As the subject heads says, do we need Origin or the demo or can we download it from somewhere else and install ME3 without it?
Thanks

I've got the same question. I'm also trying to figure out the time of the release for the demo. Don't know if it will be at midnight or what

According to the official demo FAQ, yes, you will need to download and install the demo through Origin in order to play it.

Thanks, I thought I'd read that somewhere but I couldn't find it in the FAQ, should have looked at it with my eyes open Image IPB.
Looks like I won't be playing the demo then, I'm trying to limit my PC's exposure to Origin.

That would be 18:00 (or 6 pm) GMT, for anyone battling to work it out in their own timezone. Just add or subract your timezone from that.

Origin is EA's online PC game store and download service.

Anyone able to use the Battlefield 3 early release pass on Origin? I can't find the option to access it anywhere and I've had Battlefield since October.

You should get the early release pass by just activating Battlefield 3 and playing a multiplayer match. Hope this info is right though since pc players have no way of knowing yet.

I heard it was 12 PM PST? A few hours more of waiting is painful, no matter how virtuous.

Its already been confirmed all Retail and Digital Keys must be registered on Origin for DLC, Multiplayer and Game access on the PC version (PSN, XBL have the online pass instead which locks multiplayer). Offline mode is available once you log in mass effect 3 and authenticate your account and DLC, you will have full access to your DLC and ME3 game in off-line mode.

I just tried it with Kingdoms of Amular and all DLC and game content works fine in offline mode.

Thanks for losing another customer EA. Your Origins crap invades others privacy and gives that information to other third-party companies. Don't you love your rights being violated?

Show me proof. Origin no longer scan files except it's very own Origin folder. damned ignorants basing their own opinions on others.

PnX is right. Most complaints are based on hear-say. The second point I would like to raise is: So what? I am no Origin or Steam fan boy, but who cares wether EA collects data about my gaming behaviour. They will only use it to either offer me (via Origin) more and other games (like the ones I am playing a lot), or start creating other games or DLC because the way I play a game. It also prevent pirating better, and thus will make gamies more profitable and in the long run give us more games.

No no it doesn't. Actually I would think it makes it easier. Since all the games are using the same DRM hack one, pretty easy to hack them all.

Anyway I'll put origin on my PC for ME3. At least for the demo.

Not sure if serious...

If so, then wow! You are sorely uninformed about Origin, data collection and piracy. If you wish to know more PM me, as I don't want this thread locked (like all the others) for off topic discussions.

For the moment, yes, but they can change it right back to its old, odious behaviour at any time they desire as their laughable EULA gives them every right to do so and if you don't go along with it then, you lose the right to play what you've already paid for.

Same here. And if the demo impresses me enough, I'll put up with it for my ME3 retail validation.

This is the entire Origin segment from Process Monitor at 12:00 PM.
