Can we have this stickied?

Before this forum floods with people asking if their rigs can handle the game :?

Be careful last time i went there got trojan horse. And do not rely on it if you can run ME2 you should be able to run ME3. The specs have already been posted in a sticky.

It was dark and I had to go to the bathroom.

We all make mistakes.

That is why we have kick ass regular computers that cost way too much money for back up.

Last I checked the Systems Requirements Lab scan was terribly inaccurate. For the GPU check, it literally only checks the generation of the graphics card. The named minimum for Mass Effect 3 by EA's support website is a Radeon X1800 -- a very old, outdated card but at least it was cutting edge at the time of its release. If you have, say, a Radeon HD 2400 that was bottom-of-the-barrel stuff even when it came out, SRL will just see the "2" and give you a pass because it's newer than the X1800. But any Radeon HD 2400 that tries to play ME3 will hack, cough, and stutter horribly.

Yougamers.com's Game-o-meter is a more reliable way to determine if your computer can play a game. But really, if you're a PC gamer you should have at least a basic understanding of graphics cards, enough to tell whether your PC meets the minimum requirements for the game. Unless your parents bought your computer or something.

Where's Gorath Alpha? We could use some of his threads transplanted from the other tech support sections...

A word to the wise, System Requirements Lab site is not particularly reliable, so take the readings with a grain of salt as I have seen many titles pass on computers, but not actually able to run a game or requires using very low settings. YMMV (your milage may vary)

Thank goodness, i always wondered what YMMV meant, but i was afraid of asking at the risk of sounding like an old man at 29.

The site linked in the OP is VERY unreliable. Follow spec requirements for each game you are trying to run.

on the scale it shows that my computer can just about run it, the green line is a little bit over the minimum line. But it said the exact same thing for me when I was testing if I could run Skyrim and I can run that on maximum graphics settings with very little lag

Do NOT use CYRI. It's garbage.

I would rather see people flood the boards with these question than if they get wrong information.

I remember CYRI once claiming my Geforce 9600 GT was faster than an 8800 GT because it's a higher number. They still make huge errors like these.

I think my PC can run the game, but my processor is the main component giving me bottlenecks. I'll upgrade it in a few months.

AMD Athlon II X2 240 (2.8 GHz)
4GB Ram DDR3 1333 MHz
Sapphire Radeon HD6790 1GB GDDR5
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Dude, you are secure, don't worry.

I will be playing ME2 on a lappy with C2D 2 Ghz and I'm rather calm, since min specs are 1,8 Ghz C2D CPU.

This site works a lot better, but then you have to write in your own specs or become a member.

like others said Can you run it is very inaccurate
It might read that you have an Ati 4200 ( which is way less powerfull than the ancient x1800 ) and say you are OK
For more accurate i would suggest using yougamers gameOmeter ( though it still haven't added ME3 )
http://www.yougamers.com/
Just click on the game you are interested
