Horrible design decision that hampers player choice to attempt to cover up the utter lack of depth the multiplayer really has.  Theres such little point to the multiplayer that they had to try to give us incentives to keep playing by locking all the races.  But all this really does is make the game less fun and interesting.  Its going to drive many players away.

Also wow that level cap.  You can really only max out a single skill and almost a second one, but even if it we're two full skills thats still not enough.  Again, makes the multiplayer far less interesting and far more shallow.

I can see this game's multiplayer dying VERY fast because of all these retarded choices.  Lets go ahead and rescrict and limit all the good parts and just put emphasis on the fact that it helps your single player war assets!  Dumbdumbdumb.  Nobody is gonna care anymore after March 13th.

What a waste of time.  I hope this meaningless bullet point on the back of the box helps your sales cause it ain't gonna do anything else.

Hello there,

I can comment on your "level cap" part, the mp level cap allows for 84 skill points (enough to fill in 4 of the 5 all the way or choose another configuration).

The rest is a matter of opinion, so I cant really offer any information other than to say that.

will there be a chance in the future to up the lv limit so we can have 6/6/6/6/6 across the board?

This would be nice. I mean, yeah, it would allow you to max everything, but the evolutions are there to keep your paths unique, you know? No matter what, you'll never have a cookie-cutter build unless you choose to have one.

I would support a higher cap.

You do know that he's got a point though right? People's interest in the game is declining rapidly.

Be it frustration caused by the RNG, the bugs or w/e it all comes down to poor and cheap choices made by the team to keep us here. If you make a proper game people will play it for years, you don't have to use RNG to prolong their interest.

You don't know yet that they won't!

It's already lasted a good five months longer than the OP predicted. Height of summer and we're still winning operations. Going by the evidence so far, fears are pretty groundless.

Did your brains leave you because they did not want to swim in rancid liquids? you can max out not 2, not 3 but 4 skills with the level cap. that is 4/5 skills.

Well, I guess the demo had a lower cap and the OP is talking about that since this thread is 6 months old!

It didn't. The demo was actually very similar to what's out now, just with only two maps (Ghost and White), only Cerberus as a faction, only recruit and veteran packs, and none of the DLC characters.

Seriously, they were critiquing the game nearly as it is now.

The benefits of hindsight, eh? It's got me wondering what the normal lifespan for an MP addition to a game is though.

Also: Dear God, I clicked your N7 builds link. How have you been doing with that Fury build?

Let me ask you this.
How would a geth adept or krogan infiltrator work?
Not that I don't want to be an invisible krogan, swinging my weapon with a 555% damage multiplier (700x5.55=3885).
Nevermind, I want this class in MP/SP.

Limiting the race/class combos was actually a very very smart move. It means at a glance you can roughly the class of a player, and what they're capable of (except with a few reused assets but.. Vanguards, Sentinels and Infiltrators all have additional indicators). Any good multiplayer experience wants to maintain at least some silhouette variance, just to allow the players to understand what's going on better.

It's also a quick and dirty way for them to keep character classes and builds balanced (Yes, I know, Geth Infiltrator). A dedicated Mass Effect multiplayer game might have more variety, but that variety comes with more unpredictable character builds, and thus trickier balance. That kind of thing would probably require a more in-depth design, and I don't think Mass Effect 3's multiplayer had enough resources for that (remember—multiplayer with this franchise was unproven before the launch).

It has been fun to say the least. i built it as a supportive trickle DPS dealer and it does wonders setting up/off explosions with the DC and AF. didnt spec for throw as other depts already got that covered, went for survivability instead :) I did revise my weapon selections though. and combined piranha and scorpion.

Hmm, I'll go ahead and address this now that I notice its been necrod (light necro myself wanna fight about it?). The level cap **** was a misunderstanding I quickly learned about after making this thread. I didn't come back to correct myself cause I didn't care, not a daily visitor or anything. Not until for a while after dat ending at least. But yeah I was wrong about that, early pre-launch daze... moving on..

The other point though I still believe is true. The multiplayer is shallow. Just compare it to any other game, theres one mode with tiny maps that have no significant variation other then cosmetic, and the impact it has on the SP is a glorified gimmick. If people could buy what they wanted straight away then once they had that they would realize theres nothing more to really do. Enjoy that class while it lasts then get bored and quit, theres no end game unless you actually care about the pointless EMS it brings in. Bioware had to inject substance into it by forcing this slot machine grind to keep people playing far longer then they usually would just to earn the stuff they really want. It gets people playing to see what random loot they can snag more then rather just playing just for the enjoyment of the gameplay (not saying it isnt enjoyable, but only for so long with such little variation).

This is still an issue. The DLC packs are nearly useless for more casual players (ie SP players who only lightly dabble in the MP) who don't want to grind for days just to unlock the character or weapon they want to actually use. For example when the Earth dlc came out I grinded dozens of matches for over a week trying to unlock the ninja or adept classes, never got em. Gave up cause I didn't give a **** to continue that hopeless slot machine grind, waste of time I can play something more enjoyable. I would LOVE to get to spend a while as those classes but I just don't care enough to waste hours and hours trying to unlock them with no clear definite horizon to cross. I could get them with just one more spectre pack, or i might not get them for literally hundreds. No thanks.

If you guys still playing all the time then good on ya. If you like the grind then thats cool, I mean thats pretty much the entire MMO market there. But I had to seriously lol when I saw people with over 3k N7 ranks when I was playing Earth dlc. I just don't see how anybody could do it. Even funnier was the fact some of them tried booting me from matches for only having 200 something rank. I proved them wrong by being the top player, dickbags, but I digress... I still think the multiplayer in ME3 is dumb. It was enjoyable for a few weeks, then it died to me. And it died to all my friends. Its just too monotonous for my taste, I still think it was just a dumbdumbdumb bullet point add used as a prototype experiment by EA for a new F2P system we'll probably end up seeing in future games now thanks to this games apparent success. I just don't see the appeal, but then again I also don't see the appeal in Justin Beiber (yeah I just went there, wanna fight about it?) so I'll just hop on my bike.
