Not to mention charge 'cannot' miss like other biotic powers. But I wonder how he would fair against a cerberus vanguard with lash evo for barrier/shield penetration. Would be funny to fling a krogan off maps.

What happens... *dundun*

...when an unstoppable force...
"LAAAASH!"

...meets an immovable object?
"MRRRAAAAAAA!"

Was this necro really necessary? The "PVP in MP" issue was laid to rest months ago.

BioWare "could" justify it, as being part of a Training Simulation before real combat. But like others have pointed out, trying to balance the different classes for PvP would be a nightmare so I can be pretty certain that it'll never happen. Would love to see a Horde Mode included, where you try and survive wave after wave of enemies, and pick up new weapons on the battlefield.

Is it so hard to imagine this concept like Versus mode (Halo Reach), or like the new MP mode that's from Gears of War Judgement?

And for the record: Pre-made classes would go a long way in this regard.

The easiest way to balance a game like this somewhat is the "rock vs scissors"-approach: use charge against campers and snipers, use stasis to protect said sniper, engineers to support/heal and tactical turret-placements. Soldiers for bulk and versatility. The team with 1 medic, 1 gunner and 1 heavy beats the team with 3 gunners.

I was in no way suggesting there'd be rewards or a ranking, thats way too serious. Just fun with guns.

The most fun I've had in PvP is with games that where more or less designed to not be balanced. Games like Alien vs Predator and Jedi Outcast. If we got pvp right now, with no balancing at all, then me and my friends would play it regularly for 3 years, I guarantee it.

Im gonna resurrect this thread.

Id love some pvp action. The game engine would be awesome for pvp. Perfectly balanced classes are not nescessary, so long as everyone has some strengths and some weaknesses. Being lifted would'nt be so bad, so long as you can still aim and fire your gun while floating and the cooldown is fairly long, it would work like a flashbang.. Stun effects are easily balanced by reducing durations, maybe around 1 or 1.5 seconds for stasis, just enough to create some oppertunities for your team.

I realy think this would be great fun.

Cleary you don't think ahead and imagine how unbalanced would be. Charge stuns you for very long. Stasis traps you and you can't do anything. Infiltrators with krysae or claymore or GPS. Adepts with Biotic explosions. Engineers eh tech bursts. Krogan meleeing you. Overpowered guns. You would be crying for nerfs of they ever did this. Please for be stupid. I don't think you really play too much mass effect at all. If you did you'd understand how stupid PvP in mass effect is and how bad of a mistake in resurrecting this thread. What happened five months ago should stay there.

So you would find it appealing to play a PvP TPS that has only one viable class/weapon combo? People would be bored of it in a week.

I'm pretty sure a Charge spamming Kroguard would always win no matter how good your guns or aim are.

He can't be staggered from the front
Has the highest shields and health in the game
can close large distances in seconds
with the reegar has some of the best offensive potential against non armored opponents (You)
Would send you flying with heavy melee

The only thing that might have a chance is a Asari with stasis

right to the point where he gets the VG glitch or (thanks to recent patches) Dies mid charge.

Recent patches?

The VG glitch has been existant since launch.
+
Since he would be near impossible to kill he wouldn't have to worry about the glitch too bad. Since it only ussually happens when he dies in the charge animation.

Or he could just host.

recent pathces made the VG more prone for glitching and if you notice how i typed the (thanks to recent patches) After the "or" and then comes the part about "dies in mid charge", it is a part of the glitch made worse in the recent patches, the die in mid charge, it was rare at first, but these days even a host can get it. Please try to read what people type :) and in what order.

nope, only certain races of them. not to mention the learning curve and all the gear unlocks, and how they affect the game, it would be a ****ing nightmare.

You really have not played the game. Infiltrator were and are still the best class to use to kill everything. Compared to them all other classes are not that good. Adepts can use biotic explosions which am one shot kill any of re playable character, the engineers tech bursts can't. You really need to use your brain a bit. Also play the game to see what it's like before resurrecting a thread about something you know nothing about.

Is it realy that hard to imagine that I might actually have fun in a game like that? Alien vs Predator is in my opinion the most enjoyable pvp experience yet. One predator is equal to three marines, wich are equal to five aliens. No balance, all fun. I can't name a single game with different classes that where completely balanced anyways, but if you realy can't face an infiltrator, then I guess you could ban the class from the server.
Seriusly, my friends and I have been LOOKING for a multiplayer game like this to play when we get our computers together, but there are'nt any exept Borderlands and team fortress. ME pvp would be exactly what we want

Sounds like somebody is comparing ME with CoD or BF again.

There are certainly plenty of counters if one knows how to think outside the box.

Problem is, people rarely do.

They'd much rather things be brought down to their level then scale up their ablitiy. In some cases they hit their celing and can't improve any further despite STILL being unable to compete.

If you want to play a game with unbalanced classes in PvP they already have games based on those. You're still playing the wrong game if you want to play something like that so no, your search is not over. Keep looking.

The Spirit of Mass Effect has always been working together with squadmates to overcome situations you couldn't face alone. Commander Shepherd isn't Master Chief, an unfeeling, indominable, weapon of war. He's a common everysoldier who just so happend to be at the right place at the right time to get sucked into a very bad situation. Master Chief always goes it alone, he rarely has people help him out. Shepherd always has two others assisting him out of a wide group of specialists who all volenteered to follow him into the gaping maw of Hell. Halo was based on lone wolf gameplay, Mass Effect is more Squad based.

We have plenty of games that already fill the nichte you're looking for. ME3 fills a missing nichte of co-op exclusisve.

Maybe next game but I wouldn't hold my hopes high for any sort of PvP within a world that promotes teamwork and small squad tactics while punishing lone wolf, "I need no squadmates", mentality.

PvP shooters don't traditionally have
-Actions with invincibility
-Actions that ragdoll, freeze, or stunlock opponents
-Invisibility that grants a huge damage bonus
-Grenades with massive blast radii
-Spammable instant total regeneration + damage + knockback
-???

ME in a PvP mode would be a disaster.

lol no.

Patches have not worsened the charge glitch, and as a requent Vanguard hoster I have never seen the glitch happen once while hosting. If it happens at all while hosting it is extremley rare.  It was common since launch to start floating away after dying mid charge, the patch has had no signifigant change on the glitch.

Please try not to make **** up =) and your use of parenthesis was unessecary and simply made the sentence fluency less recognizable. If you had use the preffered punctuation of a comma it would have been far more understandable.

Bad spelling and punctuation are nothing detrimental to a post, but blaming me for your bad sentence fluency is simply childish.

Agreed with the whole not being in the spirit of mass effect. Also, I don't think all games need adversarial or pvp game modes. I prefer co-op myself. You still get the teamwork and excitement, but without all the cheap tactics and trash-talking....although some people on here somehow sneak it in.

the truth is that pvp doesnt really fit Mass Effect 3...but it does fit Mass Effect 2 with the whole mercenary bands war as well as Cerberus, the Shadow Broker Ops and the Collectors running all over in the terminus systems.

If the multiplayer had been introduced on Mass Effect 2, im sure we would be playing pvp right now

For pure TPS PvP, go with Gears of War. If you want something with tipped scales that is done well, try Left 4 Dead Versus mode.

Because if there was pvp then this thread would be flooded with 'nerf this' threads every time someone killed someone else because it can't possibly be ballanced if I can kill someone as an adept, that's just crazy.

The problem is Origin. If not for that, Im sure I'd be playing with a pvp-mod right now. People are just balking at the thought of krogan charges, biotic stuns and infiltrators with stealth. I can't seriusly be the only one who think that all sounds awesome. Oh well. Guess I'll go back to playing Citizen Kabuto or something....

When most classes can be one-shot killed (okay, three) by most other classes, then people will probably balk--because being killed in fractions of a second just isn't that much fun.

Next time you're playing Cerberus on Gold, think about this: the toughest PCs have fewer shields and health than a Centurion.
