.

Would it really have hurt the developers to have supported the controller *and* mouse/keyboard with appropriate changes to the interface? If the developers of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning can do then I'm quite sure BioWare could if they wanted to. I almost get the sense that they want people like us to buy the more expensive (and, IMO, inferior) console version to use an "inferior" control method.

Give people more choice, it might help people who are disabled in some way and unable to use a mouse and keyboard; don't give them only ONE option!

/is very disappointed. :(

I would love controller support, every major title has it these days. It would be greatly appreciated from someone like me who plays from the couch + tv with a PC.

I have to admit, after playing the demo, only con i can find was the controls and the missing hotkeys, but oh were the controls from time to time fooking horrible. Anyone here know a proper site where i can distribute a mod for ME3 to fix some of the controls and add hotkeys. Since i am starting to work on it the moment the actual game releases -.-

Controls are pretty horrendous. Moving with the mouse seems a bit off, while the aiming seems alright. Might be due to the lack of holster and FOV that goes with it.
I wish they had separated the use and sprint/jump button from the taking cover thing. I got stuck on the wrong side of cover quite a few times.
No weapon hotkeys either, I was silently hoping for at least those.
Poor controls is really my biggest gripe so far.

Though the textures could use some higher resolution versions. I was surprised to see AA support in the game itself.

That said, the game was pretty brutal on hardcore. I actually went down to normal to fight the ATLAS.

EDIT: Scrolling seems to be in (according to the menu) and double click could be used in the squad menu. So atleast they figured out what a normal mouse is capable of.

I agree, i didnt have problems with the mouse, but i had insane moments with the cover system and other controls... for example. accidentally clicking on the wrong weapon in the UI when you want to switch a weapon, can actually be a pain in the ass, as it commits you to that action. I cant believe BW has not adressed this issue as it was present in ME2 also.

^^^ This

As long as stubborn PC developers like BioWare, who seem to be stuck in 1998 IMO when it comes to control schemes, refuse to support both keyboard/mouse and controller then it keeps the PC from being used on large screen HDTVs for gaming from the comfort of the sofa.

It's useless, we've had tons of threads about these problems and they don't even bother to give us an answer... and then they complain about the PC having too many pirates. This is what you get when you give us half-assed ports. You don't deserve our money even though I have already pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe edition.

Bioware will never have a game where the visual fidelity is lauded by everyone for its awesomeness. Why? Laziness perhaps. But BW can weave a good story right? I wonder how long that saying is going to last.

Last Bioware and probably last EA game I'm ever going to buy.

Apparently, BioWare couldn't spare the development costs of transferring the existing 360 user interface and controls over to the PC.

Yeaaaaaaaah, right...

Funny how other smaller developers who release a game across the same three formats can still manage to support two control schemes, e.g. the ones who made Kingdoms of Amalur. That game is about as barebones as PC multiformat games get in terms of extras, suggesting that they too had no time to enhance the game for the superior format, but yet it still manages to intergrate a control scheme that seamlessly switches the HUD and icons depending on whether you're using a controller or mouse/keyboard. That is also an EA published game too.

Even Bethesda managed it for Skyrim as well despite the earlier Oblivion not supporting the controller properly. At least they adapted to the demands of 21st century PC gamers.

I call bull on this one.

I think BioWare don't want to support it. They could have added it to Mass Effect 2 post-launch via a patch but didn't. They could do that for Mass Effect 3 if they wanted. It's one format and a couple of people's time at a guess
(maybe a programmer could clarify how long it takes to add Xbox 360 controller support to a typical PC game?). I
suspect the truth is that they're probably happier knowing that pro-controller gamers will buy one of the more
expensive console versions while at the same time it reduces the risk of PC gamers screaming "Console port!" if
they so much see any mention of "Press START" on the title screen.

There really is no excuse not to support controller and mouse/keyboard in a PC game here in 2012 except for exclusive strategy and MMORPGs. Just about everyone else manages it... except BioWare. Mass Effect is a third-person shooter first and RPG second so is ideally suited to the controller anyway; the original game was made with that control scheme in mind.

Give people MORE choice, not just the one, even if it means you have to delay the game a few weeks. Heck, if money/resources right are so tight that you can't implement something that is already there from another version that uses the same engine then release it as an optional DLC patch at a small premium for those that want it. As long as it is reasonably priced then I'd buy it as, I'm sure, would many others. BioWare then would see how many PC gamers actually want controller support. OK, so we shouldn't have to pay for something that, IMO, should already be included in the game but if that's the only way to convince BioWare that is worthwhile then I'd pay for it.

Shouldn't the GAMEPLAY/STORY/EXPERIENCE matter more than a silly PC interface or PC graphics? Yeah it's annoying, but you have a PC, and complaining isn't going to change things. So let's all be optimistic, stop QQ'ing, and just play your game.

If you hate the interface that much, a local store will sell you an xbox and ME3.

This is supposed to be the best optimized, msot refined version to the series, the ultimate entry.

There have been five years of new technology and development time to make ME3 as good as possible, and the UI is worse than Mass Effect 1. It's not just that it hasn't improved, it's become WORSE? Why do they ad all new commands and animations, and yet again make so many actions bound to the space bar? That's so stupid it hurts.

I seriously doubt Bioware told that

Scroll Whell doesn't work on scroll bars.

Either OP knows something we dont. Or he is simply whining before even trying. Not sure what good will bring this kind of awareness. False start!@

Keyboard and Mouse also has been said it will stay the same.

So the question here, is why they decided this way, and if we can expect changes on future patches.

On the graphics, you can may call it an "false start", but we are not saying without some background.

Ok i have now tried the demo, and all buttons are remappable, extra mouse buttons are recognizable, scroll wheel works.

What have you got to say about that?

Where did you get the scroll wheel to work? Only place I got it to work was switching weapons. They kind of did it half-ass, otherwise you would be able to use it to scroll through your power's when leveling up, etc.
