Its a combination of your class ranks:

If you only play soldier, and your soldier is level 11, then your N7 is also 11.
If you have a level 5 Adept, a level 3 Vanguard and a level 7 Soldier, then your N7 rank is 15

Sum of currently created characters. Even if you have level 5 (from reinforcement packs) that doesnt add to your N7 until after a character of that class is created

Glad I found this. You also get +10 to your N7 Rank if you promote a class @ level 20.

I just created 3 new characters after reading this. Starting with an N7 of 366 I created two level 19's that were not being used (from a class that was previously promoted) and a level 4. When I went into the next lobby to play my N7 Rank was only 366.

Do you have to play through a match with your newly created characters, or does it only apply to characters that say NEW? I'm guessing they have to be NEW characters, ie the first time you use them EVER?

Why would you bring this thread back uo, just to say something everybody already knows? Also, NECROMANCER!

It's each class, not each character.

Why does N7 rating matter? It's more like a measure of time sucked into the game than skill level...

true...but it means one important thing...you wont get kicked for having a low level...

that's the only purpose of the ranking

I wish they allowed your N7 to go up despite being max leveled. I can't even count the number of times I've been scoffed at and booted for having a sub-200 rating.

I hope that they don't do any more class promotion events. I'm sitting on a N7 rating of 420 and I'd like to leave it that way.

It's sort of the sum of created characters. When you promote, it adds ten to your N7 rating, too. So the formula is ((20+10) * NumberofPromotedCharacters) + (allCurrentCharacterLevels)

JerZeyCJ2: Hrm, you musta been pretty bored to post your nothing?

KiraTsukasa: By class would be max of 6 classes * 20 levels = 120 N7 Rank, plus 10 per promoted class. I currently have 380 and I don't think I've promoted 20 classes 25+ times yet. Also, when I saw the N7 Rank increase I promoted no new level 19s and did not level up any new characters from lower levels.

ToToRoTY and Unnamed_Shadow: Yep, mostly good for a better indication of experience than character level. I'd rather play with a level 1 anything with an N7 of say 200, then with a level 20 character with a considerably lower N7 Rank.

Verhalthur: Hmm, will have to mess around with a calculator later and see how that pans out.

Having better gear and more experience is somewhat of an indicator of how useful that person will be in a game.

I have been in games with N7 600+ with black widow 3 being utterly useless and I have been in games with N7 ~100 with nothing fancy at all being very useful.

But it is still somewhat of an indicator...
