For the Guardians (dudes with the riot shields), easiest way to take em down is a Sniper headshot through the little slit on the shield. Its usually a one shot kill, 2 at the most.

I also found that curving a throw to get around their shield worked, too.

Out of curiosity, what are the powers and skills for all four of the engineer characters?

Each character levels up when you play with them, or it's the player that levels up?

@francis

Each class levels up individually, I believe.

To expand on this, if you play as a vanguard, for example, and then level up, all of your vanguard characters level up as well. Each class can have up to four characters (human male, human female, and two aliens). You assign points separately to each character, but you gain points for every character in a class if you level up as that class.

Carnifex with a scope is pretty much a handheld sniper.

That is awesome!  So essentially you are leveling up classes and not characters.

Using a warp on an enemy, followed by using shockwave, creates 1. explosion, 2. knockback, 3. lots of damage on most enemies including atlas's.

Does throw detonate warp as well? and will the same combos work with reave in the place of warp, I suspect it will.

A good strategy I've read about is using your Vanguards to "home in" on enemies. Basically, you lock in on your Vanguards while they charge into a group of enemies. Using the Vanguards as a distraction, you can strategically obliterate opponents from afar while the Vanguards cause massive damage to groups of enemies.

Pull seems like the easiest and most obvious solution.

A Great strategy would be using "soldiers" to make the enemies attack them, then the vanguard slam into
the enemies, while the soldiers, adepts and sentinels mow them down, then the infiltrators infiltrate them
from behind and flank them, then use the engineers turrets to kill the remaining enemies.

As an engineer, you can place a combat drone behind a guardian and they will turn around allowing you to shoot them. And try to have an infiltrator in your team, it makes reviving much easier on the higher levels or higher difficulties.

Adepts should focus on combos. From a distance, Singularity + Warp. Up close, Warp + Shockwave. If whatever's fool enough to come at you isn't dead yet, you can even chain Singularity + Warp + Shockwave. Outside of combos, fire Singularity at anything that moves,

Soldiers are use to mow enemies down, right?

Asari Adept/Vanguard:

Both have the STASIS ability...and my god, its awesome. One of the last unlocks for Stasis is the Bubble Stasis, where you can make a bubble, put it in a doorway, and any unshielded enemy that comes through it gets frozen. Also...it works well in conjunction with the Vanguard's Charge power...you freeze em, they (or you), charge and finish em off.

Also.. Singularity...can be used tactically like Stasis...put it in a doorway you know enemies are going to be coming in, and if they have no shields or barrier, it will toss them in the air. It is is also very effective against Guardians...while it wont lift them in the air directly, it basically prevents them from advancing...they run into it, it knocks em back, they try again. It really is quite funny to watch.

Cliff Notes:
Stasis is Awesome.
Use Stasis and Singularity in doorways.

Important General tips for newcomers:

Shields: Use OVERLOAD. (Human Engineer, Turian Sentinel)
Barrier/Armor: Use WARP (Human/Asari Adept, Human/Turian Sentinel)

So, if you want to be a good support character, the turian sentinel is your best bet...you can strip down shields and armor (very important against Combat Engineers and Turrets).

Other General tips:
-You have to strip down the armor and shields before biotics will work (when they only have red bar).
-Use Infiltrators to revive your fallen teammates, they can use Tactical Cloak to get to your fallen comrade undetected
-Save the Rockets in the kits for the Atlas Mechs.
-tap the "A" (xbox 360) button repeatedly when you are down to make the death timer tick slower, that way your teammates will have more time to reach and revive you. (not sure what the button on PC/PS3 is)
-Save the self-revives you acquire from Kits for the later rounds when youll need them most. (if you die, you WILL respawn at the start of the next wave, so this is more likely to happen in earlier rounds, where your absence wont be as detrimental)

Feel free to discuss multiplayer strategies, builds, and whatnot here.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION STRATEGY GUIDE PART - your suggestions are welcome!

<<General Strategy>>

Needs suggestions...

<<class Strategies>>

-Engineers with Overload/Incinerate work as excellent support classes, allowing other teammates to focus on damage dealing.

-Infiltrators excel at securing objectives due to tactical cloak. It's also very handy for reviving downed squadmates.

-Vanguards have excellent mobility due to Charge. This can be useful for assisting team members in trouble or quickly escaping hot zones. They also provide excellent distractions.

-Soldiers and Sentinels are the most durable classes, and excel at 'holding the line'. Staying mobile isn't as important as drawing fire away from the squishier classes.

-Adepts are the Crowd Control class. Lock down chokepoints with Bubble Stasis and Singularity, use combos on tougher enemies.

<<Enemy Strategies>>

Cerberus Enemies

Phantoms
-Can be 'locked down' by automatic weapons fire. As they keep trying to evade, others can focus on doing damage.

Guardians
-Easy methods for dealing with their shields:
--Curving throw around their shields
--Plain old Singularities or Pulls
--Sniper headshot through the view slot

Engineers
-Priority targets, as their turrets can decimate inexperienced teams.

So, what exactly qualifies you as a multiplayer expert? You have a pro record I assume? Maybe you have a GB account? Just curious...Thinking about posting on your thread, but I only. And one other question...why do you need strategy to play against bots? Bots are alot different from real players on the other side of the game.

He never claimed to be an expert. Making your question moot.

And you need strategy against bots because the bots can be difficult. If you dont know what you are doing, then you wont survive long. Alot of it can be trial and error, but tips, tricks and strategy help too since others can pick up on stuff you wouldnt have thought of, and vice versa.

A Sentinel and a Human Adept (with only one equipped weapon preferably a Phalanx pistol) make great support characters. There are so many Centurions and Nemesis snipers in the later waves that that Adepts often have to rely on team mates or their guns to breakdown shields before they can set up biotic combos. By having a Sentinel pair with an Adept and having the Sentinel fire Overload, followed by the Adepts Singularity, and finished with the Sentinels Warp heavily shield enemies are a piece of cake. Don't rely on the Tech Armor though, it is NOT as effective at keeping you alive as a Krogan/Turian Solider's Fortification skill.
