Since I dont have early acess I can't test this but from what video's i've seen, you're allowed to name your character but what I was wondering was:

1) Is the name for all the characters and classes or is it specific to a character or whole class?
2) Assuming it is only specific to character/class can you use the same name for another character/class
3) I doubt anyone has tested this with a friend or come across this yet but if you use a name that has already been taken by another player, are you still allowed to use that name?

Now before I get any "Derp, its just a name it doesnt matter" answers, i'm picky about my characters names, and haven't seen answers to these yet.

1) Each character has its own name
2) I believe you can name them all the same (could be wrong never tested it)
3) Gamertag/PSN name/Origin name is what shows up in game not character name

Right I knew that I just worded that question horribly. Basically I was curious if someone named their character, i don't know shepard maybe, would you be allowed to name yours shepard to despite that name never showing up. but if 2 turns out to be correct I already have the answer then. Thanks:lol:

Yes, because you can theoretically create all your characters before you even enter a match so we would have no way of knowing who you would "collide" with. I also believe Shepard is not a valid character name, would ruin some lore :D

No, they have to be unique names, so each character name has to be different.

Its kind of like "class names" from Call of Duty...like you can set up a class and then individually name each class...then when you start a match, you just search for that name on your list...youre the only one who can see it.

So yeach class has 4 different characters, 2 are humans, 2 aliens...so you set them up with different powers, then just name your class...nobody can see it but you.

Never gonna happen, I know, but it would be really awesome to have our characters's names displayed in some way. At least for those of us who dig the immersion and character investment aspects of it? OMG, neat! :) 2 games in one, practically. It would add a lot to MP, in my humble opinion.

Like, with the Gamertag/ID whatever below the character's name, something like this:
      Steve Smith           (Character Name)
 @XTrEmeGAMer636       (Gamertag/ID, in smaller letters/other color)

I imagine it would take a hell lotta work, not to mention, a super-efficient and comprehensive name filter for copyright reasons, profanity, etc... and the cheap workarounds that most certainly would appear (X John Sheperd X.... Garruz Valkyrian.. etc =D)..... among a million other obstacles that I can't even fathom. So, yeah, it's completely understandable why it's not there, like I said before, almost a new game... But, it would be sooo awesome!!! =)
